Is this separate from MTN? I thought we were doing it the 29th.

That thread says October. That'll be the next next one I assume.

Devin-kun, I gotta ask, how long have you been playing fighting games, and how long did it take you to 'get them?' Also, are you a musician or musically talented as well?

@Star: Yeah, stunedge was the best Ky player in the states, and he's only here about half the year. He's one of only a handful of players I was never able to get a single win from. He was better than Steve Harrison is now, he's an absolute beast. If you haven't caught it yet his nick is Ky's projectile, which he rapes with. I imagine that's why he chose Yukiko. Similar attack angles with the projectiles. I'm certainly going to work with her next. Fuck Yosuke, I'll leave him to tall skinny bitches and guys with hats.

Nah this is Jason headed. Milln is running the normal MTN games if I'm not mistaken though.

Correctomundo. I'll probably be drafted to run Persona and KOF, but I'm not for sure yet on what my role will be. For now it's hype man.

Yosuke, I'll leave him to tall skinny bitches and guys with hats.

We go with your good graces.

Yo-oh I am so in that fucking KOF. The soul of Seoul is gonna axe kick the fuck out of someone. SO HYPE. Needs to be promoted like crazy. I need to quit trolling on SF4 and just practice. $500 is a nice chunk of monies.

YES IT DOES.

We all need to be spamming it everywhere getting the word out.

Twitter, facebook, word of mouth, notes chiseled into desks at school, post-it's on dogs... all that mess.

I've been playing fighting games since I was like 3 or 4. My dad used to play Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat when I was little and he'd give me a controller and I'd play with him. I liked it and we'd do it all the time. I just kept playing them all while I was growing up. Soul Calibur was my favorite fighting game up until CT came out, and that was the first game I ever took seriously.

I understood what combos and oki were while playing Soul Calibur 3 when I was about 9 or 10, I didn't know what the correct term for oki was because I didn't know it was a thing though. But I understood what combos were, and what qualified as a real combo and what could be escaped.

When BB came out, it was my first airdasher so I wasn't used to a game like it, and it was my first time ever playing against people other than my offline friends. I got whooped a lot at first since I knew nothing and had never fought any good players before.

After about two weeks I met a guy who added me because I did Noel's back throw into her air super which he had never seen before, and he thought it was cool. I told him I was interested in getting good so he referred me to some guys he knew that were good at fighters, and they taught me all the basics. From there I just kept playing, joined DL, started watching videos and came up with my own stuff.

So, I guess I started to really get them when I was about 11 or 12.

Am I musically talented? No, not at all. I'm not a very artistic person, I don't have many skills other than video games. I can't draw, play an instrument or write a story, etc. But my dad is, he's released a few albums with a band he used to be in and is now working on two different solo projects.

I want to learn piano and violin though.

Thanks for the story, young sir. I'm sure you are talented in other aspects you haven't discovered yet. Really looking forward to playing some game with you, both casual and tournament types. I'm really interested in playing some BB with you as well. I still enjoy that game greatly, as I'm sure others besides myself and Star do.

I'm off to Florida for a few days, I need to relax the old bones, and bury a few in some beach bunnies. I'll plan another hotel party or gathering when I return.

I doubt it, I'm kind of lazy, so I probably won't gain any skills. Ha ha. But I certainly hope I do!

I'm excited to play you as well, especially in GG. I'm really hyped about getting into competitive GG play, and even more so learning I-No and Venom (Or Anji, I don't know who I like more between those two.) at a higher level. (I decided May just wasn't for me)

Have fun in Florida!

Piano and Violin are top tier instruments.

Indeed they are, and the first song I'm going to learn on both is the most beautiful song in the world, and the theme to my favorite show:

I want to learn every version of it, because there's a bunch that play on the show which are done with different notes, timing and instruments that sound different. They normally change it to fit a certain character or moment in a episode, so there's quite a few. But I'd really love to know them all some day.

@Tad: I could really go for a good set of BB matches right about now myself. The more I play Persona, the more I start missing it. You still have a copy right? We need to get together and play whenever possible.

@Woz: You mean Mystline by Nujabes, right? I think you'll enjoy playing an instrument. Being able to create music is one of the greatest talents mankind has to offer. At least, that's how I felt when I bought my first drumset and started practicing. Learn the piano if you want women to swoon over you, or learn the violin if you want be that guy everyone says has etiquette and class.

I just listened to that song, and it's okay, but Life & Death is still better. :D

From the ages of 5-10 I wanted to play drums, but never actually learned how to play past a few simple beats. I still like them, but they don't have the beauty that I like in music. I wouldn't mind learning the bongos though, I've always liked them for some reason.

And the other day I was really craving a good set of BB, but then I was invited to play P4U and completely forgot to go play. I think I might take a whole day off tomorrow (Today, technically) from P4U and just play BB.

Hey, Akihiko players. Which hits (i.e. i know Caesar does) lead into damage over 2.3k on counterhit?

Playing a low life character is balls sometimes, trying to see what to watch out for.

All of his normals. His As are about 3k, his 5B is 6k, and caesar (aerial one) goes into 7k. I'm not sure about the grounded version of Caesar's sword.

..... Well crap. Is this specifically vs. a grounded opponent only?

YO EVERYONE. PENDING MTNG DATE CHANGE. September 29th conflicts with Season's Beatings and Jason wants a good stream count, which won't happen if we play on 29th. Currently looking at 15th.

I know his DP combos only work unless he hits you air-bourne though. Other than that, no, they aren't ground-specific.

Another tournament in the middle of the month? I like this!

Every CH Caeser turns into an easy conversion for 3.2k except anti-air ('easy' omitted, it's still possible). It can be tough to convert off a jump back j.beatstick because of Akihiko's inertia and landing recovery, but even CH j.C -> kill rush -> d duck -> a cork is around 3k.

Worst case is when Caeser whips it out in the corner. The conversion is easier, and it tuns into something around 5.5-6k with 50 bar.

Counterhit 5B is destructive, too, right? I see you doing some flippy boomerang hook off of throw sometimes, is that only counterhit? Boomerang Hook fatal counters raw can you get similar high numbers off of it, sans super?

Akihiko is a bully.

CH 5B (and 2B) can combo into B kill rush, which nets you his goofy DP -> jump loop garbage. That's where his big damage comes from, as far as I've seen. You can also get CH 5B -> c duck -> full combo, but the damage is less; it's more for the sake of installing a hit confirm into a tick throw mixup, where 5B -> B Kill Rush is just an arrogant frame trap.

CH AA 2B -> c duck or jump back -> air dash forward jB leads into 5B -> jump loop as well.

The double hook -> cork throw combo I think you're referring to is just off a level 3 throw. On CH throw, they're left standing long enough to get a c duck into full BnB.

CH Hook -> c duck gives you a full BnB. CH lvl 3 hook gives you a crumple and enough added hitstun to get d sway -> lvl 3 cork into jump loop.

CH lvl 2/3 Cork gives you a crumple into jump loop

CH Vegeta Landing (214 A/B in the air, can't remember the name) gives you a hook -> b cork for a 3 hit 2.5k combo

B+D at lvl 2 and 3 give you 5B -> jump loop. That's usually gonna be a CH anyway to stop people from hammering 2A like one of the Come On Baby buttons is broken, and the added hitstun nets you another rep of the jump loop.

Edit cause I keep remembering crap.

I believe Aki can confirm most CH's into A+B & force a FCH in the corner, netting even more shenanigans.

Yeah I'll be at that Season's Beatingz too. Don't wanna miss no good ol' TN action.

Thanks for the Akihiko information, it's very helpful in figuring out how I want to go through that fight when I need to be up close.

We're on the 15th, guys. If you have an issue with this I need to know immediately.

My rage has quelled a bit. Really have to watch out for this robot chick's hitboxes. They're really good.

Has anyone played any good Aigis's? She's on my "characters to be scared of" list, but I've only played a couple decent ones in ranked, and that's about it.

EDIT: About halfway through with P4A editing, and I realize that Winner's Finals was treated as first to two. This is, like, the third time this has happened in an MTN tournament. :V

Ayashii's pretty good, but I dunno. I get the feeling that once you get a feel for her, her stiff playstyle will make her really easy to read. Her mix-up is dangerous but no more so than Narukami/Chie. In fact, Chie's is scarier and Narukami's more frustrating imo. I actually feel confident while blocking Aegis for some reason, even though she gets huge damage from practically any mistake.

Posted

Unlike a lot of other characters, Aigis's Persona normals seem really underwhelming. But Aigis in herself seems incredibly dangerous to me (easy to read ≠ not getting hit), and Orgia Mode combined with her zoning tools and Persona mechanics makes me think she can excel both up close and at a distance.

Posted

Yeah, Ayashi's Aegis is definitely who you need to be facing if you want to learn the match-up. Probably the best Aigis in the country at the moment. He'll teach you the wonders of how to guess wrong and take 4k for it each time with true oki.

Getting blown up by Kanji on stream. Q_Q
