blk_mage Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Devry was definitely a little nicer in terms of space and it all being in one room helped make it feel more like one big community instead of small ones based on our main choice in game. It also forces us to start at a certain time which forces people to show up on time which promotes punctuality. The only this is that it makes it harder to do random crap after the tournament but i'm usually gone by then anyways. :P

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooow...You're contribution to the thread is TRULY appreciated I personally like having extra time afterwards for people to chat and play casuals but SJSU was quite cramped so DeVry is a great choice just for the walking room. Although I say we consider starting earlier as to avoid overextending our stay. NCI back when John ran it started at noon. We don't need to start at 5pm, we can shoot for something like 2 or 3.

Take note of this Chun, besides venue, time constraints are always a big issue at tournaments (Though you did well at this NCI4). If we can start even earlier, like 11, it would work out great. Starting at 11 might be a bit hectic for everyone as people sleep in and usually need food around noon time soooo something around the range of 1 or 2 would be best. Means people won't be entirely zombified the whole time :3

Dacidbro Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Event open early doesn't solve anything if tournament starts same time. It's better for the tourney-goer, but much harder managerially. What they're saying is that it's going to become difficult to end on time, so eventually tournament will have to start earlier if it's Devry, with new games added to the mix.
RinHara5aki Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Its not that you have to BE ther at 11, its that it OPENS at eleven. That means its POSSIBLE for people to bring setups, hook up wires, do warm ups, get in some casuals before the real shit starts.
