Sophisticat Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 After much anticipation, that shadow valk is back: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12365147 He starts in teh second match, he plays against lambda, it seems to me once valk can be learned to be played effectively lambda's zoning isn't THAT threatening. Uploaded to YT and cut out non-Valk gameplay like last time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHSWrjRSI3Y I'm really curious to see how Valk will be played when he's figured out. He might just be the most entertaining character to watch in motion.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 that valk player makes me smile. THIS http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12376167 THIS TOO http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12376153 AND ALSO THIS
AleXander Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Uploaded to YT and cut out non-Valk gameplay like last time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHSWrjRSI3Y thanks for toobin all these vids homie.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12398560 it's probably sendatu playing, since I know he has a fairly solid valk that uses that color palette, nice variation to his combos. Can't really say much since I don't have valk yet >_>
Sophisticat Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 Can't really say much since I don't have valk yet >_> If you ask me, he's most definitely S tier. :P (Incredible pressure and mixup in Wolf combined to high damage and mobility makes this very likely. Just look at how quickly he dispatched that Bang. He does seem to have trouble vs. Zoners and once he's being pressured, but his advantages seem to outweigh his weaknesses by a fair margin EDIT: On the other hand and going off this vid, I would be very amused if it turns out he makes quick work of the top tier, but loses to bottom. That'd be unique. :P) YT vid coming in a bit.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 A or B tier, MAYBE, still too early and his defense is shit along with no projectiles. His overall damage output is indeed s/a tier though, but overall a or b by my estimates once things settle down in continuum shift.
Jais Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 EDIT: On the other hand and going off this vid, I would be very amused if it turns out he makes quick work of the top tier, but loses to bottom. That'd be unique. :P) XD Johnny is pretty good against SL, ED, PO and gets destroyed by everybody else
Sophisticat Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12398560 it's probably sendatu playing, since I know he has a fairly solid valk that uses that color palette, nice variation to his combos. Vid is up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJT61Gu-4VY Much faster this time since I didn't have to cut out stuff + process. Yay.
STenSatsu Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 He's definitely no higher than A tier, and low A at that. At best he's even with Ragna at the bottom imo. My feeling is more top of B+ tier. His damage isn't even abnormally high for A tier really. Carl gets like 4-5k+ off decent starters and has way better mixup. Ragna is basically faster Valk with better defensive options and worse pure mixup options. Tao has 4-7k damage off most stuff and her mixup is decent but her movement is way way better. Haku does 3.5-5k off most good starters as well. Also have to realize that all Valk footage we've seen is pretty much console and online afaik. Probably not up against the cream of arcade scene crop. EDIT: Sendatu is absurd. Guy is like top 10 PSR with half the cast and had 85+% win rate as Haku in CT lol.

Ross Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12459458 white valk again. Doing some crazy relaunches. Basically anything that isn't a 236c combo = 7dash into relaunch. Especially godlike is the combo at 4:10 of 6c.... probably best midscreen 6c combo I've seen.
pikdum Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Too bad he kept getting punished for abusing 236a
Emerald Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 What was interesting about that set was the enormous damage potential of each character. It was like watching a CT match in terms of raw damage output with them both easily putting out 4-6k. It doesn't surprise me that they are nerfing their damage at all.
Sophisticat Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Finally got around to upping to YT. http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12448922 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12459458 white valk again. Ross Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/zeth07 if you go their and search for fmross you can see me play... but don't judge to harsh I have no knowledge of matchups so any tips are appreciated.
femoral Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-D9c2-msbc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XXRcQ2vsjU My first tournament debut with valkenhizzle. critiquing appreciated. trying to get around all of llamdas guard breaks is driving me insane.
Ross Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 I only watched the first one so far, but looks good. Right now you like everyone else are getting away with alot of free overheads after 236c even when people block, don't forget to incorporate more straight wolf game in. You don't even have to do it off of a wolf transform move. Just j.D, [w] J.b sets up good stuff. Random combo note: You don't need to [w]5.a after the 236c you can just do straight [w]5b. Edit: I know what I just said, but you can actually do a better variation of the normal bnb if you do put 5a in there. Femoral godlike. thanks!
BladeOfJustice7 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Shadow valk is back, it seems like he's also one of the top arakune's online. His valk come sin at the end against tager: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12539604

Ross Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 damn, nice work on shadow valk. Also I like the new extension that he is going for, very similar idea to the dash concept I have from wolf form, I wonder if its any easier.
STenSatsu Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Looks pretty easy. j.b>3c>j.a>land 5d>5b>etc. I also like the land> W 236a>236b>j.236a>j.236b combo he was doing after tk H j.214b.
Ross Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Yeah it definitely looks easier, cause getting the dash version is really not : ( if your in the corner doing those wolf combos nets you less damage then doing some grounds string after tk j.214b. In general lots of good ideas in their.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Shadow valk: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12619163 he uses valk in the last match.
Sophisticat Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Shadow valk: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12619163 he uses valk in the last match. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMwaTLZs5YY Interesting use of Wolf movement in this vid. Seems like he can do it twice in a row for some feint/bait work among other things. Hopefully he won't be nerfed so much that he won't display interesting stuff like this in the future.
