KM Riku Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 I was watching some new videos in nico and I noticed a Tao doing j.8D~B instead of 2D~B. It's a much faster cross-up overhead since j.8D~B doesn't fly as high as 2D~B. The only bad part is that this cross-up is only possible after a jump cancelable move (that means 6A, 5B and 5C)
Ronove Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Well most of Tao's pressure strings end with jump cancelable moves right before the drive. Players either end with 5C>5D~A/C or 5C>214D, having an other option to go for as part of her pressure mixup is still a good thing.
LunaKage Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 It would make sense to me. but we still don't know which trope they're playing. Not sure if BB Wiki is a trustworthy place to cite from, but I can't find anything relating to them wearing a mask; Though they prod at us in the Teach Me Litchi Sensei where Rachel asks if it's a mask, I think it's just their way of making fun of us and getting us to think. I'm pretty convinced under that hood is a cat face much like Jubei's, but whether it's a mask or just the hood that keeps it black.... that's all just speculation. Tao's face is probably closer to Kokonoe, they are both technically half breeds. Also XDest, you think the new Tao loop is easy as hell? I could never get the second rep to connect, granted I didn't really try all that hard but still, I was beginning to think that it didn't work with a 6A starter due to proration or whatever. I probably just got the timing wrong.
XDest Posted May 30, 2011 Author Posted May 30, 2011 If you're not doing the dashes inbetween, it's easy as hell. It's just holding 9 and switching between D and A.
Domethieus Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 The loops are easy. Timing her J8D~A loop is easy when compared to the taunt loop.
LunaKage Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 I dunno, it just always seemed like the opponent was too high up, and they teched before the second rep even connected, I was doing it as fast as I could. Maybe I'm just fray =w= Well I AM fray with Tao, I just wanted to try the loop a tad bit, after failing for 5 minutes I gave up.
Ronove Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Tao's CS2 matchup chart according to the japanese (source japanese BBS): vs ragna 5:5 vs jin 4.5:5.5 vs noel 4.5:5.5 vs tager 6:4 vs tao - vs rachel 4.5:5.5 vs arakune 6:4 vs litchi 5:5 vs carl 5:5 vs bang 6:4 vs hakumen 5.5:4.5 vs lambda 6:4 vs tsubaki 5.5:4.5 vs hazama 4.5:5.5 vs mu 5.5:4.5 vs makoto 4.5:5.5 vs valk 5:5 vs platinum 5.5:4.5
KM Riku Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 I was going to post it later...but whatever. The only thing is that the chart I saw listed Tao Vs Hazama as 5-5, everything else is the same. So...all Tao bad matchups are all by 0.5 :V
Asino Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Hey is it possible to make a Taokaka suit for my cat, well it's still a kitten tho plz let me knoe i willing to buy!
XDest Posted June 14, 2011 Author Posted June 14, 2011 Hey is it possible to make a Taokaka suit for my cat, well it's still a kitten tho plz let me knoe i willing to buy! So does anyone know what options there are after a broken aerial purple grab? I haven't played much CS2 yet still, but I've seen a lot of different options in Japanese vids.
Stan McJeeves Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 So does anyone know what options there are after a broken aerial purple grab? I haven't played much CS2 yet still, but I've seen a lot of different options in Japanese vids. If I'm close enough to the ground (and in a corner), I've had some success with grab fail > j.2D~B > Land > 5D~A > loop. The problem with this strategy is that it's rather predictable and easily blocked, but it seems to work just fine for me online in random matches. I'd be interested to see if anyone else has other options besides this one. On a side note, I may have written that incorrectly, as I haven't played in a few days, but I do know for sure that you can pick up from an air grab fail with j.2D~B > land.
Dacidbro Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 So does anyone know what options there are after a broken aerial purple grab? I haven't played much CS2 yet still, but I've seen a lot of different options in Japanese vids. If it's extremely high in the air, the risk reward on jD~B seems uncannily good on a vast majority of the cast. If they push nearly anything you get huge reward, and if they somehow beat your attack so what :3 Lord Knight was running that on me in casuals, and I laughed so hard the first time he did it. After that I just didn't push any buttons, and was very much fine and got out of the setup better off than if he had just finished the combo.. for this to be practical, there needs to be some strong option for someone who doesn't push any buttons.
WolfCrimson Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Hey tao mains, could someone explain to me how j.8D x N works? As in mechanics wise. AFAIK, Tao has 3 jump/airdash 'stocks', and she uses 'em up when j8Ding and A/B/C cancelling of drive moves, so how can she do reps of j8D more than 2-3 times?
Mystic d Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Does Dacid play Tao? No. He started using her a bit to give me a better idea of how to use all of her options. The only way was to show me since I didn't get it just by hearing it. Hey tao mains, could someone explain to me how j.8D x N works? As in mechanics wise. AFAIK, Tao has 3 jump/airdash 'stocks', and she uses 'em up when j8Ding and A/B/C cancelling of drive moves, so how can she do reps of j8D more than 2-3 times? You land between every j.8D so it resets the amount of jumps she has
Domethieus Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Per rep, You can either hold J.7/8/9 then loop or dash in between each rep. Either way, as Mysic mentioned, she has to land~
RinHara5aki Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 If new people entering the Tao domain and are getting frustrated or dont get the new Tao loop, I can probably easily make another Tao visual combo guide like before http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ToRZmskvfro
Domethieus Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 IMO, it really shouldn't need a video. Taunt loop is understandable but this loop is easy. It basically breaks down to timing your J.8D and A cancel.
RinHara5aki Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 This for a brand new player's perspective though, IMO the hardest part I think for new tao players is the 66 8/9 j.d~a
KM Riku Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I came back after a while, my PC got a problem and I only could visit the forum using a PC in my school. And I kinda agree with Domethieus, the loop is very easy to get into and it doesn't need a video just for it. I think it would be better to do a video that contains general strategy, most used blockstrings, mix/cross-ups, mindgames, TRM setups and etc. This is something that I think the Tao forum is lacking a bit. ps: I'll update the video thread this weekend, sorry for taking so much time.
Mystic d Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Any Tao mains going to EVO? Attempting to go. I'm from Hawaii so I'm trying to scrap together some monies
LuminAbyss Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Since this thread needs more posts Do you all enjoy food as much as your character does? This is a completely serious question.
