DogsofWar Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Just wondering if anyone knows how tight the input window for commands in this game. Is it more like AH, BB, or (god forbid) KOFXIII. I have a feeling that not to many people are importing it so most of my online matches will be against JP players. Worst case scenario (lag + super tight timing), play it locally until my friends go back to P4A. Also not as important: I just noticed a cheaper version of the game on PlayAsia recently: The (Japanese version) is 74.90 USD and the (Regular Edition) for 82.90 USD. I already paid upfront for the RE awhile ago but if anyone knows if there's a difference between the two it'd be greatly appreciated.
SolxBaiken Posted August 22, 2012 Author Posted August 22, 2012 I can't tell you exactly how the window feels (as sadly I haven't played it...yet >:3) but it should be rather lenient, I'm expecting AH tier as it's the same dev and the windows for AH and DB aren't that bad. As far as the "Japanese version" thing goes, lol even after all these years people still ask this question, that is merely the version that is sold in Asian markets outside of Japan when an official region version isn't made, it's 100% identical to the one anyone else would import from Japan (though sometimes if you're lucky you get English inserts!). So if you want to save money, go ahead and pick it up. Obviously I'll be importing this day one.
DogsofWar Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 I probably should've asked the "version" question a month ago when i paid upfront. I assumed i was gonna get some trinkets with the more expensive version. I figured it would be similar to AH. But the last time i was this excited about a game was KOF13, and they broke my heart, so im afraid to fall in love again. Hopefully examu wont disappoint ^_^
Chumaralupa Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Does anyone know if this game will be available on the Japanese PSN store? I'd rather not wait for import shipping......
SolxBaiken Posted August 24, 2012 Author Posted August 24, 2012 Surprisingly Japan is not as big on the whole making available for download as America is, there are currently no plans for s PSN release and probably won't be. I can't speak for other importers but AmiAmi is pretty fast :3
DogsofWar Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 (edited) Does anyone know if this game will be available on the Japanese PSN store? I'd rather not wait for import shipping...... The shipping over at PlayAsia told me 5-11 days . I've gotten other stuff from Japan come in about 7-9 days which is pretty impressive since im on the opposite side of the world. Yeah the wait sucks, but i have a feeling that this'll be one of those "Buy it now, or Never find it again" kinda games. If you have a problem waiting for a game to come out, don't preorder Phantom Breaker. Also here's a little hype with that post: http://shoryuken.com/2012/08/24/aquapazza-chizuru-multi-assist-combo-video/ Edited August 24, 2012 by DogsofWar
Kurushii Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 I order everything through PlayAsia with FedEx shipping. I get it same day or the day after JP release.
SolxBaiken Posted August 25, 2012 Author Posted August 25, 2012 Yeah AmiAmi has great and timely shipping too, I can't wait to crush you, my mortal nemesis~
Keo-bas Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 ok very late into this but what be the quickest and some what guarantee route to get this game at this point? I was initially going to get the arcade stick bundle ups shipping but their out of it. I don't care for any bonus or swag item. I just want this game ASAP.
SolxBaiken Posted August 25, 2012 Author Posted August 25, 2012 PlayAsia (luckily they seem to still be taking orders on the Asian ver) or YesAsia AmiAmi is sold out of every version (lol) and I wanted to get the RAP stick but that sold out within a matter of HOURS...months ago :< but yeah why did you wait so long to place your pre-order, you might end up waiting even if you order now.
Keo-bas Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Living paycheck by paycheck,( im idiot) Sent from my SCH-R720 using Tapatalk 2
SolxBaiken Posted August 25, 2012 Author Posted August 25, 2012 They can't charge you before shipping~ If it ever looks grim just cancel :o Hopefully you can get your hands on it, I need more people to play~
TheTZA Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Hi, Been lurking this site for a few months now and decided to sign up now that AP is coming out n_n --- I just pre ordered the Asian ver on PlayAsia. Hopefully it gets here within a few days of release? Anyone from NorCal that will be playing this?
DogsofWar Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 No i'll be playing it from north jersey, but my connection is fast. Also im the only one of my friends that's getting this so we'll be playing online from my account. So playing us, you'll see a variety of characters and styles. To give you an example in SCV we play Natsu, Sigfreid, Astaroth, and Tira. BB is Ragna, Hakumen, Tager. Guilty Gear is Sol, May, Potemkin, Dizzy, and Testament. If you want i'll send you my PSN Id. I'll be using my JP Id in case there's DLC for this game.
SolxBaiken Posted August 25, 2012 Author Posted August 25, 2012 Texas over here, and I want to be the American AP God~ (just kidding, but I do like everyone so I'll actually attempt to be decent with everyone, my primary main will probably either Touka or Sasara) Also even if there is DLC for this game, you don't have to use your JPN account to play, since anything purchased on a PS3 can be charged among the accounts on the same system \o/
DogsofWar Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 First time importing a video game...didnt know that. Made an account just for this game with a super original JP-PSN id too (ragnadubloodedge)...damn. Im gonna main Oboro and probably sub Konomi or Tamaki. I assume my friends gonna main Hakuro or Touka. As far as assists im gonna go with one that can either help me rush in or extend combos. Also me and my friends usually play online with a quarter liter of vodka in us, but that only makes us play better. You've been warned.
SolxBaiken Posted August 26, 2012 Author Posted August 26, 2012 All the Partners are good for something, and it's probably good to have a small pool to help with weaknesses in matchups, but the Assist tier IMO is: S: Ma-Ryan A: Yu, Satsuki B: Mizuki, Octavia, Camyu, Ulthury C: Rathy, Yuma, Yuki, Rina Of course that's for general purpose and depending on the character that could shift drastically, and can't list Llyr and Serika yet due to them being newer and I haven't seen much footage on them, but they have their own interesting tools. Ma-Ryan works with everyone (and I mean EVERYONE), can't give any suggestions to Oboro cause again too new, but Tamaki does super well with Ulthury because her lightning attack locks down opponent, you pretty much are given 2 options - guard or get grabbed. Camyu is also nice for her due to the fireball attacks being great for combo extension and the dark orb pretty much preventing people from jumping (not to mention you can throw them into it, lol). Konomi can benefit from Satsuki because she forces situations on opponents as well (projectiles are universally High in this game, so they can be ducked, but unless you have a slide you are now stuck in place, so this works well for Konomi as now you have to guess her mixup). Serika might be good because she has the bind assist, but again haven't seen her too much but she's definitely one of the Partners I wanted to try first because I love that and her mirror move assist.
DogsofWar Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 (edited) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jumlTFuTjcI&feature=relmfu This video is the only time ive seen Oboro footage that was worth looking at. The gun chick seems to be good for rushing in and making moves safer. but i can see the chick with the uppercut and drop kick being very versatile. The Drop kick can be used to advance, and the uppercut can extend combos. Also yeah...Serikas mirror move assist looks promising. Edited August 26, 2012 by DogsofWar
SolxBaiken Posted August 26, 2012 Author Posted August 26, 2012 The "gun chick" is Satsuki, and there's a reason I placed her high up on my list, as I mentioned earlier projectiles are universally high and BOTH of Satsuki's attacks are projectiles, the single shot is just good for poking but the 3x burst is good for locking down/hit confirming/spacing, overall Satsuki works well for any character (she's just not as godly as Ma-Ryan, lol). The other girl you are referring to is Mizuki, drop kick actually isn't all that great, you'll be using her upper alot more but you have to be careful with your timing, especially since she launchers higher on counter hit (IIRC) but you'll probably use it as a combo start more times than an extender (since it's a safer way in than you yourself poking and it can be great as a Passive Assist Call --where you spend meter to call your Partner during your block stun)
DogsofWar Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Camyu is one i'll save for local play after me and my friends get familiar with the game. Like you said she can keep people grounded or cause them to take extra damage with low emotions. Also her fireball seems to have some good uses. once your friends know how you play, she seems like the go to assist as far as controlling the match. Keeping people grounded is always a good thing. Theres too many options though. Since we dont have the game there are so many other possibilities that we dont know about.
SolxBaiken Posted August 26, 2012 Author Posted August 26, 2012 Be careful what you wish for, a character like Karula doesn't care too much for the sky and has a ground dodge with a follow up that can be comboed, not to mention she has long range. Sasara is in a similar boat but she has rush move with guard points. And nah if you want to control a match the go-to Partner is Ma-Ryan, lol, fireworks! FIREWORKS EVERYWHERE!!! Also Yu is another dangerous Partner, she's a walking DP, and her other move is great for lockdown and causes amnesia on the opponent! Yuki is okish because she allows you to do otherwise impossible combos and does fill the screen with slow falling projectiles, but the downside is massive cooldown sequence :<
TheTZA Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 I havent checked out all assists but Im definitely maining Arawn, and Camyu seems to have great synergy with him.
SolxBaiken Posted August 26, 2012 Author Posted August 26, 2012 Arawn is a great character because he does good damage, has a nice DP, command grab, and dozens of attacks that affect the opponent's meter, oh and add on top his special ability enhances the power of his Partner. Mizuki or Ulthury are great choices because they make his DP much safer, Camyu is a nice choice too for extended combos, Satsuki is great for lock down and allowing Arawn to advance safely, and of course Ma-Ryan goes with everyone~
Julimano Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Anyone know if there is any footage from the saturday event? I´m a little worried about the port quality, I hope it will be more like AH3 port than AH2 horrible port
SolxBaiken Posted August 26, 2012 Author Posted August 26, 2012 Event? The only thing planned that I'm aware of is on launch day, do you have any details on said event? Also it's worth noting that Examu doesn't port their own games (ever) so the terrible port of 2 was due to Eccole's (IIRC) choices, the port of 3 was handled by Arc System Works and had the benefit of a more powerful system(s). Aquaplus (the ones who own the franchises) is handling the port of this game, they (well their subsidiary---Leaf) have only released one game in the fighting genre before this but they have handled PS3 ports for several of their titles. Not to mention the game has been delayed twice (once to fix a network error) so I'm confident they'll do a good job.
