Zoogstin Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 That's what I meant. I was curious as to how many of the frames are invincible. I didn't expect the entire move to be invincible. But I'm happy that its a legit reversal. It can possibly be good for dodging bursts like A vivace.
Adelheid Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 It always did that, since bursts don't have foot attribute It was also always kind of a ghetto reversal since it was longer than A vivace and got you out of there better, though you had to correctly identify what they were doing. And they could wakeup throw you. Which they can still do.
feri Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 There was no mention of 3c UT time being undone on the first page so does 3c > cantata still work?
ioKain Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Normal 3C can be teched, a CH however cannot. So probably the only way your gonna get 3C, Cantata is on CH.
ioKain Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 (edited) Carl + ☆ブリオが完全空ガ不可に戻る Brio is back to being completely unblockable in air WHOOOOOOOAAAAA. Back to being unblockable? I don't recall it ever being unblockable in the tests. Edited November 18, 2010 by ioKain
Marisa Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 WHOOOOOOOAAAAA. Back to being unblockable? I don't recall it ever being unblockable in the tests. It was unblockable in CT
ioKain Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 o lol, that explains it since I played Noell/Ragna in CT and rarely played any Carls in CT. Excuse my nubbery.
ZONG_one Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 You could barrier it in CT though. This says completely air unblockable. I'm assuming you can still barrier it. Also, wallbounce in corner! :] Cantabile untechable until they hit the ground too! :]
soujiro seta Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 No its great for pressure because it has no hitstun. Thus making it great for tick throws and throw baits. Oh, what I meant was using volante as a zoning tool and trying to approach with nirvana as it travels. Then again carl shouldn't be able to full screen zone like true zoners, lol, so I was expecting too much. Brio being unblockable . lol, i don't think that change will stay, it seems too good to be true. I think arc is just pulling our leg. updates not in first post Carl: + opponent cannot air tech after being hit by Cantabile + Brio wallbounces in corner, untech time after being wallbounced increased Untechable cantabile makes sense, cause in the current system carl has no way of launching a sandwiched grounded opponent into the air unless he uses 4D. I'm talking about after you've already hitconfirmed. Since non-CH 3C is techable, 5B 2B 3C 2]D[ j.2C allecan won't work anymore. So I'm guessing 5B 6B cantabile 2]D[ > juggle combo would be the way to go. Looks like arc really is strengthening Brio. hmm, that unblockable change might just stay, although I doubt it. Lol, I think arc is sad that they took away 8D unblockable and they want to repay us back .

Also, wallbounce in corner! :] Cantabile untechable until they hit the ground too! :] You could barrier brio in CT??? iirc brio was completely unblockable, like 8D, in CT. I'm probably wrong though.
ZONG_one Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 iirc you could. shit's faster than clap, WAY faster. lol so broken if barrier isn't effective.
soujiro seta Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 iirc you could. shit's faster than clap, WAY faster. lol so broken if barrier isn't effective. lol, yeah that's why I said it's too good to be true. I'm guessing by air unblockable he means you need barrier. It's just he says "Brio is back to being completely unblockable in air". 8D in CS1 is completely unblockable in air, which is why i'm led to believe brio is too. Ofcourse he could have exaggerated due to excitement, so verification on whether is completely unblockable, or can only be barrier block is needed.
ZONG_one Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 That's the one word that threw me off. "completely." It could be a translation thing, or maybe he really said completely. It just doesn't seem logical. >.>
Zoogstin Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 I can definitely attest to the fact that you could barrier Brio and be fine in CT. Of course no barrier and you ate the nails. Man Carl is looking really exciting. I love this character.
ZONG_one Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Every version has so many new possibilities for him, it seems like. We have a character we can't be told exactly how to play, since he has so many options, it's amazing. :]
soujiro seta Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 (edited) I can definitely attest to the fact that you could barrier Brio and be fine in CT. Of course no barrier and you ate the nails. Man Carl is looking really exciting. I love this character. Thanks for the correction. So it probably means you need barrier. I'm guessing this is somewhat of a severance pay for not having j.B FC anymore. Carl practically has no FC anymore, 2C is useless. FC j.B made his approach safer, and made jumping nirvana to get to carl harder for opponents cause carls could fish for it. I mean, after getting fataled like 4 times in a round people learned to stop pushing buttons. I had people who i played a week ago send me messages about how they're seeking medical help cause of the reoccuring FC j.B nightmares they keep having, lol. I'm assuming brio needing barrier in the air is arcs way of saying, "well you don't have a FC anymore, so we hope this helps". This change is actually good in the current system. Burst rounding down, everyone except tager having 2 after a burst, and 8D taking 2 primers. Now barrier will be more precious, and once they are almost out brio will practically be a free guaranteed AA. They can't jump as often after a burst, can't poke at nirvana for free cause of anima SA, 3D pickup.......oh the possibilites. Hopefully it all stays Edited November 18, 2010 by soujiro seta
soujiro seta Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Also DAT 1 primer taken from fuoco/4D/2D will play a bigger role. After a burst, they block fuoco/4D/2D, they are down to 1, they need to barrier brio/fuoco/2D/4D, their barrier guage depletes > double damage combo
Zeero Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 (edited) um... i thought Brio was completely air unblockable in CT like 8D... I'm pretty sure because I was bitching about it when CS first came out how Carl lost a zoning tool... and to quote zong's CS changes from the strategy thread (since i dont ever want to dig out CT to test lol) →↓↘D: has guard point and barrier guard blockable in the air, advantage on block. I mean like... "barrier guard blockable" being a change must mean something right? But uh, while I like the change, its kind of stupid... because now you have airthrow -> brio loops (depending on how far the knockback change is from Brio) so unless they play with the hitstun of the move... you're gonna get corner (maybe even midscreen) airthrow infinites... Edited November 18, 2010 by Zeero
Zoogstin Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 No I recall that you could barrier it. The thing is people got hit by it so much in CT because 1. Its relatively fast for a Nirvana move 2. No one expects to have to barrier anything that far away. =)
ZONG_one Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Gimme infinites then. pft. lol. In all seriousness, maybe we have some XXAC Eddie corner loops. Whatever > allegretto > brio corner wallbounce > land sj.B > dj.2C > allegretto > brio wallbounce.
Isuyaru Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Brio was absolutely air unblockable in CT; barrier would not save you. Airthrow brio loops wouldn't be an issue any more than they currently are. Either way, I doubt they'd put it back to how it was in CT. Actually, during the CS1 loketests, even I was hoping they'd change it to stop being unblockable, but just need barrier.

Lol, yeah I thought so cause I remember it being completely unblockable like 8D. I don't remember brio ever being blocked at all. Yeah air throw brio loop would be dumb, so I don't think it that change will stay, assuming that by "completely unblockable" he meant "you need barrier". Fully unblockable like 8D would be lolzy. tager would be f$%^#@. I hope they make it require barrier in the final version though. Edited November 18, 2010 by soujiro seta
soujiro seta Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Now I think about it, because 3C is techable we don't have our current summon combo anymore. We'll probably have to do -5B 6B cantabile 22D 2D j.2C allecan vivace -5B 6B cantabile 22D 4C]D[ j.C.... -5B 6B cantabile 22D j.2C allecan volante 5C vivace. or Maybe even just cantabile 22D volante vivace depending on how fast volante comes out hmmm, i wonder if 5B 6B cantabile 22D volante j.2C allecan 4D 5C j.B 66 5C sjc j.B....would work.
AzureWind Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 I'm confused about j.C's kd attribute. Does that mean it has the properties of Rags' Axe Kick or Jin's 214C?
