dummyacct7 Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 ...and could anyone do a Platina color edit of her in Dark Magician Girl's colors for me please? I have an idea for an avatar. Something like that? Wasn't sure what colours to make certain accessories, and didn't feel like re-drawing anything other than the weirdness of her collar, but whatever... Dustloop seems to want to resize it ever so slightly to display that it makes the edges all a little fuzzy... Weird.
HiagoX Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Regarding that video LOVELYBRIDGET uploaded. Her airdash is not only really long, but extremely fast as well. She has more moves resembling May than I thought. "Yowai yowai~"
Starlight777 Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 (edited) When did we get that thread icon? Also Platinum's hilarious attack sound effects make this wait even more painful. Edited December 10, 2010 by Starlight777
Yggjrasil Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 That is perfect dummy, thats how i imagined the palette, thanks man! and shtkn the icon is pretty bitchin, but whats gonna be her clever subtitle for the forums though?

Kantan Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Didn't get much time to play her, but I'll tell you what I could learn Her 22C just seems to tack on a little (VERY little) damage after a knockdown. You have to input it SUPER early or else they'll tech long before it can come out or, worse, after it came out, causing you to whiff and become EASILY punished. The move IS RCable, which can lead to a small combo, but it doesn't seem like you can do a very long combo after this sort of thing. My initial tests of j236C caused me to initially think "What the fuck is this shit" but I DID find a use for it! If you use it after landing a 6C, you can cancel out of it and basically continue the combo on the ground. I'm no genius at figuring out combos and shit, so I didn't pull anything fantastic off of it, but I saw some other players get some nice shit off doing this. I like 6C. I like it a lot. It's pretty much exactly like Ragna's 6D. On block, you can cancel it into air normals to keep them blocking (now overhead!). Also, the move can combo after a 6A, which can combo from 5C or 5B, but you have to be pretty close for any of that to happen. It also Fatal Counters. Invincibility on spinny super is nice. When you don't have a bat, It'll get you out of the corner and can be used in the middle of blockstrings. I don't think you can combo off of it. The recovery isn't nearly as awful as I thought it would be, but it's definitely not good. 1500 as a minimum damage sounds pretty accurate. I think most of the time I scored somewhere in the neighborhood of 1800~1900 with it after a decently long gattling just to score a round ender. Her air throw is pretty damn easy to combo off of. I don't remember move names, but I looked into her 214D a little more. It throws away melee weapons, and launches 3 of her ranged weapons (rockets and bombs). The angle the melee weapon flies at varies from weapon to weapon. Using her 236236D super... I don't think it changed it too much. It definitely alters the graphic at least. I threw an excaliborg instead of a normal bat. I think the powered up weapon was bigger than the usual one as it flew away. Other than that, I couldn't tell you if the damage or properties changed. It's hard to hit with that move... I still think it's primarily used to get rid of an item or just surprise the hell out of your opponent. It's also pretty damn useful for the ranged weapons. The three rockets stay onscreen for a pretty long time, firing off one at a time. I can't tell you how many times I've surprised people with the bubbles. Just don't use it right in their face (except for Oki) and you'll be getting yourself a good number of combos for free. I also don't think it prorates as much as I expected it to, but I really wasn't paying TOO much attention to that, I was more focused on not getting my ass handed to me. Now for nonsense The horsey ending is the biggest and best incentive I've ever had to win a fighting game ever The new announcer is AWFUL. They sound like they went out of their way to find the most nasally, un-enthused, non-english-speaking Japanese woman they could and told her to read lines. It's painful. REEBER WAN! AKSHUHN! Platinum's astral works in the air. I wanted to test if it would work off of throw, but never got around to it. Next time. Most importantly, when she hits with it, the music changes. I couldn't hear it too well in the noisy arcade, but it sounded J-poppy and wonderful and I already want an mp3
Urichinan Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Kantan, this is going to be weird... But I'm going to TRY and write up some combos for you to test. First off see if 6A > Bubble works, and then see if 236B > Dash > 5C > 2C > Bubble works, and then see if you can do a 2B > 5B/5C/6A pickup after 3C. Soooooooooooo. 5B > 6A > j.B > j.C > dj > j.B > j.C > j.236AAA 6A > Bubble > 236B > Dash > 5C > j.B > j.C > dj > j.B > j.C > j.236AAA (This one may not work, also if 236B > Dash > 5C doesn't work mid-screen try it in the corner) 5B > 5C > 3C > 2B > 5B > j.B > j.C > dj > j.B > j.C > j.236AAA (If 2B > 5B doesn't work then try another pickup, I hope this combo works) 5B > 5C > 5D(Pan) > 236B > 5C > 6A > 236B > 3C > 236A (Corner) 5C > 5D(Pan) > Dash > 5C > 2C > Bubble > 6A > j.B > j.C > dj > j.B > j.C > j.236AAA Hope you find something that works!
HiagoX Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Today I'll be translating infor for Platinum.
Urichinan Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Today I'll be translating infor for Platinum. AWESOME!! Then do Litchi!!! XD Great though, can't wait for the response. Hopefully we'll get some good information.
Kantan Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 There's nothing weird about that, I like this idea. I'm bad at making up my own combos anyway... (hence why I'm on dustloop...) If 6A bubble works, it would most likely be the 214C bubble, I think. I'll give that a try, but any trying I do probably won't be until next Monday at the earliest. Weekends are going to be CROWDED, and I'm busy the next two days anyway. I'll go Monday afternoon and hopefully get some solo play in. 236B>dash would only work in the corner or near the corner. I've tried it a million times. That shit sends them FLYING. You can't catch up unless you're near a corner. I think I even tried RCing it and still didn't make it in time, but I could just be remembering incorrectly... I'll add that to the list too. I haven't tried pickup after 3C. Her normals seem to push people away almost as much as Hazama's (if not as much), so they're generally far, far away when I hit with 3C, allowing only for item set or bubble oki. 5B > 6A > j.B > j.C > dj > j.B > j.C > j.236AAA works, that was my BnB today. 5B > 5C > 3C > 2B > 5B > j.B > j.C > dj > j.B > j.C > j.236AAA In this one, I haven't tested the pickup, like i said, but I think you could combo this if you replace 2B with 22C>RC, but it doesn't sound like it's worth the heat unless you REALLY need damage... 5B > 5C > 5D(Pan) > 236B > 5C > 6A > 236B > 3C > 236A This seems likely as a corner combo and downright fun. I had a nice discovery I wanted to mention here, but, again, it's late and I'm mildly un-sober. One of her specials (either 236A or 236B) could be RC'd for a pretty quick crossup. I want to say it was a grounded 236A on a blocking opponent could be RC'd to basically put you on the other side of them at neutral, but I want to make sure of it before I go presenting it as a fact. I wasn't actually the one that did it, it was someone else, so that helps me me more unsure. I'M OFFICIALLY THE KING OF TL;DR D'OHOHOHOHOHO!
Urichinan Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Great to hear then, so about her 22C, is it actually useful as a combo ender, or is setting up Oki a better choice? I'd imagine that it would be better to kill someone with than setup for Oki though. Has anyone tested out the different use of her 236A~A/B/C? Like if you did 236AAB, 236ACC, 236ABC, etc.?
Kantan Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 After a 22C they can tech pretty quickly and the damage is minimal. I feel like it's only useful if you're sure it's going to kill or if you RC it for a fuller combo, but, for reasons I listed before, it doesn't even seem that great for that. I definitely favor the bubble or resetting my item... the followups seem to, like, alter where the attack hits. One more behind her, one right below her, and one right in front of her. They also seem to slightly alter the way she bounces off the opponent. I could see it potentially necessary to use a certain combination of them to get all three hits in certain, yet to be discovered situational combos and the like. That move's a pretty great combo ender. The last hit makes platinum do this sort of fast fall to catch up with the opponent she just knocked down. It's nice.
Urichinan Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Oh I see, sounds like it will be a nice tool. Now for my final question. We all kmow her air-dash is AMAZING but, how fast can you cancel into a move? For example... Bang, he has a long air-dash so he can't cancel it into a move until it's almost over, but someone like Carl, who has a average air-dash but cancel almost instantly. So how is hers?
Kantan Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 I wanna say pretty quickly, I don't recall ever having a problem with being able to cancel into a move quick enough, but this remind me about her air game! It's... it's weird... B seems to be geared toward crossups. It hits more below and BEHIND her than anything. It's really easy to jump or airdash over someone and use that right after crossing over them. C is your air to air and jump in. She swings her staff sideways (think, a lesser, more horizontal version of Ragna jC). It's not the BEST jump in, but it's range is decent. You gotta use it early for air to air (the general case for jC's). her jA... it doesn't seem to be all that good. It's just filler for those "OH MY GOD, I'M NEXT TO MY OPPONENT IN THE AIR, I GOTTA BEAT THEIR MOVE!" moments. Again, it's more horizontal than vertical. j2C still weird. Impossibly short hit stun on it and it just doesn't last as long as I'd like it to. I feel it's main use is keeping things in hitstun when you manage to hit them at the beginning of an airdash. You hit with this on the way down so you can connect with 5A/5B/6A/what-have-you when you land and continue the combo. It really seems to me that she's VERY weak against opponents above her while she's in the air. jA and jC are still your best bets (along with whatever D option you've got, of course), but those really don't seem very good to it. I had to learn very very quickly that if I was in the air, and my opponent was in the air above me, I had to block, that was the only option. This might actually be the use of j.Bat/Excaliborg afterall. When she uses it, she kinda pops up again, like another quarter of a jump in height, before swinging. The startup on it is slow (she kinda takes a breath, pops up a big, THEN swings), so it's still not the greatest option, but it may have the invulnerability of the ground bat. This all needs testing... Against most character, the bombs are AMAZING. I love them. Don't use them against noel though... Optic barrel > bombs
Chaoschao222 Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 What exactly does Optic Barrel do to her bombs? And is it likely that the other characters' projectiles (Ice Sword, Lobelias, etc.) would do the same?
Shiawase Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 (edited) Sorry if this has been discussed before, I've shown up a bit late to the Platinum party. You've talked about her air game, but how is her ground game? What are her best/most reliable pokes? Anti-airs? How well can she apply pressure? Edited December 10, 2010 by Shiawase
Cirno Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Her anti-airs have been shown to be her 6A and 2C, although 2C comes off as not so great. 5B seems to be her best ground poke, it has pretty nice range, but Kantan can clarify if I'm mistaken. Speaking of which, there's a lot of information I have to read. To the previous page!
LeFartknocker Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 (edited) What exactly does Optic Barrel do to her bombs? And is it likely that the other characters' projectiles (Ice Sword, Lobelias, etc.) would do the same? I think he means that due to the recovery on tossing bombs Noel can use Optic Barrel to punish since it appears immediately and won't collide with the bombs... This makes me think though, do any of Plat's projectiles stay on screen if she gets hit? :O EDIT: anyone notice this? Hazama air tech'd while inside of Plat's bubble... wut? I thought I understood the properties of this damn move by now but I guess not? also, the sound effect of Plat's B+C is obnoxiously awesome :D Edited December 10, 2010 by LeFartknocker
Cirno Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 I like 6C. Beautiful. Incredibly looking forward to messing with that. Platinum's astral works in the air.fuck yes One of her specials (either 236A or 236B) could be RC'd for a pretty quick crossup.oh my god this just keeps getting even more delicious This makes me think though, do any of Plat's projectiles stay on screen if she gets hit? :O I'm fairly sure I've seen the item stay on screen after she's been hit, but I'm not sure where. Would need confirmation. EDIT: anyone notice this? Hazama air tech'd while inside of Plat's bubble... wut? I thought I understood the properties of this damn move by now but I guess not? Yeah, I noticed this too. Platinum seemed to have hit Hazama into the bubble, or possibly hit him at the exact same time..? It almost seemed as the 6A hit too soon before the bubble, and the animation got a bit screwy. News about Falling Melody is expected, since Ushi said it wasn't good too.. being able to RC it is good for an extra bit of damage, but yeah, the 50% heat might be better spent on a CDT or something. Also about her air game, some of the other melee items seem to be decent too, don't they? Cat seems to have pretty decent range above her, Pan somewhat too. Not sure I've even seen the hammer used in the air before.. but possibly? Regardless, cool stuff, Kantan. I am a bit interested in Air Persia's cross-up-ability for the C version followup, if you could test that out.
Chaoschao222 Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 I think he means that due to the recovery on tossing bombs Noel can use Optic Barrel to punish since it appears immediately and won't collide with the bombs... Oh, alright, gotcha, I had considered that, but dismissed it due to the specific range of OB...
Urichinan Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 I cannot believe that the game is out, yet there is no footage... Seems kinda' strange.
Cirno Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 (edited) Kantan has already said that video taking isn't allowed. We have the single Platinum video, but that's about it. Hopefully more people will stealth-video with phone cameras. also forgot to mention, this intro of her fucking owns Edited December 10, 2010 by Cirno
Shiawase Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 (edited) How long do you guys think it will take before we get some videos from the likes of gamechariot and a-cho? :x Besides I think we'll have footage sometime next week. The weekend is coming up so that gives more people a chance to play. Edited December 10, 2010 by Shiawase
