Blade Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 If I had the game, I'd write up some serious combo listings for everyone. When I played it, I tried to learn how to use Ky's Holy Brand Move (the sidestep lightning launcher), but that's hard to control.
purify Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Usually if Japanese and English are available in a game, I'll almost always opt for Japanese...but I really like the English better in this game. Holy Brand is more for other enemies trying to approach you while you're locked on to someone else imo, but I don't use it very much.
Silmerion Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Or perhaps they got tired of being able to hear, "Mind if I CUT IN?!"You can NEVER have too much mindificutin.
Abominable K Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 After remembering that this is GG and thus Volcanic Viper can be done mid air, I came up with a badass Sol combo that does about 80% damage: Lock on, X, X, VV (2hit) [MC], j.X, j.X, VV (1 hit) [MC], j.X, j.X, Break Down [MC] X, X For a similar result for all of your tension, just spam VV [MC]. For example: VV (2 hit) [MC] VV (1 hit) [MC] VV (1 hit) j.X 3 If this were a normal GG, people would be pissed at the damage VV does. Interesting thing I noticed about the system while pining for Gunflame FRC: Projectiles can be Modern Canceled, but only when they make contact with the opponent.
Blade Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 It sucks that every special move in this game costs Tension though...and you always gotta sit by a Ghost to recharge.
purify Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Ab. K, this sounds...really techable. Did you turn on tech in training mode?
Adelheid Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 It sucks that every special move in this game costs Tension though...and you always gotta sit by a Ghost to recharge. You realize you get mad tension to beating up on guys with normals, right? And that if you ever need a burst of tension right then you can just summon up a tension potion?
Abominable K Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Ab. K, this sounds...really techable. Did you turn on tech in training mode? Of course I did. Try it yourself if you don't believe me. VV has retarded untechable time.
Silmerion Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 While we're posting combos, I'll post a neat Izuna one I found last night. Izuna does crap damage. X, bX, bX, j.X, j.Y, land, j.Y, land, j.X, j.X, j.X Admittedly pretty basic and does ~170 damage on Sol. I promise you it's untechable.
Zazz Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 While we're posting combos, I'll post a neat Izuna one I found last night. Izuna does crap damage. izuna can't be bad. i know i saw him in a replay doing crazy AC Slayer rejuggles and such no idea HOW he did it, but it was neat
Silmerion Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 izuna can't be bad. i know i saw him in a replay doing crazy AC Slayer rejuggles and such no idea HOW he did it, but it was neatLink, bitte?
Zazz Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Link, bitte? it was one of the online replays from off the game leaderboards it wouldn't work anymore anyway
Mr. Jibbly Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 I'm mad that Canada STILL doesn't have the DLC.
Heavenscent Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 I'm mad that Canada STILL doesn't have the DLC. You and me both.
Silmerion Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Here are some more Izuna combos I've found. All of them were tested on Sol with teching on. fX, IAD, j.X, j.Y, land, X, bX, bX, fY (224 damage, takes about 30% Tension) fX, j.X, land, X, bX, bX, j.X, j.X, j.X (208 damage, Tensionless) [This combo takes somewhat particular spacing and timing on the first jump hit. I'm not sure it'd be reliable in an actual game.] I guess Izuna's damage output is better than I've given it credit for; he just kind of needs to work more for it.
Blade Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Can someone please list off a bunch of those GG2 combo video links, Zazz did a while ago but I can't find em.
Zazz Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm5416136 oh WOW. strange weirdness involving valentine having a way of exiting the bounds of a map. hilarity ensues.
Blade Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Raven in more combat in case anyone wants to see... http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm5467841 He's totally like a psycho mix of Edward Scissor Hands and Rei from Hokuto no Ken.
Sephi_hatu Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Well, I got it on sunday. Beat it today (tuesday). Certainly not the worst game in the world. It's just overly complex. It has a solid engine, no glitches, and I never really got bored doing anything (good mission variety). Theres nothing I can really get mad at the game about, just ways they could have improved it. Like, when there are larger battles involving a bunch of units, things become a little impossible to keep track of. The camera being so far out all the time wasn't really an issue, I just wish I could make it come closer. I also found walking speed to be too slow (and theres also one walking speed, whenever you press a direction, it runs at a set speed, and it doesnt change depending on how far you press with the stick). I also wish they had put more effort into the art. The 3d backgrounds in BlazBlue look great, but the graphics in this are sub-par. I did find that Sin was quite an awesome character to play as. *Hopes for a 2d guilty gear with Sin, Raven, and Izuna in it*
Blade Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 It's kinda sad when a guy is looking really hard for flaws in a game.
Sephi_hatu Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Well, its not a perfect game. Im just answering the question 'why is it not perfect'. Alot of the stuff I point out isnt even nitpicking. Im just holding it up to the standards of other games. What might work in a 2d fighter doesnt work in a 3d game. Especially in the feild of character control. They got the moves (the whole 3d fighter style of input)right, but they didnt get the movement system right (Slow walking, slippery running, no in between). Also, why have a competely different moveset when locked on? Didnt seem to make any sense to me.
Silmerion Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Like, when there are larger battles involving a bunch of units, things become a little impossible to keep track of.A lot of the other stuff you write is just opinion stuff, and this is too, I guess, but trust me when I say that you'll get used to it eventually. Learn to switch targets and be selective with locking on and things will go a lot more smoothly for you. While I remember this thread exists, does anyone else think Raven is kind of half-assed as a character?
Blade Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 How to make a good game AWESOME: 1. Go in training mode. Summon as many servants as you can until they say "Stop Making Stuff!!" 2. Send servants across the board to capture everything (without touching the enemy ghost. 3. Switch to control of your opponent. Wipeout the enemies and try to recapture the bases, singlehandedly. *This is not easy*. 4. Once control is regained, summon servants and repeat step 1.

Took some time to finish and beat but, it was AWESOME! Now if you want to make a suicide mission, immediately after almost every ghost is captured, switch the controller of the servants to CPU and then you'll start dying. If your masterghost can't be destroyed...good, training mode is helping you slightly.
