Eshi Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Success! Paul made a meme, which I inevitably helped make with my Phoenix shenanigans prior to the OCV. Therefore, I have helped create a meme *scratches off list of things to do*. Congratulations. By the way, can I come over and play MvC3 after 3 today? I have to show up to the gathering late and I need to practice so fucking badly, I've been brainstorming a lot of ideas and will explode if I can't try them out.

Therefore, I have helped create a meme *scratches off list of things to do*. Is that at meme level now? That's pretty amazing, gratz! Also, friends aren't coming; I'll me down there tonight. Need some SSF4 before next weekend despite MvC3 being awesome.
TheGreatReptar Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) I would say yes, since I'm done with classes then, but I've got CS work to do before tonight. You're welcome to come over, you just might not have a sparring partner for a while. You're a CS major though, aren't you Chris? You should help me, even though it's Matlab. Oh also, I've only got the game on the Triple, and John's out of town for the weekend, so I've only got one stick =P Edited February 18, 2011 by TheGreatReptar
FunkyP Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I'll come over to Andrew's Chris and we can practice while he works LOL
Eshi Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Andrew, if you could pick up your phone then I could get your exact location and come over. I wouldn't mind helping nor doing training mode alone (that's what I wanted), but I need to hear from you either by phone or internets.
TheGreatReptar Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 I'm in North Avenue. My phone's on now, so feel free to come over whenever. I promise I'll pick up now =P
Eshi Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I'm in North Avenue. My phone's on now, so feel free to come over whenever. I promise I'll pick up now =Pwill I be able to park there, or are permits required or something?
TheGreatReptar Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 Right outside North Avenue turnaround, along the main road is free public parking, although that usually gets filled fast. There's also metered parking within the turnaround.

There's also metered parking within the turnaround. You can park on centennial apartment streets too. Merrits is normally a good place to park
CrushrDestroyr Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) Well since Chris isn't showing up til later, I'll need someone else with a car to come over to center street apartments and help me bring my setup to Klaus. If any of you can, let me know. Edited February 18, 2011 by CrushrDestroyr
FunkyP Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 You know that Xfactor X23 loop? I found a better one for Dark Phoenix http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfWZx95no1c
Jewdo Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 WTF. Also, those MvC3 cover 'shops are awesome. I found 2 things today. First, Sentinel's (Rocket Punch > Hyper Sentinel Force) x N loop from MvC2 still applies. Start with L-punch, then switch to M-punch for the last transition. Damage for 5 reps is OVER NINE (hundred) THOUSAND. Good news is it only works in corner, and Sent must be half-screen or closer. Did some work on Arthur's Goddess Bracelet loop too. Works if Arthur is half-screen or farther, opponent does not need to be cornered. Timing is awkward - even though you can buffer the 214 motion during the last few hits, you need to time the 2x button press to coincide with the dissolution of the super-freeze background, not the hit# counter. Also gets harder to do as the hits pile up, according to stun scaling formula that has yet to be nailed down. Successful (214 AA) x 5 deals 985,000 damage. Learning a lot more about Doom and Iron Man, really loving my team. Deadpool's a pain in the ass to approach. Looking forward to fighting Paul's famous Phoenix.

Sent's third on my team after deadpool has burned all the meter i build with mags though...
Daysoo Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 (edited) I love Magneto. Tonight's combo experiment results: Starts nicely with tridash j.L. Requires OTG assist. (Wesker in this case) Positioning: Starts anywhere. Carries to corner from anywhere. "Ends" with heavy hyper grav, so you can finish a number of ways: + 5H xx 214S = 471,500 damage. Reset into flight mode. Grants roughly 1.90 meter. + 5H xx 236H = 515,700 damage. Grants exactly 2 meter and does the most damage without any cost. Sets up ideal situation for "unblockable" with Wesker. My preference. + Magnetic tempest = 669,200 damage, leaves you with about 90% of that second bar built. DHC into Deadpool does SLIGHTLY less damage than ending in gravity squeeze would at roughly 875,000. + Gravity Squeeze = 893,900 damage. For when you think that tiny bit of extra damage is what you need. Edited February 21, 2011 by Daysoo
Jewdo Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 (edited) Iron Man fly/OTG combo variants, for anyone curious: (midscreen): 2.B, 5D, jump (wait), j.B, j.C, fly, j.B, j.C, j.2C, j.D, land, dash-in, smart bomb, super. (corner): (j.B), 2.B, 5C, 5D, jump (wait), j.B, j.C, j.8C, fly, j.B, j.C, j.2C, j.D, land, smart bomb, super. Both deal a little over 600K I think. I'm sure I'll find better ones soon. For Doom I just use the Buktooth combo from Trag's videos. Nothing new there. Wolverine is just amazing. Two combos I "found" (apparently everyone else found them too): 1) [ground string], 5D, j.2C, 5B, 5C, j.B, j.B, j.C, air super. Too easy, half-bar of damage for minimum effort. 2) (corner) 5C, 2C, 5D, j.Drill forward, j.Drill down-forward, j.2C, land, 5C, 2C, 5D, j.B, j.C, air super. J.Wong used something similar looking mid-screen in the Level-Up tournament video If you follow a Normal+Assist press with Berserker Slash, you can also combo from the Slash. There's no damage advantage to this technique yet, I just think it looks cool. Need more lab time with Magneto, I want to try the combo Marn used in the Level-up video. Didn't analyze its damage or anything, but it looks sexy. @Daysoo: Grats on the nice combo, curious what's in it. I'll post here if I find anything of my own of course. [edit]: The best I can manage with Magneto (no assist, no meter) is: (corner) 5D, wait, j.C, ADF (airdash-forward), j.C, fly, j.C, unfly, j.C, land, 5D, j.C, ADF, j.C, fly, ABCD. It does 470,000 and only builds 1 meter. [double-edit]: My AIM is the same as my PSN. I'm rarely on it, but I'm not opposed to logging on if anyone wants to talk. [triple-edit]: (corner): 5D, [j.C, airdash-down , 5C, wait, 5D]x2, j.C, airdash-forward, j.C, fly, f.ABCD. 501,800 damage, still only builds about 1 meter, does 901,800 if you add Gravity Squeeze. Bed for real now. I'll work on adding OTG-assist sorcery when I wake up. Edited February 20, 2011 by Jewdo
Daysoo Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 (edited) @Jewdo: I'm still working on the combo, using two OTG assists to make it easier, but I'm tweaking it to only require one. Planning to unwind with some Randomizer TF2 right now. :V I'd like to experiment with Deadpool's quick as the wind assist, but I'm probably going to stick with trigger happy in the long run. (up guns) Hopefully I'll have this combo done and polished by tomorrow evening. You got AIM or something btw? Edited February 20, 2011 by Daysoo

It's a pretty good way to get a VERY tricky cross up depending on the assist you use, also you should try canceling it to Beserker Charge xx Beserker barrage. You can follow that up with a standard air combo if you mash the hard version of beserker barrage. The only problem is the Beserker charge not lasting long enough to let you combo after the beserker barrage. I'll probably test it out damage wise tomorrow morning sometime.
TheSlyMoogle Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Shit paul, you're like internet famous now. I see that Dark Phoenix OCV vid posted fucking everywhere.
Jewdo Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 (edited) @Deadguy: Some GG stuff I've been working on. Criticism welcome: Eddie double-unblockable rush (with shadow): [D], IAD (hold 6), j.S , j.H , land, *]D[, K(hold 6 after K), , [2D], *H-puddle, j.S. Unblockable sections marked with *. I like this; it also sets up Damned Fang if ]D[ releases early or puddle is replaced with another shadow move. If shadow runs out and he's still blocking after 2D, drill will also end the string safely. Venom high-damage corner combo: TK j.236D, walk forward, 6P, 6H, H-ball, 6P, 6H, 623K, wait, j.H, j.D, land, j.S, j.H. (200dmg + oki, guard bar neutral, uses 25% tension). Works with throw, but throw prorates it to 129dmg. @Everyone: Anybody mind if I crash at your place for Final Round? I'll provide car transportation to the tournament in exchange, also possibly food. If nobody has room, I'll book a hotel, so I need to know soon. Thanks in advance. Edited February 20, 2011 by Jewdo

I dont' have much AC experience with doing combos with those 2 characters but about the venom option.
Jewdo Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Depending on when the last 6H hits, they'll either get an air tech (early timing) or floor knockdown. If they air-tech, Venom's on the way down, so I suppose he can air-throw or j.D, but I haven't tested that yet. Didn't think about that, haven't played Eddie against a human since November. -_- It's possible to stuff back-jump with ]S[, and I guess backdash with ]K[, but that affects shadow gauge and the string changes completely. I have to explore transitions into escape-crushes now, thanks for the heads-up.

Yeah, the dumb thing is that I could tell you the best thing to do... if we were still playing GGXX When are we gonna get some games in? =D
Jewdo Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 A friend w/transportation wants to go to Revival this weekend, I'll bring my PS2+TV. I'm crossing my fingers hard that he doesn't change his mind. I miss ATL crew. Not having a car sucks.
