Seiki Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Bishop also plays Akihiko. Speaking of Akihiko, man everyone plays him so differently. I haven't seen two players who play him similarly.
LastStarSaviour Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Going to give a general shout-out to everyone, good stuff from all. Really pissed about my performance, but I can get over that. @Tad: You vanished fast as heck man, our FT100, my body was ready. Ah well, we'll get it in next time.
Azure Phoenix Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 GGs to everyone I played at the tourney yesterday; had a lot of fun. Good stuff to all the placers. The turnout was great. Glad there are so many of you guys playing P4A and I look forward to playing you all more. Shoutouts to Jackie aka American Kusoru for the ballsy Yu play lol. Shoutouts to Tad and Phil for the old school Guilty Gear matches. Can't wait for the console release and I hope the revival goes well. And special thanks to Milln for running everything.
Tophatmoffet Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Shinblade plays akihiko as well. TN is chok-full of protien.
Grimstar Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Man how can you resist the man version of little red riding hood? Dude reps mad catz on his chest FOR REAL, REAL SCARS AND SHIT! I almost mained him at first too. Then I saw Yosuke and was like "OMGLOLIRUNFASTWEEEEEEEEEEE"
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Yesss. Liz feels fucking amazing now. Even netplay bullshit can't stop me.
Tophatmoffet Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 (edited) And there ends my successful night of ranked. I gained 135 psr. Now at 252. Lost to some very good yosukes but other than that, almost all wins. I feel like setting up knockdown into mixup oki is the key thing that helped me win some of the tougher matches. Also I guess I never noticed but labrys deals residual blue health on all her axe attacks. Edited August 20, 2012 by Tophatmoffet
Seiki Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Star I tried out kanji's dp v.s. akihiko's attacks in lightning mode and akihiko still gets hit. However, I did find something else. If akihiko is paralyzed he can do his lightning mode and it removes the paralysis effect. Didn't know that before!!!!

Seiki Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Maybe supers remove status effects? or is it an Akihiko thing? nope i tried it against poison, and i tried my other supers when i was paralyzed and nothing else removes that or any other status. I tried yosuke's awakening super against several statuses and he doesn't do anything.

Milln Posted August 20, 2012 Author Posted August 20, 2012 Going to give a general shout-out to everyone, good stuff from all. Really pissed about my performance, but I can get over that. Can I ask why you're upset about getting 7th out of 25, going 3-2? GGs to everyone I played at the tourney yesterday; had a lot of fun. Good stuff to all the placers. The turnout was great. No probs, man. I have a lot of fun running these and just want to create a place to play and level up. Star I tried out kanji's dp v.s. akihiko's attacks in lightning mode and akihiko still gets hit. Jackie Chandler Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Yesterday was SO. MUCH. FUN. I needed Sunday just to recover. Srsly. But now that I'm all rested 'n stuff, shoutouts! I'll be keeping things brief this time, because ermahgerd I have a lot to make. Milln: DEM TOURNAMENTS. <3 There's no doubt in my mind that we wouldn't have these kinds of tournaments if it weren't for you. So thanks for doing for everything you do. And keep playing dat Yosuke! I was pleasantly surprised in our games after our tourney match. Arson: Dood, we didn't talk, like at all. I'm not avoiding you, I promise. ;-; We need to get something planned for the Cookeville crew! I still haven't played you in person since Marvel 3 vanilla, and that's NOT okay. X/ Astaroth: I seriously need to thank you for being such a good sport about our game. There are a lot of people who would have called for a DQ in that situation, but you didn't. You were just kicking my ass so convincingly before, I totally forgot about winning the round before, haha. Still, I hope you enjoyed our games (I sure as hell know I did), and I'm looking forward to playing you again before next time! P.S. Hope you had a great birthday at MTN and otherwise. :D Azure Phoenix: You know, before the tournament, I wasn't worried about Labrys. At all. Nothing I'd seen online, in videos, OR in person made me think she was a real force to be reckoned with. And then, I played you. Dayum, was I wrong. I'm gonna have to go to the lab and do some research on her now, haha. It was good seeing ya, and congrats on taking Doubles! Hope you can make it up again soon. Bishop: DAT CHIE. It was really good to play another person who knows how to utilize their characters bullshit oki. :P We had some really, REALLY hype games in both Double's AND Single's Grand Finals- even if some of them had some particularly dumb moments, haha. Congrats on taking both P4A tournaments, and be sure to come back up for the next tourney ASAP! I need dat runback. :3 Boom Cube: It was good to finally play you in something again that wasn't... UMvC3 randoms, lol. Your Akihiko is coming along nicely! I saw a few things that really impressed me, like Super Canceling your DP when you hit my Persona to prevent me from punishing it. That was really nice. Hope you keep on playing the game, and to play you again when the next tourney rolls around! Doromac: I'll never understand how you can play so well competitively in a game you don't even own. Make that lemonade stand so you can buy your waifu! See you online when you do~. Eireprince: Your driving is way too S-tier. Too bad my directions and attention span while talking are F- tier. XD Thanks for coming up and participating, and thanks especially for driving! It's more comfortable riding in your car's backseat than it is DRIVING in my own car with the driver's seat all the way back. Seriously. G-ram: Read: Arson. Grimstar: OMG BILLY HOW COULD YOU. You can't send me into Loser's, then lose the next two games. That's just... That's just not fair, man. Badass Overlord? Moar like BAD ASS OVERLORD. ;~; Nah, I'm just kidding. Your Yosuke is legit. I'll be sure to get you next time myself! >:3 Justin: Where da eff did you go? We talked really briefly when KoF was going on, and then you just kinda... Disappeared. :< Y U NO stay for Persona?! The game essentially has Doritos. Except instead of blue triangles, the Doritos are robot manifestations of yourself... Or something. I dunno. PLAY IT. K.O.: You missed us touching each other's butts! Come with Milln next time. Shit's hype~. Keith: Dude, ya gotta stop being down in the dumps all the time. I know you're solid- you were solid the week before the tournament, too. Just because you lost some games doesn't mean you're bad. All they are are learning opportunities. So just stick with things, and they'll get better. You'll see. KhaosMuffins: It was good meeting you! You're right, it's been a long time since the CT days, haha. Keep on repping Akihiko, and try to make it again next time! I didn't get a chance to play you. :[ Klein: I'm convinced that your epic beard is the source of your godly Slayer powers. I didn't get a chance to play you in anything (;_, but I did see you playing GG very well, and it's awesome to see. But don't get too comfortable close to the top- I'll be making my way up with Sol come October~. :3 Midnight: R.I.P. MrMinionMan: Dude, it seems like you have a pretty serious KoF. People better watch out for you next time. ;3 From what we talked about last night, it seems like you're really starting to get passionate about fighting games, which makes me really happy. I may not be that great at KoF, but I'll at least try to keep up with you if you're serious about improving in it. Let's rep Cookeville well! Naimat: Yeah, I'm scared of your Akihiko. From what I saw you play, you grasp a lot of the finer things about him- frame traps, safe mix-ups, stuff like that. If you can get those things down pat and combine those with some higher-damaging combos (which I know you can), I'll be legitimately scared to fight you next tourney. That, hype to see it in action. :3 Papstr: UNBEARABLE DP'S. YES. It was a lot of fun hanging and talking with you Saturday. I've been missing ya in Cookeville. :< But school's coming up, and hopefully I won't be as busy this semester. We gotta develop that Teddie of yours~. And thanks for the hype commentary with Milln. Just listening back to the audio by itself is amazing. Can't wait to get these videos up. :D Phil: GUILTY GEAR OH MAI GAH. Watch out. AmeriKusoru is coming. October 2012. And thanks for showing and staying for P4A! It's cool to hear you're interested in it. Be sure to hit us up once you have it! It's a great game, really. Ponder: Can't say I didn't warn you 'bout those DP's. X3 Still good games, and it was nice meeting you! Hope you can make it up more often. Guilty Gear seems like it's gonna have a big revival. :] Shinblade: Dude, it was great to see and play you in Guilty Gear. As an aspiring Sol main myself, it was really neat seeing that high-level Sol stuff come out on the screen in person. I'll do my best to spam DP's less next time. … Okay, that's not true. But I'll try to do MORE than just spam DP's next time. It was a real pleasure meeting you, and make it to the next MTN if you can! Star: Okaaaaay. Apology time. I was playing both Billy and Milln's Yosuke in the tournament, and his DP is *better* than I thought. It has deceptively long active frames, and deceptively short recovery. I still don't think it's the best DP in the game though. :P There's no reason to be disappointed in your performance- you did very well in the standings, and your Mitsuru is coming along well! I'm already afraid of facing you next time. :P Tad: Tad, you're just. A boss. At everything. Winning the entire GG tournament, winning P4A matches even though you don't own it, bringing like every GG setup... And just being a cool dude. It's always a pleasure talking and hanging with you. You did leave pretty suddenly though. DON'T DO THAT. K? K. I'll be catching up to you in GG soon. Better watch out. :] Uri: We missed you here, Woz! I hope you can make it next time. The competition's really fierce. You'd love it. :D And to answer your question, I recorded Winner's/Loser's Quarter Finals onwards. Once I get KoF edited and uploaded, I'll start on P4A. I should have it finished this week. :] Volpe: What the eff. Elizabeth's Counter Assault. But other than that, very solid Liz play. You rep her well, really. It sounds like you learned a lot both during and after the tournament, too, so I'll be looking forward to facing you again soon. I need to get in the habit of breaking those DP's, haha. Zeno: 5K YU COMBOS WUT. Thanks for showing me all the Yu stuff. I didn't get the chance to use any of it, but I'll keep it in mind when I'm back in the lab trying to improve my game. And I'll try to get the converter thing sorted out before next tournament. I know it's no fun playing with an unfamiliar control scheme. :/
Klein Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Naimat, if you ignore the wall of text I wrote on my PHONE for you, I will punch you in the junk. Next shoutout: I FRIGGIN' TOLD YOU PAPSTR. Now you owe me a dollar for my quality teaching. Also, turns out Teddie screw A and raging lion B are safe (raging lion B might even be positive, I set the AI to mash A after, and it beat my A mash) color me surprised. Next time we need to actually play a match so I can see all this bat and 2; nonsense you're doing
Alphakami Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Thanks to everyone for doing what they do that makes shit so much fun. Sorry about ducking out so quickly. I was not feeling well, and it got worse quickly, during P4U finals. I wasn't going to take away from the everyone's hype. No disrespect to anyone, which I think goes without saying. I really enjoyed what little Persona I played, and I still LOVE KoF. Special thanks to Memphis for coming out! Everyone will be catching up to me in Gear really soon, I only hope I can return the favor in Persona. <3

Astaroth136 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 First, I'm going to do the small negative part of my post. This tournament took ALL DAY. Normally, I wouldn't mind, but I did have other plans that was forced to be cancelled. It also affects our out-of-towners too, since they have to drive for hours back home. The problem, as I saw it, was setups. Too many casual setups were up at the beginning of the P4A team tournament. We should've at least had 4 or 5 setups for teams alone, until it got down to the end of it. Okay, shoutout time. Milln - Good stuff running everything. Thanks for spotting me venue. And thanks for being an awesome partner in teams. Again, we both lost in our matches, so you can't just blame yourself. Hell, I beat Patrick like 20-0 in casuals, then he beat me in a single match in teams. Download'd. Chandler - Unless it's at EVO or Final Round, I will never take a free dq win. I have to earn that win to get it. GGs in our matches. I can't believe I got timed out several times. That matchup is kind of annoying, but it showed me my mixup game was weak. I had you scared for most of the rounds and you weren't even dp'ing. I should've taken that opportunity to go for grabs more. Nice job getting 2nd! Doro - BUY THIS GAME! Thanks for helping with brackets when Milln had his tourney matches. Grimstar - Almost knocked me out after beating Chandler? You're like Carbon Monoxide... a silent killed no one ever suspects. Good stuff dude. P.S. I was legitimately salty during our matches because I couldn't punish your ridiculous movement. LOL Star - I could tell you were salty after our singles match, but it's understandable. You beat me in teams though, so I wanted vengeance. We need to grind out a ton of matches so we can both learn the ins and outs of that matchup. Tad - Dude, you were beating people that were beating me. LOLWUT. I liked learning things from just watching you (236A+B on block into command grab is genius). GGs in our matches, and thanks for doing 80% to me with one move when I was in negative penalty. Naimat - We never played, did we? Well, we talked a lot about P4A, and that was interesting. We'll get some online sessions soon. Volpe - Fighting a real Kanji for the first time is just a learning experience. You'll be making me rage about that 7-3 matchup soon... too soon. GGs nonetheless. Papstr - Always fun joking around with you. Now can we please get everyone on that Japanese fighting game that has a tank. A MOTHERFUCKING TANK?! It's too legit. Zeno - Look at you doing Yu things that completely catch me off guard and do a ton of damage. GGs in singles, and keep it up. Klein - We barely saw each other. You were grinding it in that Gear. Khaos Muffins - Very close matches in singles. All of you Akihiko players play so differently. What works on one player fails miserably on the other. I look forward to playing you in the future. Everyone else, I'll give your shoutouts on SRK sometime, since that's your home base.

You're like Carbon Monoxide... a silent killed no one ever suspects. Good stuff dude. P.S. I was legitimately salty during our matches because I couldn't punish your ridiculous movement. LOL. SHHH! Don't give away my secrets. I was thoroughly enjoying that salt fest btw. In my head I was yelling through the whole match "HOW DO YOU LIKE IT LEE?!!?!? HOW DO YOU LIKE IT?!!??! 360 ME FOR OVER HALF MY LIFE IN EVERY GAME!!! HOW DO YOU LIKE IT?!!?" Edited August 20, 2012 by Grimstar

We should've at least had 4 or 5 setups for teams alone, until it got down to the end of it. It did take all day and I already feel bad for it. The problem was 1) people were playing constant casuals, so I would look up, see a station in use and not call anything for it because 2) I had to hunt down almost every match result. Nobody wanted to report and just walked off which lead to 3) people waiting on keystone matches, often in multiple games, and not being available. Then when they came back, they had to gauntlet everything. Multiple individuals did this. Not shirking blame, because it is my responsibility to keep things going, but those are the reasons why. I apologize that you had to cancel plans. Edited August 20, 2012 by Milln
LastStarSaviour Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 (edited) @Astaroth: I wasn't too salty at you about our matches man (bottom line is, the better player won). I was more or less pissed at myself because of my grappler fear (carried over from Noel vs. tager) literally made me think I had a terrible match-up against you and that wasn't the case (probably quite the opposite actually). After losing to tad I had to tell myself "You have a GOOD character for this match-up, stop being free". Ultimately though, the fear still crept up on me. It's cool though, we should definitely get a bunch of casuals in, Tad is already due for our FT100, so Mitsuru vs kanji tech will be flying all over the place. @Milln: Why don't we run both systems for set-ups? We'd be able to double our load-out and the guys who showed up (Zeno's crew) who had some complaints about not being able to play at their best will be satisfied as well. I felt really bad for them because I know what it's like to not be able to play on your home console. Hope something can get worked out about that. Also, it was just minor mistakes I made on my end that got me upset. That, plus not having any Chie match-up experience and getting blown up horribly for it as well. It's cool though, that won't happen again. Edit: Sorry about playing casuals on the tourney stations, I knew better but the hunger got to me. Edited August 20, 2012 by LastStarSaviour
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 I've got my own minor gripe; those hd setups. On 360 I notice they have the same problem they did in Blazblue - a very slight display lag. I had a hard time punishing Jackie/capitalizing on my combos, which is why I preferred getting on the CRT setup each time. Astaroth had me outmatched, but I was type salty when he came from outside the screen to air command grab me. It's like anyone not used to playing hd on xbox has to choose between losing a couple frames or not being able to see themselves in the corner.
