Star-Demon Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I am going to cover those videos tomorrow night - hopefully twiitch chat doesn't stop me again.
caiooa Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Carmine pressure is ridiculous seriously. It looks like you can't do anything except guessing a reversal somewhere. That's retarded. while i agree that he can do things in the oki to make the opponnet stay blocking in the wakeup, you aren't seeing the resets points in his blockstrings. But even if they don't exist, you know what shield do in this game, right? https://twitter.com/XiePlus/status/384122886492921856 https://twitter.com/XiePlus/status/384123198221991936 https://twitter.com/XiePlus/status/384123825937334272 https://twitter.com/XiePlus/status/384124632166440961 plus, even if carmine blockstrings don't have reset points and the game don't have shield, you know that ex late added a "alpha counter" like attack, right?
RurouniLoneWolf Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Thanks for those tweets from Xie. I had no idea that the Shield could be used in neutral for no meter or that it reduces block stun. That'll be pretty useful.
JetKinen Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 So i read somewhere that a character theme named "The Legend of the Skull Heart" was leaked? Is this information right?
Solless Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 So i read somewhere that a character theme named "The Legend of the Skull Heart" was leaked? Is this information right? Uh....isn't that Skullgirls?
Betto Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 It was a just a joke about how guest characters have themes based on their respective games' openings Considering FB wants to put a Skullgirls character in, well... Yeah.
Betto Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Pardon the double post. Akatsuki will be fully playable October 22nd. https://twitter.com/inbirthPR/statuses/391055860463460352 Can't wait for his arcade story and Reflector shenanigans.
Starlight777 Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Calling it now, Akatsuki will see more use than poor Chaos. Reflector is basically a parry right?
caiooa Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Calling it now, Akatsuki will see more use than poor Chaos. Reflector is basically a parry right? In akatsuki blitzkampf at least, no. It's closer to H-moon shield of mbaa http://wiki.mizuumi.net/w/Akatsuki_Blitzkampf/Reflector https://twitter.com/XiePlus/status/391158134921641984 https://twitter.com/XiePlus/status/391158403508084736 new videos are showing up in nico, and they are at 60fps. The first 2 videos are just of a orie vs a carmine, in the others we see more players variety. Abelcru twitted earlier about them, so i believe he's going to reupload them later (but youtube don't support 60fps videos) http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm22071763 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm22072048 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm22072680 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm22072716 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm22072748
Jocelot Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Who knows, maybe Chaos'll take a while to find the uh, "right stuff". I remember thinking Carmine could never catch a break when the game first came out, now he seems SUPER solid when people figured him out. Still can't wait to see Akatsuki drop, though.
MikuruX Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Okay, I've posted this on SRK as well and I was told to post this here as well to get more feedback. I've been in talks with Seon King at Nyu-Media about trying to get the rights to Gleam of Force, one of French-Bread's doujin titles. Somehow, this brought us to talks about UNIBEXE:Late and he would be interested in working with French-Bread in trying to set something up for the title (at least on PC). Now keep in mind, these are only talks that we've had so this doesn't confirm anything is going on as we just started talking about this recently this past week. Any way, it's pretty much a simple question but what do you all think about the idea of Nyu-Media actually trying to secure the rights for UNIBEXE:Late? Would you buy it if they released it? Do you think it's a good idea? I simply want your thoughts on this and yes, I have permission from Seon King to ask this so this is an official question.
Putin Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 If it's got decent netplay and the price is right, then of course I'm interested. They really need to understand the gravity of netplay though, since it's the only place for a lot of people to actually play fighting games. If the netcode's not good enough for me to be able to play the people I play other fgs with, then I'm definitely saving my money for something else. This happened with console KOF13 unfortunately

floatwater Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 tell them to just fucking use GGPO my god.
Akujikan Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Personally, I'd buy it. Melty is one of the fighters I have the absolute most fun playing (even when I'm just clobbering its silly AI), so I've had my eye on UNiB since it was first announced. As for whether or not its a good idea, its hard to say. Its certainly a less well known company, and a new IP, so its hard to say how well it would be received on a whole. As for netcode topic, GGPO would be great, but I know that it requires your game to support save-states, and I don't know if UNiB already does/if its in the card to add support for something like that. Then of course there's additional licensing to consider... At the end of the day, I'm pro the idea, but for mostly selfish reasons, haha.

I'm not too kind to the idea of playing games on my computer, but I would still buy it if a console version wasn't possible. It's not a bad idea I would say, but the potential to sell a lot of copies of this game might be really low.
Tachyons Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 I'm down with any port as long as it's not bundled into a limited edition anime boxset. Tournament presence will be better if there's decent netplay and a console version. http://www.nicovideo.jp/mylist/38971596 awesome video quality and level of play
heavymetalmixer Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 A PC version with a good netplay is a must be. I haven't seen a better netcode than GGPO, so it's a start point, don't you think?
Martian Buddy Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 UNIB being a PC would probably be both a good and bad thing. Good in that there's a better shot of there being good netcode from the start, bad in that if it's a PC only game it's spread would be extremely limited. Personally I'd love for the game to get a console release, but if it's only on PC I'd have to deal. (I may be biased due to the fact my PC is a giant piece of shit. Thing can barely run Skullgirls on lowest settings.)
TAI-X Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 (edited) If PC ends up being the only feasible way for the game to make it out of arcades then I'll take it, but I'd much prefer a PS3 port with a physical release. It would likely sell much better in Japan, where PC gaming is very niche, anyway. French-Bread must also be aware of how relentlessly Melty has been pirated on PC outside of Japan. Also, GGPO isn't an instantaneous, magic solution to netcode problems. Like anything else, its rollback system needs to be implemented well, taking into account the unique mechanics of each game. Look at SFIII:3S Online for an example of a poor implementation of GGPO. Additionally, Sega's netcode for VF5:FS remains the best I've ever used, and it's not GGPO. Edited October 20, 2013 by TAI-X
Zouf Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 I'll buy it on any support i don't care. I thought a PS3 version was already on the go? I've seen a stream with the game running on the PS3

Zouf Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Well they are working on it at least, i doubt they'd have a playable build if it wasn't already advanced in the development
tataki Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 I made a vid with links to harass them about it:
TAI-X Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 I don't think we should push for a PC version until we get some hard confirmation of a PS3 port. It's simply not an ideal home for the game outside arcades. Most of the fighting game playerbase is on consoles, fighters get more publicity on consoles, they're much easier to use for tourneys, and piracy rates are far lower.
