To anyone who got the JP version, would importing GameFaqs saves of 3rd Birthday and Birth By Sleep do the trick? lol

Are you talking about for the 4th costumes? I thought you needed product codes for those, not data. Also it probably depends if this is connected to SE Members, if it is then having another's save won't help.

An awesome game from the makers of Persona :3 July 27 can't come soon enough >.< also a little tidbit the main character, Vincent, is voiced by Troy Baker Snow of FFXIII fame = w=

Well, I'm taking it slow since it's the JP version and I don't give a crap about equips. Going fast and skipping Tutorials makes Mog angry and he makes Desperado Chaos attack you with MAX STATS. (vs a level 1 eep!)

So far I've done Lightning and Vaan's routes in Treachery of the Gods, and the world map is...well it's quite expansive, dungeons feel a lot "looser" and there's less pressure to complete them compared to the DP points system. Summons are bought in the Kupo shop or found in dungeons, which makes them much easier to get now. And I guess there's a few spots you can re-enter and build your characters a bit.

I still haven't figured out how to "block" map enemies' attacks. I can quickmove on bridges (Triangle), cut things (Circle), and dodge (X), but so far that's it, L+R and D-Pad rotate the camera. The map is pretty for a PSP game though, but so far, nothing I recognize from FF1 as far as landmarks go, just old ruins here and there.

Also, for some reason you can cut your allies on the map. D:

Strange that I haven't gotten any mognet letters yet. No sign of Gil or Desperado yet. I'll keep playing till I figure stuff out. Meanwhile, here's more findings:

Lightning has an Extra Skill Equip that lets her "start" the match either as a Ravager or Medic, which is nice depending on how you like to play (and considering how good Rav gets for her later on).

Gave Vaan a try...his Brave attacks feel heavy and unwieldy at first, but once you get a feel for what each move can do, he's not bad. His HP attacks are some of the best-multi-directional I've seen.

On to Cloud: since I'm still low-level with him, I've had to rely on Cross-Slash a lot for my damage, and believe me, the tracking on Cross-Slash has vastly improved, he has a lot more ground range now. Meteorain is harder to dodge too. His "air scoop" bash no longer has Chase properties (a nerf), but considering he now has a double cut chase move that does the job and Slash-blow as well, it's not too big a deal.

Yuna is kinda odd, you have to really think about her range when using Summons. Shiva is very close range, while Ifrit has a little space to work with. Also summons feel like they "stay in one place" while you move, so it feels different, somewhat like Carl I think.

I used Laguna a bit and man his arsenal is freaking huge...lots of stuff he can do, lots of ways to do it, you can't really let your guard down with him, can't wait to try him VS Exdeath or Cloud of Darkness.

No museum yet, so meh...we'll see. :)

Lightning doesn't punch them? D< Just kidding

not really lol

That's funny to hear the mog get mad if you skip the tutorials though haha! Thanks for the info Blade. I'm pretty excited for this game. Luckily college will keep me busy (except for spring break next week but that'll go by fast too) and then it shall be released here in the US before I know it.

Oh yeah, and seriously, the Laguna leg cramp scene is just...lol it's Dark Cloud fanservice to say the least.

For anyone who didn't play through the First Dissidia, this game covers that and then some, in fact I'd say it's a better version of the story, since you actually get to talk to your allies mid-story and get a clearer idea of what's going on. Also, I recommend unlocking all the extra music before completing these story modes, it makes the game more engaging if you do (FF7 Battle music for random encounters is always awesome).

Here's a breakdown of what I've found so far:

Treachery of the Gods:

Goes through Lightning, Vaan, Laguna, Kain, and Tifa's stories that essentially give the backdrop to the Crystal Saga, gives lots of opportunity to earn KP.

Return of the Light (I think that's the title):

Goes through the rest of the story but does an even more explorative job of it. There's an addition of stat-boosting or detrimental panels in the dungeons. This is also the first time the game actually begins to "penalize" you for your Levels when you enter a dungeon. I've gotten -25 KP in some areas, so if you really want those Summons, you have to lower your stats, now, I don't know if doing so takes away your skillsets or not, but it's possible that it doesn't. Also, take careful consideration in how you use "chain" skills that let you attack enemies on the dungeon maps in multiple directions, if you bite off more than you can chew, you lose KP, or worse, end up forced to fight a hard battle with low HP. (Manikins on higher difficulties love spamming HP attacks and dodge everything). Other than that, don't be too eager to fill up your item slots as you only get so many to use per dungeon and finding treasures sometimes forces you to dump something.

Reports:

Story reports that cover the Chaos side of things prior and during Cycle 012, some stuff is cutscenes, others are a series of battles using certain Chaos characters. You can tell what sections to check out by hitting Square, though I recommend leveling up the villains a bit beforehand or equipping them properly.

Confessions of the Creator:

Haven't tried it yet, except that it involves a custom team party of your own choosing, so take advantage of your best characters.

About Party Mode:

Besides being the easiest way to level up characters you're not so good with, depending on what job class you task certain characters with, they get certain boosts they wouldn't ordinarily have, such as putting Tina in the Black Mage slot, so that her magic is more effective. In a way this mode is lot like Guilty Gear's 3 on 3 mode, as you essentially keep a single HP count from one battle to the next. Each win nets your whole party EXP, unfortunately it doesn't split AP so only the active character gets that for skills. The only time Party Mode kinda "breaks rank" is at the end of Treachery of the Gods where each character fights their "story nemesis" instead of a series of battles.

I hope that covers the main stuff without spoiling anything. I honestly recommend playing this from scratch instead of importing your Exp, since the game feels more engaging if you do, though earning AP and CP management will be a pain as always, lol.

More later.

Thanks for all the details Blade!

Can't wait to hear more about Confessions of the Creator :o Also have you messed around with the custom quest mode? I'm just curious how adjustable it really is.

So far, judging from how many settings you get in VS Mode and Party Mode alone...I can say that it's a mix of Labrynth Mode (Colleseum from First Dissidia), and the ability to set rules and items and rewards for various areas. I don't know if you can set what items or enemies to fight or all that, but...considering how many rules there are to mess with, it's pretty difficult to understand (and me being Japanese illiterate doesn't help).

I'd suggest before you even consider making a quest, unlock all the stuff in PP Catelogue first, that way you're not missing anything.

So, I'm already on chapter 8 of the first story mode, and I have no way to play with my army of 100 lvl characters without any equipment, so here are my short opinions on the new chars.

Lightning is certainly built to be a beginner-friendly character: she simply does everything. Most of her HP attacks are pretty easy to dodge, though, so her true potential will probably be revealed only when I unlock her Brave-HP links. It's also fun to block the enemy Watera, block the next Watera that Lightning makes and watch her run away from two balls of hurt.

Kain is the most mobile character so far, even more mobile than Kuja or Zidane. It takes some practice to understand where exactly you want your enemy to be, but if you do things right, you may get a nice set-up for tons of bonus Brave damage on your HP attacks. Though I find it frustrating that it's really difficult to dodge his Jump, but the enemy does that without any effort.

Tifa is probably my favorite newcomer so far. Her feints can actually punish enemy blocks AND dodges, and sometimes get rid of her main downside: very, very short range. Her Blizzard projectiles are also ridiculously good, especially Blizzara, which ground slams. Not a character that you can pick and go smash faces right away, but she will become a force to be afraid of if you're dedicated. Just like my good old man Jecht.

I didn't expect great things of Vaan, but his arsenal makes him fun to both play and customize. It's really hard to find a move that you don't like, and it may take forever to finally decide on your favorite build for him. Too bad that the same thing can't be said about his HP attacks. Eruption and Tornado are probably his best HP attacks, but even they are too predictable for my tastes. I like to think of him as the new Squall: more fun, but less useful.

Laguna plays like a really, really weird mage. His range is impressive, his Brave game is strong, but his aerial moves deal surprisingly small amounts of damage (while the rest of the mages have identical ground and aerial moves). Even his awesome-looking rockets have poor aim and deal laughable damage. Just stay on the ground, wait for the enemy to come closer, and pray to Cosmos that the fight doesn't take place in Planet's Core.

Finally, Yuna takes quite a long time to learn abilities for some reason (to the point that I've already mastered most of the moves I do have). Her summons basically allow her to play the fighter role on a safe range of a mage, so the enemy may not have enough time to punish you. I kinda wish that her style was more interesting, and not just another Onion Knight-like all-rounder. Even her EX mode simply boosts her existing moves without giving her any interesting properties. Still, some of her moves have all kinds of awesome in them, especially her Valefor HP attack. It's so, so good, I feel warm and fuzzy every time I land it. Oh, and I also like the fact that she can equip guns.

Okay so, beating Treachery of the Gods unlocks the First 8 Reports, and depending on what you have to do, the last few "missions" in chapters 7-8 will unlock Prische and Gilgamesh!

You have to "beat" Gilgamesh in order to unlock him, but, hell, I sicked a Level 1 Bartz on him and he went down like cake, so no biggie.

Okay here's my writeup on Gilgamesh:

Random doesn't even BEGIN to describe what you're dealing with. Each time you face him (or use him) he goes through a cycle of swords in his Brave attacks. I'll try and list them all here:

Halberd (Moderate Damage)

Chicken Knife (I think this gets powered up every time you dodge an attack successfully but I'm not sure, just be prepared to eat Coward's Punishment in Chaos Rules)

Beastmaster?? (Not sure if this is Auron's monster catching sword or not, but it looks similar)

Axe (Not sure if this is the Rune Axe)

Masamune? (Looks like it, but it could be the Koutetsu too)

Excalipoor (Does 1 BP damage per poke, especially annoying when you're about to break an enemy)

Excalibur (Pretty much guarantees Critical or Near-Critical hits)

Zantetsuken (Odin's sword, will just about guarantee a Break, or do nasty damage if it doesn't).

Anyway, I don't know what all the effects of the swords are (some say one of them saps EX gauge but I can't confirm that yet), he will most of the time do moderate to crappy damage or just outright Break someone in a single combo. The cycle of weapons he uses is different every battle but, I think once IN battle, the rotation might be fixed (in other words if you figure out the pattern, you can take advantage of it), not that anyone would BOTHER with that, but it's worth noting which weapon you used last before going into EX Mode, as it'll almost always be the next weapon in the rotation. (Note that most Brave attacks involve 2 of the same weapon).

As I said before, his EX Mode can be brutal as hell or crappy as hell (you do NOT want 8 Excalipoors, that's just asking for an EX Break). He will have any of these combinations:

8 of the same weapon (depending on the rotation)

4 on left, 4 on right (two different weapons, the next two weapons in rotation)

4 Halberds (double grip)

All 8 weapons at once (total random mess, I don't know the odds of getting this)

Then of course there's his EX Burst, it might be cheap, but equipping Auto EX Omega will guarantee he gets Excalibur every time, or you can just guess and hope, lol.

In general, the nice thing about Gilgamesh is that even his HP attacks, despite being just as random, are semi Brave Attacks too, so he can still rack up SOME damage.

BEST. MOMENT. IN. GAME.: Gilgamesh VS Sephiroth on the Phantom Train. :D :D :D

Thanks for the character write ups guys! Someone hurry up an unlock Prishe! :kitty:

Yeah from watching the vids alot of Lighting's HP attacks did see rather slow, but they looked to have some good range on them, however I'm fine with her being a beginner friendly character with some depth ^^ I'll probably be using her and Prishe alot (along my old mains Ultemcia and Squall)

Just 3 more weeks = w=

Gilgamesh's weapons:

Excalibur: Doubles Brave damage dealt

Excalipoor: All Brave damage dealt is reduced to 1

Naginata (Spear): No special effect other than increased range

Masamune: Increases the amount of EX... dust generated

Genji's Katana: Depletes enemy EX Guage

Zantetsuken: Has a chance of instantly breaking the opponent

Battle Axe: Damage dealt is random

Chicken Knife: The lower Gilgamesh's HP, the more Brave damage he does

Actually, I have just unlocked Gilgamesh and Prishe (which was much easier than I thought). It's pretty hard to level them (Labyrinth mode gives way less EXP than usual), so it may be too early to give my proper opinion on them. For now, I can say that Prishe is the most newbie-friendly brawler of the three, at least after you spent hours on customizing her.

I'm thinking about playing other Story modes for now, as they all work differently now. Even if I had my characters on level 1, you don't have to play them all on 100% now, so it will take much less time than before.

Posted (edited)

Alright, I see maybe you guys are hurting for some Prishe info. She just happens to be my new main (level 100 bitches :3) so I'll just take some notes.

She has 8 BRV attacks in all, for 20 CP each, and can link to any of her other ones as a set combo for 10 CP (Like Onion Knight has his links, it's the same thing.) That means, mastered, each of her 'combos' are only 15 CP in total. Certain links will give you an additional bonus for having performed a 'skillchain.' They are as follows.

Liquefaction:

Combo -> Spinning Attack

Raging Fists -> Spinning Attack

Howling Fist -> Spinning Attack

Detonation:

Combo -> Backhand Blow

Shoulder Tackle -> Backhand Blow

One Inch Punch -> Backhand Blow

Raging Fists -> Backhand Blow

Howling Fist -> Backhand Blow

Reverberation:

Howling fist -> Shoulder Tackle

Impaction:

Shoulder Tackle -> Combo

Shoulder Tackle -> Shoulder Tackle (Assuming you can link to the same skill)

Shoulder Tackle -> Raging Fists

Shoulder Tackle -> Spinning Attack

Shoulder Tackle -> Howling Fist

Compression:

Howling Fist -> One Inch Punch

Transfixion:

One Inch Punch -> Howling Fist

Fusion:

Spinning Attack -> Combo

Spinning Attack -> Shoulder Tackle

Spinning Attack -> Raging Fists

Spinning Attack -> Spinning Attack

Gravitation:

Backhand Blow -> One Inch Punch

Her EX effect is that after your set combo, she can perform the last move of your combo a second time, making for a three hit combo. This makes for some two-skillchain combo possibilities, as follows:

Liquefaction -> Fusion

Combo -> Spinning Attack -> Spinning Attack

Raging Fists -> Spinning Attack -> Spinning Attack

Howling Fist -> Spinning Attack -> Spinning Attack

Reverberation -> Impaction

Howling Fist -> Shoulder Tackle -> Shoulder Tackle

Impaction -> Liquefaction

Shoulder Tackle -> Spinning Attack -> Spinning Attack

Anyways, I'll touch on her moves, too:

Ground

Combo - A three hit combo

Howling Fist - A windup punch, arm-spinning and everything. Can be charged to go further.

Dragon Kick - Sweep kick. can be charged (I think)

Shoulder Tackle - Like Tidus' move. She jumps backwards and then tackles forward. A pretty good dodge move.

Banish - A magic attack kinda like Firion's fire, except not useful at all. Decent range, but it's slow and doesn't do much damage. No real uses have been found yet regarding combos. On top of that, can't be combo'd like all the rest of her moves.

Air

Backhand Blow - A quick, strong attack. I think it breaks guard, but I haven't had a chance to test it out (can't fight a human until I get a new modem >.>)

Spinning Attack - Pretty much an aerial Shoryuken.

Raging Fists - Like Combo, except 6 hits instead of 3. Each hit does less damage, but you can continue the move until you've exhausted all your hits, so it's alright for mindgames.

One-Inch Punch - Short range chargable punch. I think it breaks guard.

Holy - Like Cloud's fire attack. Same as Banish, it doesn't do much damage and it's slow. Unlike Cloud's fire, it's not persistant, so it's not even a good pressure tool.

General impressions: Prishe moves fast and hits hard. She really is a great character, from what I can tell.

Anyways, credit goes to Khellendros and Demitel of the Dissidia Forums for the move list translations and the skillchain possibilities.

I might be back later if nobody still has any info about Desperado Chaos. Here's a video to tide you over:

(As a quick summary, his BRV depletes constantly, and he can't go EX or have an Assist without certain skills (equipping these skills gives him a lot less CP to spend on moves and crits))

Edited by Ghurdrich

Thanks Ghurdrich for the Prishe details + w+

lol I love that all the skill links were taken directly out of XI (if you did those moves with others in that order those were the chain attacks that would occur). Also do you mind sharing her base stats at lvl 100?

Also Holy and Banish suck because they're White Mage moves :v:

Green Chaos makes me sick :kitty: And I was aware of the depleting Brv, but it does even return to a base number! You just keep shuffling between nothing and 1 = w= yeah Chaos is pure shits and giggles although people are still gonna try and use him me thinks.

it's awsome seeing all this info comeing in. getting a good idea of how all the new characters are working, though i'm more interested on how different all the returning characters are, can't really seem to tell just from videos how different anyone is (cept for the emperor)

specifically looking for any new info on my kuja >o> first one to supply some will have my eternal love <3....and a cookie
