TagerTime Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Well only the first location test has passed and i already got some things from or similar to what i wanted on my wishlist. More useful gatlings, that by default gives us higher damage combos, Stronger super armor on 6A, voltic charge charges spark faster, voltic charge cancels into a special attack, changed B-sledge, able to otg collider all chars easily from 360A. Hopefully there is at least 4 more location test to go to get alot more of the stuff that i want.
the_difinitive Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 so i was thinking, would tager become balanced if they made all timeouts automatically a win for tager? if it did they could even add a story element in to explain it, like if you timeout a match then kokonoe will have had enough time to set you up in a trap and you get pwnt. i was just thinking that this sort of change (while outside of normal game mechanics, but i don't care since it's not a very serious concept anyway) would force players to play more aggressively against tager and he handles that slightly better than being full screen zoned all match. so it'd be a buff without actually buffing him.

Nah, as a rule you don't change entire core mechanics for particular players like that. I'm more of the opinion that negative penalty should disable your drive button, would basically stop all of those runners in an instant.

No. Aside from all the reasons why it's a silly idea it would only improve a small number of match ups, and even then not by as much as you would think. Very few matches end in time out and the character who was most capable of this against Tager (Hazama) does a Lot of damage. Tager also doesn't have the greatest defensive options either, so he couldn't really apply it intentionally as a strategy in most cases. It's not really impossible to rush down Tager either.
Osmond Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 (edited) Tagers was defense was supposed to be good but really it seems like just enough for him to get by with due to his hitbox, I mean what good is a load of extra primers if you can't get out of pressure once you are in it. It would not be practical to make his hit box smaller without shrinking him but If they gave him somethings to get his opponent off him, that be great. I think that is what the Voltic charge > sledge counter was supposed to be like. Maybe they will add some new moves in the next full game? I mean not to get my hopes up but it could happen... negative penalty should disable your drive button, would basically stop all of those runners in an instant. That would ruin Hazama's life but it seems fairish to me, I mean even the ranged characters have to come in to attack eventually Edited August 19, 2011 by Osmond
Manta Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Hazama doesn't get negative penalty for actually attacking with his drive, so it'd only sting him if he was just sky surfing with it.
CrazyI-nomitsu Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 http://www.tougeki.com/prelim?id=7232 picture of hope. Akira actually looks pretty cool. Also, I think he can win SBO. Our super bad are no where to be found.
FlyingVe Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Charging sledge = more time to get hit out of it NOT IF I SLEDGE YOU FIRST!!!!! Nah, as a rule you don't change entire core mechanics for particular players like that. I'm more of the opinion that negative penalty should disable your drive button, would basically stop all of those runners in an instant. They could do a more GG styled negative penalty, it kicks in faster and you lose you heat. Of course this makes less sense in the world of BB, in GG everything tied back to tension, in BB all these elements are separate.
Osuna Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 No comment on the picture of hope? Not really, Tager has made it to SBO before. It's not really news. Also someone said a while back that Tager was supposed to have good defense because of his primers? That's not true. Having a lot of primers doesn't correlate at all to having good defense.
FlyingVe Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 I've always described a good defense as the ability to stop blocking, rather than the ability to block more.
Tetra - K Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 So true... When does the second lokestest take place?

Only MikeZ and Jan, they show why tager is top tier in america. I dont think a Japanese tager ever made it to sbo before, if so who was it? I hope Akira wins. Edited August 21, 2011 by TagerTime
Isorropia Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 In CT Kouji made it to SBO. Got past qualifiers into bracket, lost first round of the bracket.
A.X.I.S. Posted August 21, 2011 Author Posted August 21, 2011 In CT it was Kouji to make it to SBO. In CS1 it was SUB. In CS2 we have Akira. Also I can show you why Tager is top tier in america but I won't because I don't have to. I got Sandbag swag.

I hope Akira wins.Tager does alright in the states because the BB level is america is low even for a fighting game. That said, you can't really call him good even in america after EVO, imo. Was Kouji the one who lost to a Jin player?

You got that right. Anyways, about your comment on Tager's defense. I always wonder why we got that many primers in the first place. They don't do anything good for us. We just block longer than anyone else.

A.X.I.S. Posted August 22, 2011 Author Posted August 22, 2011 It's because Tager has no mobility, ASW saw that Tager lacks a lot of tools (bastards intentionally did that.) and didn't want a repeat of CT so they gave us a ton of primers. It just means it takes a lot longer for us to get guard broken. That's the way I see it. Hey remember in CS1 loctests when Tager had 11 primers? Good stuff.
Osmond Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 I am not much off a fan of the primer system in the first place, I mean sure it can put a damper on turtling but this is BB, turtling was never much of an effective tactic in my opinion in the first place. I guess it is kinda better then CT though I would say by much...Speaking of CT I found my old copy while cleaning out my computer desk and popped it in. It was kinda weird to go back. That game is really broken ...I mean really. Anyone who has the gal to bitch about Noel now has obiviously forgotten back this game completely
FlyingVe Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Noel isn't broken. She isn't even OP. She's just really, really, stupid.
CrazyI-nomitsu Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Well blocking is fun then. I wish we could guard break better though.
Dacidbro Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 You're having difficulty guard breaking with TAGER?
