kirbster Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 (edited) Actually fear has nothing to do it, it's just that nobody knows how to fight Tager lol. It's simple : DON'T TAKE RISKS. Don't attack him for nothing, don't put yourself in a situation where you can get touched. Everytime I see someone do dash 2a against Brice I facepalm hard. But then again Brice is fucking strong so if you don't play perfect you lose anyway EDIT : oh and if he manages to get his hands on you, it doesn't matter if you're a noob or if you're fucking Souji, you have a reason to be scared! Tager is OP when he has you. Also, I don't see how Heartless is more gimmicky than Brice... Every mixup Tager does is a gimmick lol. Edited March 13, 2013 by kirbster
DerQ Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Actually fear has nothing to do it, it's just that nobody knows how to fight Tager lol. It's simple : DONT TAKE RISKS. Dont attack him for nothing, don't put yourself in a situation where you can get touched. Everytime I see someone do dash 2a against Brice I facepalm hard. But then again Brice is fucking strong so if you don't play perfect you lose anyway Fear still matters in the initial learning curve though. It's harder to reduce the risk when you have little to no idea how the specific grappler works. I don't pay attention to spark's bolt meter, I don't know what to do when magnetized, and I certainly can't upback all round long to reduce the risk because it's the only thing I know and I'm scared because of all this.
Heartless Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Also, I don't see how Heartless is more gimmicky than Brice... Every mixup Tager does is a gimmick lol. To be honest, I've stopped doing my weird gimmicks since everyone knows about them now. D: I just bring out my gimmick bible when fresh blood is present. I look forward to the future 1 on 1 with you DerQ. :bad:
GreeniX Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 DerQ I am telling you this for your own good. If it looks like he fucked up his combo and you can just tech and hit him, DON'T DO IT IT'S A TRAP GET AWAY.
Sophisticat Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I feel Brice is a lot more RTSD than Heartless. More proactive, works harder for his wins. Heartless is more chill. He knows he'll get you eventually with a random gimmick. I'll be there later today. Gotta get in some GG with Heartless and maybe try VS.
pochp Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Can't wait to try VS tomorrow... "Day 1" tournament? "Day 1" tournament. (I say day 1 because I'm assuming most players will have extremely limited, if any, experience or knowledge of the game) In other news... I was thinking about these tager player and comparing them in my head, figured I might as well post it. Hopefully this isn't a bad idea. Brice is like an anaconda. He just slowly strangles you and once he gets you you're dead. He knows what you should be doing, he'll see the flaws, and he'll take every millimeter he can, without doing very many obvious mistakes on his side. (Disclaimer : if you fuck up big time, it's not actually going to be slow. I mean, like if you play it more or less correctly, patiently, and take minimal risks, eventually you feel strangled and are bound to break) I would say, his weakness is that because he only plays against very few people, there's a lot he doesn't know about or has experienced, he just makes up for it by learning way too fast. It sometimes feel impossible to out-endure him, and going for something unexpected may be a good idea, but he adapts so fast that you can't rely on that exclusively to win. Regardless, don't worry, sometimes he breaks, sometimes faster than other times, everyone is human after all, just keep playing solid. Heartless's approach feels more like risk reward gets thrown out the window and goes for a lot of hard reads, and he's generally really good at them. The comparison with the gimmicks, is that brice will usually end his combos with a oki situation in which he knows what your options are, how to punish them, and which one you are going to go for. Heartless on the other hand prefers to end them in situations you aren't expecting, and takes advantage of your confusion. And he knows a lot of these, so it's not like you can rely on your knowledge to always make it out. Now this is good in some aspects, because if you aren't as comfortable with your character, or want to take minimal risks, you'll sometimes get scared out of taking the right decisions. However, it also comes with the weakness of missing some openings or not taking advantage of a situation in the best way. And might as well... Brian feels more "by the book". A good balance of knowledge, experience, hard reads, risk reward, but still very scary and hard to read or break. Unlike the other two, he'll use gadget slinger, probably because it's the most effective mixup. Your chances of guessing right on it are really bad. Like, I think brice knows how to do it, but he prefers using his meter for setups that will beat multiple options or option selects. I'd say, Brian plays the matchup. Brice plays you. Heartless makes you play his game. Though... it really should be "tries to" because sometimes, tager can't (: This is a late night post. Some of it might not make sense. Neither does tager. My character also lets me get away with things, so I might be wrong on certain details, but yeah, this is pretty much what I was thinking about.
AirMaster Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Bringing my PS3 with me. We should be able to play VS for those interested. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 2
GreeniX Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I would say, [brice's] weakness is that because he only plays against very few people, there's a lot he doesn't know about or has experienced, he just makes up for it by learning way too fast. Let me tell you about having a chance at all against him with my scrub Noel because he can't block 6b, ever. We clearly haven't played enough yet.
LiveWireX Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Let me tell you about having a chance at all against him with my scrub Noel because he can't block 6b, ever. We clearly haven't played enough yet. I don't mean to jump in, but let me just say as a Noel, and after having Heartless' Tager slam me down time and time again, I would NEVER even think to 6B against a Tager because "oh shi-*grabbed*".
DerQ Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I don't mean to jump in, but let me just say as a Noel, and after having Heartless' Tager slam me down time and time again, I would NEVER even think to 6B against a Tager because "oh shi-*grabbed*". Yeah but I've only been with these guys since last August and I've never seen a Noel player until a tad before WB with Greenix picking her up. Even there, he can't afford to come to meetups as much as the rest of the guys. There was no Noel in mtl. I've heard mythical legends about players who turned to the NAH status or stuff like that BEFORE I joined. So that's that, we didn't have Noel XP that much.
Heartless Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I fought the Noel Army online. That's where I get most of my EXP from match ups I don't know about.
kirbster Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Foonzo won't be open till 6... But wait till you see the new stuff. Omg
pochp Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 So hype right now, better not disappoint heading out, I'll be there soon.
Lythium Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Halifax tournament, come take our fight monies~ http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?15936-May-25-26-High-Tide-Throwdown-2013-Halifax-NS-Canada&p=1475769#post1475769
LiveWireX Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Oh, cool. Good to hear it. Whenever I hear about a maritimes tourney I always wonder if anybody in newfie-land plays BB or P4A at all since I never seem to hear about it.
Lythium Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 There's a couple Newfies that play P4A. One of them placed second at our last major.
LiveWireX Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 There's a couple Newfies that play P4A. One of them placed second at our last major. Really? Huh, well I'll be.
GreeniX Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I don't mean to jump in, but let me just say as a Noel, and after having Heartless' Tager slam me down time and time again, I would NEVER even think to 6B against a Tager because "oh shi-*grabbed*". My point exactly, I'm getting away with dumb shit. Thus justifying my existence as the guy who does it over and over again until everyone here figures it out too. At least I hope that's how it works.
DerQ Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Man I am so down to go to Halifax, how far is it from MTL? *looks up GMAP* Alright how much are the plane tickets? *Looks up very quickly* Fucking A, why does it cost 300 to 400 for a non international flight... *Looks up the train* Quote on quote affordable, but the schedule is beyond horrible. 24 hours in the train for one go? HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE WHEN IT TAKES 12 HOURS TO RIDE. Man I really want to go to as many places as I can especially if it's in Canada... but holy christ does it take either time or money for these...
Lythium Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I know that feel, man. I really want to go to UMAD this year, but I'm having the same problem. It's not even like it's that far. ;-;
Bibiquadium Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Its 1200$ to go to BC by plane, going to Vegas costs me less. Traveling within Canada is dumb as fu...
