She can be a pure maiden all she wants, she still made horrible choices and broke like a twig. I will also confirm my Foonzo presence tomorrow.

Brice Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Madoka too high, Sayaka too low. let's talk about it shall we. madoka spoilers you have been warned! in the alpha timeline madoka is the shit helping others self confident and stuff even a gdlk Mahou shoujo since she could beat the walpurgis by herself at the cost of her life while homura da bess couldn't do it after all those grinding session she had with the best power of the 5 main girls (clearly) then stuff happens and what does sayaka ever do to help her friends? nothing. she said over and over again to use her mahou shoujo powers for others when she clearly did it for herself ONLY, and like Dai loli said she broke like a twig (cue me being mean as fuck saying this sorry but it's the truth) BECAUSE SHE WAS WEAK. whatever the timeline she was the party pooper. Elle est un boulet. :P while madoka made the smartest decision with her wish you could think of that would not sound clunky/cheap madoka da bess sayaka needed to be patted on the head even thouh she was being a tough dude. Lythium Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I can get behind this, but spoilers: while I agree that Madoka ultimately made the smartest decision with her wish, it was only after she was privy to the previous histories that everyone else had already encountered. And while Madoka is ultimately the most powerful, it is through Homura's repeated time looping that she becomes this way. In that sense, Madoka is overrated. Arguably, Sayaka and Kyoko are both too low, they made unselfish wishes (like Madoka). However, because their power wasn't great enough, which is also beyond their control, they couldn't help but be overwhelmed. Also, with the exception of Homura, Sayaka has the most heartbreaking story arc, at least in my opinion. She put everything on the line for someone else, but she never acted on her feelings. Mami is also overrated, because she was too cool. Lost it all once she got friends, literally./weeaboorant

My ranking was more based around how much they made me care for the girls, over the potency of their wishes, I guess. - Madoka gets 1st because I wanted to protect her D: Also pink hair. - Then Homura for the sheer strength of her resolve - Mami because really, she didn't have a choice to become a Puella and dealt with it like a boss. Minus points for freaking the fuck out when she figures the plot out . - Kyouko is kinda all attitude with little substance. I didn't believe in her and Sayaka's sudden and very deep friendship at all. - Sayaka gets last for the aforementioned reasons. Her wish might have not been selfish, but why in the hell did she not take that opportunity to reveal her feelings to the guy? She was just asking for trouble by staying silent. /2yearslateweeaboorant
DerQ Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Here we go! Sayaka was a necessary element for everything to happen in the story. In the first timeline, she wasn't involved in any way. But as Kyubey's interest for Madoka reached higher levels, she met him and all that shit happened. Let's see could potentially have been avoided if Sayaka never became a mahou shoujo: -Only 4 Mahou Shoujo would have been existant had Homura been successful. In the first timeline in which Sayaka becomes a witch, Mami goes nuts and kills Kyouko only to be killed by Madoka right after. This could be the main cause for Homura's cold attitude in the main timeline since she had to kill and see her friends get killed. -Kyouko's action and attitude change is related to her interaction with Sayaka, though that's fairly minor IMO -Madoka being driven not to become a mahou shoujo in the main timeline and watching Sayaka die made her feel so powerless and ponder everything about Magical girls. Had it not been for that, maybe Kyubey wouldn't even have bothered to explain the history of incubators and the human race. In the end, I think Sayaka's one of the most important factors (in this timeline the least) to bring Madoka to making her wish. She plays the role of the fool (because she is) who tragically puts into perspective for both the whole cast and the viewer what the fate of a mahou shoujo is. An impulsive decision that leads to one's self corruption and twisting of it's soul. To further prove this, she even fullfills that role again in the last episode to put into perspective what exactly Madoka's wish changed for the mahou shoujos and how they lose sight of their initial wish. It also showcases just how BASED Madoka became. Oh and one more little details, I get that you enjoy smart characters, but I wouldn't expect for a 14 yrs old right in the middle of her puberty to be smart and matured... That's kind of the point.

Plus I'd hang out with her, she seems cool. Also, reminder, Guilty gear tournament tomorrow.
