PandaKingEX Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 You know what's funny about AJ? He gets even more dangerous when he runs out of tension, idk how, but he just does. I would always be like sweet he just wasted all his tension, and I still have half of mine, and then 1 minute later I'm respawning at my masterghost, lol. I LOVE THE LANCE:yaaay:. but...HATE THE HAMMER:arg:! Why do you like it? Moreover, Why do you like it more now?!? It seems like every weapon got new moves...Except the hammer. Why did they take out my precious Gunlance and Hunting horn?! ....and duel swords... The hammer didn't really get any new moves, they changed the second charge animation, and one of the animations of the 2 second finisher of hurricane. Why the hammer is so good now, is because they beefed up it's combo flexibility BIGTIME. You can cancel the 2nd and 3rd hit of your normal string into charge, you can cancel the side smack into charge as well, but side smack sucks. The first and second charge can be canceled into normal attack string. It's just way more flexibility to get stuns more easily. Also the second charge animation they changed, they changed it to a badass sliding uppercut that is so godly for fast approaches. I do miss hunting horn and gunlance, though. They were my favorite in MHFU.
Sol.Badguy Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Eh I still think you guys are over exagurating AJ and there's something we all don't know. Aj knows how to apparently do 3hits of a VV without hacking, but grand master Kimera cryin who plays this game that much, doesn't? he's the only one? eh, w/e. he doesn't play anymore anyway. Man thank goodness they fixed the hammer like that. It seemed so lame in MH1 MH2 MH2P2ndG that me and my friends developed a hate for it. I do however like the new switchaxe. i'm afraid that "every"one is going to like it too but i'll give a shot since I got 2 monster fluids right at the beginning of the game somehow . Um, fighting the ludroth(or w/e) underwater is a bitch. I do miss hunting horn and gunlance, though. They were my favorite in MHFU. My favorite too... ( T n T )
NeoVid Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Hey Genma, I'm translating the wiki, but I have many difficulties We will thank you for getting any of the JP wiki translated. Also, you made me think of searching for something, and as it turns out: http://guilty-gear.wikia.com/wiki/Guilty_Gear_2:_Overture It already exists, we just need to add useful info to it. I can't believe I never thought to check before.
Blackgenma Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Eh I still think you guys are over exagurating AJ and there's something we all don't know. Aj knows how to apparently do 3hits of a VV without hacking, but grand master Kimera cryin who plays this game that much, doesn't? he's the only one? eh, w/e. he doesn't play anymore anyway. he got the game the day it came out, and he had A LOT of respect for the fighting engine in the game. he really knew how to exploit it. Kimera probably didn't enjoy the fighting game aspects to dig into it enough for it to be abused the way AJ did. here's an example of him explaining something to me, an exploit he used (there's a number of them that he discovered). this was said the last time I pressured him about sharing the VV glitch thing. the exact damage his VV would do to opponents was 220, as I posted on gamefaqs in the thread I took the following quote from. Now, with the VV glitch, its prorating the damage output like you would in 2d fighting games. Trick the system with a something, and your next hit does more. It has something to do with the L trigger. Like I said before, its like jump install and instant air dash install. A good example, kinda, but with this u will see a valid point that im trying to make... Have you noticed Sol's Not Locked on X attack swings from right to left? Then you do his locked on 4X which is the exact same move? Now, with the LOCKED ON 4X, side step and look at how long it takes you to sidestep. Now, do his LOCKED OFF x, then lock back on with either L or R trigger and side step immediantly and look how we tricked the system into him side stepping twice as fast than normal. This alone catches people off guard cuz they expect the specific frames from his locked on 4x, and know the speed of his side step and use this to their advantage, now with his LOCKED OFF X, look how fast you move and how much advantage you have now from moving around them in an instant. doing this twice can get you completely around the opponent and you have time to intercept them before they even land a hit. I gained so much advantage with this little technique, easily turning the tide of battles and catching people off guard. This is 'glitching' the system. Yes, I do abuse it due to me figuring out. Do I need this VV 'glitch' to win? Hell no, I've won many fights without using VV before to prove a point. I use this to my advantage in servant battles the most, and a lot of the time I use random characters in masters only battles. for your information, I have not taken advantage of the trick...ever, because I applied it wrong and I didn't see a use for it when I tested it out. reading it again after all this time, I can see it being useful. note he mentions tings like "jump install" and "air dash install". he never really told me how to preform these things, but I do recall him giving me an explanation. and through the magical powers of digging through old forums, I found it. Air dash install is to air dash when ur not suppose to, u trick the system. Its the same with jump install, you know, like chipps air combo after his 2hs? you do his 22hs after 2hs, and you teleports up at the opponent when they are lifted for an air combo, but you cant double jump during this. However, if you trick the system while doing a combo like... p,k,s, 2hs, 22hs... if u start to hold up around k ~ s, you can trick the system into thinking you jumped, so when u do his 22hs, you can do an additional jump. Its not hard to do, just takes timing. This is the same case. Some of sols combos wont allow him to air dash after a certain cancel after some moves while being in the air TOO long. Even if you didnt air dash, it will cancel out your option to do it. So you must air dash install. so yeah, I don't know how to pull this off in GG2, nor have I ran into a combo that would not allow me to air dash for being in the air for too long. it could be possible for it to be a glitch in the previous versions of the game that one of the later updates fixed. remember that this game used to be updated, the last update was to prepare for the PAL release, and it added stuff like the graphical effect for healing rods and giving Sol's units black blood. We will thank you for getting any of the JP wiki translated. Also, you made me think of searching for something, and as it turns out: http://guilty-gear.wikia.com/wiki/Guilty_Gear_2:_Overture It already exists, we just need to add useful info to it. I can't believe I never thought to check before. NOT WORTH THE EFFORT. I'll have nothing to do with it. not like the majority of fans even go to something like that article anyway.
NeoVid Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Damn. I was hoping to have some help with this. Having this thread be the only good place to find out info about the game in English is not a good thing for the game at all. Well, at least now we have a place where information about the game logically should go. Now I'm going to have to learn how to format Wikia pages. Oy.
Sol.Badguy Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 So it's a glitch that requires you to trick the system to get the upper hand...Um, doesn't that sound like cheating..? Maybe it's just me but I'm glad that it doesn't exist anymore..I think I'm going to forget about it now.
PandaKingEX Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 exploits in the game system are in like ever single japanese made game ever, and the exploits usually make the game more fun, lol. Anyways, AJ figured out all kinds of awkward stuff, like the 4th hit of the lockoff string causing stun, and how to combo into holy brand with Ky. We used to practice some interesting combos and stuff together, and he has a lot of stuff that he doesn't want to share with others.
Honnou Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 So it's a glitch that requires you to trick the system to get the upper hand...Um, doesn't that sound like cheating..? Maybe it's just me but I'm glad that it doesn't exist anymore..I think I'm going to forget about it now. And you call yourself a guilty gear player? ;o JI is tricking the system and nobody calls that cheating...=\ Maybe with this info still "secret" I can understand your position but once it gets out and anybody who puts effort into it can perform it then no biggie AJ figured out all kinds of awkward stuff, like the 4th hit of the lockoff string causing stun, and how to combo into holy brand with Ky cool he has a lot of stuff that he doesn't want to share with others not cool. I still don't get people like this. What is this, east coast mahvel?
Blackgenma Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 yeah, that doesn't really say anything bad about AJ, except that he doesn't share it witch is lame, but I GUESS I can understand. Also, I don't think the VV glicth is gone , I was referring to the problem where Sol wont air dash even if you didn't air dash because he's in air too long. ....if that makes any sense. the VV glitchy thing is most likly in, ans well as all the dash installing and whachama-call-its. So yeah, go to play again after 2 weeks, playing aggressive Sol is MUCH funner then conservative Sol, but also makes me see a few things. 1) xsol is right about Sin, he is the single biggest obstacle of all the opponents For Sol. he can hide behind his units, and if Sol takes any counter measures to remove them, he sure as hell shouldn't be using gunflame, because that's an invitation for Sin to beak driver his ass for free. to move in general leaves Sol vulnerable, but Sin gets the biggest reward for this, and practically no risk. 2) my Sol master play is inadequate. I need to do big combos consistently, instead of randomly. times like these I wish someone wrote me a Sol combo guide.. 3) short dashing at an opponent is risky if not done with care. if Sin sidesteps when you short dash to him, you can't reach him unless you do a power attack to the left or the right (which is risky) because it's the only move that can reach opponents after a sidestep. also, SI can punish you if your not careful with you timing, even if you try to power attack him correctly. gotta get better with sol
Xithmos Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 I miss this game. What's with all the Sol love? Sin is where it's at. 2Y against VV into a free combo ftw.
NeoVid Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Oh yeah, could someone give me the link to the JP wiki? I just realized I've never once looked for it... doh.
Blackgenma Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 I miss this game. What's with all the Sol love? Sin is where it's at. 2Y against VV into a free combo ftw. I have literally never seen or heard of any one countering VV with the 2y. NEVER. good players don't randomly do clean VVs, especially since it's virtually impossible to break someone's guard with the move under any circumstance. The things Panda says about Sol are exaggerated, because you need considerable skill in master fighting to compensate For Sol's ridiculous lack of range, and he doesn't do crazy damage on a consistent basis unless you REALLY know how to combo well with him, and your good at predicting and baiting bursts. Sin is stupid powerful, and doesn't need any praise, because his strength is obvious. oh, and even if Sol can get rid of banana's by destroying them, he is still vulnerable as hell when doing so. here you go neovid: http://www12.atwiki.jp/guiltygear2/
NeoVid Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Thanks for the link. Looking over some of the servant guides, I was highly entertained by finding out that Japanese players refer to carrying units in your item slots "Pokemoning."
Sol.Badguy Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 good players don't randomly do clean VVs Dun steal my strategy, but I clean VV, then on block of 1st hit I cancel and (F) 8x =]. Works likea charm.
Blackgenma Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Dun steal my strategy, but I clean VV, then on block of 1st hit I cancel and (F) 8x =]. Works likea charm. I'm stealing that. Edit:Sol.badguy, whats your 1 vs 1 strategy with Sol anyway?
Sol.Badguy Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 I'm stealing that. Bastard...If you do that to me imma rape you.
Blackgenma Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Sounds like a gimmick tactic anyway, but it will be good for a nasty surprise and an easy 100-150 damage. oh, and I had a bunch of masters only with some random jp guy, and won all of them with the exception of when he played Sin (dammit). during one of the match-up, it was a Sol vs Sol mirror match. I was surprised to find out that Sol's power attack can knock Sol clean out of volcanic viper. I know it sounds strange that I was surprised by this, seeing as I posted that the move breaks super armor, but I had assumed that VV and VT were for the most part, unbreakable. the surprise aside, it was pretty funny, I never seen Sol sent flying out of a VV, even if I was on the receiving end. I love the screams the characters make when sent flying. both English and jp voices. Edit: Sol Vs Raven masters only. http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm10451862 the Sol player gets spanked, but you may learn a thing or two about raven, and his j. 8x is countered in an interesting way (by jumping at him and smacking him mid air before he dives). I like some of the Combos Raven does. Sol Vs Izuna Masters only http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm10451457 you might pick up a thing or two from this. interesting ways to keep out the Izuna player, and "meh" quality combos. not too bad of a watch. Sin Vs Raven http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm10452098 This one is of better quality then the last two. Sin does insane amounts of damage.
Arvoyea Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 So yeah, I like playing this game. I need some help. I suck when it comes to sending out servants and making sure they capture ghosts. And I tend to lose against the computer. Also having problems with Mission #8 in Campaign.
NeoVid Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 New player! Someone who's actually qualified to, tell them how to play! Anyway, one thing I can tell you in general is that you should not get caught up fighting with your Master for too long, or you'll lose track of what's going on in the rest of the battlefield. The times when you finish a long fight and then notice you have no units left on the board never stop being depressing. However, you should also try never to have your Master standing around useless for more than a few seconds, either. Your own character is the most powerful thing in the game, and you need to influence the battle as much as possible, even if it's just ferrying your troops around yourself. What is it you have to do on Mission 8? I have good strategies for them all, but I need a reminder of which one that is. Oh, this reminds me, I still can't find the Chimakis in Underworld Hill, or Level 16 (the one where you use Sin alongside Ky)
Blackgenma Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Copied and pasted a response I gave to someone else a while back. strategy for beating mission 8 go spam drills and tell them to go to the center in an attempt to hold back valentine's forces right at the start. charge valentine and beat her up right away. when she dies, use lock off forward x (power attack) on the masterghost and modern cancel each strike to hit with it over and over again until it is destroyed. buy a tension potion if you have to. this is the easiest way to do the mission on hard or on any difficulty for that matter. fire wheel won't help, there are too many enemies for it to handle, so don't bother rushing him out. you can also do it the harder, more fun way, but you need to be good at the game to do it, espeacially at using the organ and knowing all the placements of treasure chests and such. just use the above method and you'll be fine. as for advice on playing the game regularly, try reading the FAQ in gamefaqs, and playing the game enough to get used to the organ. a lot of skill in managing servants and master comes from just playing the game enough to get used to it.
Sol.Badguy Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Dont listen to people on here lol. go watch replays till your eyes bleed.
Ayumu Gardevoir Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Dont listen to Ayu lol. go watch replays till your eyes bleed. fix'd
Blackgenma Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 I looked up the replay section full of nothing but guilty blood owning idiots who don't know how to play. check out my GG2 video thread, and watch him lose. its hip. http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7935
PandaKingEX Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 I hate the replays off the leaderboard. Everyone only uploads replays where they pwnsauce someone anyways. Hardly ever any good interesting matches.
