I find it hard to believe that a character who can lock you down all day is low tier.

He was considered low because no one had figured him out yet by that time, at least for what it was UNI 1.0

by now is quite obvious for everyone who has been keeping an eye on the game and how it develops that he is not as hopeless as he seemed at the beginning.

That's pretty much why I was never convinced he was low tier.

Also question about Merkava. Is he a bad character or are the people who are using him bad? He rarely shows up and hardly wins any matches now-a-days.

The nerf to Chain Shift making it so he couldn't just loop 2C > 5C > 4B for 9k damage off of anything probably just made him less appealing to learn. I don't think he's bad, there are just more straight forward characters that get the job done without getting used to his weird moveset.

To be fair, from what I've seen, Dustloop does this every single time when theoryfighting about a character when a game first comes out. I'd like to think that that's why Week 1 discussion of character tiers is slightly looked down upon.

I thought that we were talking about what the japanese players thought by that time, i couldn't care less about the opinion of what random people on DL/SRK/HC, etc would think about a game that they have not played yet.

And even then, like you said any talk about "tiers" on the early lifetime of a game is kinda dumb, but at the same time, if done intelligently it can be fun and constructive (sadly, is not usually the case :/ )

You guys take "tier" discussion way too seriously...

There's nothing wrong with talking about your impressions on a game/character/systems starting on day 1, so long as that isn't what you live and breath on throughout the entire life cycle. The meta of a fighting game will constantly evolve and change for a good while, it's what makes them so interesting, but you guys get this persnickety attitude about it.

We should be cross referencing all statements, seeing which have grounds to stand and which are actually baseless, rather than cutting certain ones down because of their origin. People of a lower skill caliber or understanding can even learn a thing or two from what you say rather than just "lol you're dumb".

Can't read this but... some guy was asking for info on the new characters? Looks like they'll possibly drop a reveal sometime pretty soon, but is this true?

People probably haven't heard about this, but during the Barracuda Tournament, French Bread actually showed visual designs of two characters, Wagner and Adelheit, who appeared only in name at the story. This guy was asking if they would show those pictures on the game's official site. In-Birth's official Twitter answered something like "We'll see if that could be made possible..."

Yeah... Game starts to be dead, but soon we'll start counting day until the release of soundtrack... It's exactly three weeks from today...

AND WHERE'S MY ELTNUM STORY! It's the only one left, why can't I get to sub it...
