Klein Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Got here through Milln, must be a legit cool guy. Welcome.
Milln Posted August 21, 2012 Author Posted August 21, 2012 Now leaving TN. Peace. *somber music plays. Takes off his hat* ....Godspeed..... Alex lives in Knoxville. I met him when I went to go do work at AnimeSoutheast, so Woz should have a buddy, now. This is his first ArcSys game, but he plays Akihiko and Kanji.

Astaroth136 Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 That awesome moment when you're killing an online Yu with only command grabs and his navigator makes the comment, "This is the same thing over and over!" Also, 13/13 in ranked. Almost lost to a dude on my friends list who uses Liz, but timeout saved me during his combo.
AlexSanteria Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Man if I could get the Yu one for my fightstick, dear god.
Alphakami Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 (edited) So there is a chance my I separated my shoulder at work today. We can only hope, because that means I'll get about a month of paid vacation while I heal. Guess what I'll be doing with my month off? Hee hee hee. So much games. Travel and play for a full month? If this works out, I'm gong to plan a serious injury every six months. Moffet-san, travel safely, hope to catch you on the flip side. Do you agree with this?http://shoryuken.com/2012/08/21/thinking-about-design-options-as-the-greatest-resource/ Edited August 22, 2012 by Alphakami
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 I figured that was the whole point of tier lists in the first place. High tier characters are supposed to have a deadly range of tools to use on their opponent, and the more options they have in any given situation the harder they'll be to read. Or something.

Do you agree with this?http://shoryuken.com/2012/08/21/thinking-about-design-options-as-the-greatest-resource/ I personally don't agree with this. I'll say in marvel, it's not really a matter, because touch of death is all that game is, but for other games I think tier lists are garbage. Citing the example given, I'll talk about Kanji in P4A. If used right, Kanji can take off half to 3/4 health is one combo. Kanji can walk right over any top tier character if he is played right. Persona 4 arena is an extremely balanced game, and honestly, outside of Elizabeth who is essentially P4A's phoenix, any character played right is at no disadvantage, which in turn shows arc works skill.
g-ram Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Anyone wanting to play some in couple hours on ps3? Still been playing teddie mainly but I'm trying to find someone who I enjoy as much on the side. Yukiko is so fun but the terrible damage output and low health is just something I'm having a hard time handling.

Do you agree with this?http://shoryuken.com/2012/08/21/thinking-about-design-options-as-the-greatest-resource/ I do agree. So long as the game isn't reliant on touch of death combos (mahvul) and you don't nerf a character's health to the point of dying in one combo, then the options they have are definitely what make them stand out. However I think that before removing a characters options, devs should add those options to the weaker characters, and attempt to bring the rest of the cast up, rather than knock it all down.
Astaroth136 Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Aaaaaaand there goes my perfect ranked record. I lost to the world's worst Kanji... TWICE. Mirror matches are the bane of my existence. This dude literally beat me with dp/cmd grab/236C. I lost r/p/s to a tard.

This dude literally beat me with dp/cmd grab/236C. I lost r/p/s to a tard. Star lost that way last Saturday to similar tactics. I happens to the best of us. I took a loss to the worst May player in America a few years back at Final Round. Literally used two buttons the entire fight, and I couldn't find a way to beat it. I hope we have non-retarded mirrors in the near future.
Seiki Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 I never felt that lowering health or removing options from a character were the best ways of balancing. Just nerfing properties of said character's options while maintaining their functionality would make the game more fair while also preserving that which makes that character unique. That's why I love how Arcsys decided to balance Eddie in AC +R.

That's why I love how Arcsys decided to balance Eddie in AC +R. That's the exact reason I love KoF. The article talks about it but the grapplers, Raiden, Daimon, and Clark, are all good and very scary characters. It feels like in most other fg's grapplers aren't really that scary, it's just them working as hard as they can to get to you and hoping they can stay in. Really it just feels like a chore, I just hate the fact that I love command throws.
LastStarSaviour Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 (edited) Leaving this here for those who need more encouragement to play yukiko: Stunedge vs Part 1 Stunedge vs Part 2 Stunedge vs Part 3 More Stunedge Edited August 22, 2012 by LastStarSaviour
g-ram Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Leaving this here for those who need more encouragement to play yukiko: Stunedge vs Part 1 Stunedge vs Part 2 Stunedge vs Part 3 More Stunedge The thing is I know that you can be good with her, that's not an issue. I'm not used to that type of character though, in both SF and KOF I don't really play low damage characters so it's a bit of a transition. Also there is Teddie. Teddie was one of the two characters, Kanji being the other, that I wanted to play really badly before the game even came out just based on their characters and how much I like them. While I love Teddie as a character and he is fun to play as I deffinetly have more fun with Yukiko when it doesn't feel like I'm getting just hounded in the matchup. Characters like Mitsuru, who can punish and persona break me easily on things that the others can't because of her reach on her normals, and Elizabeth, who zones just as well but does way more damage, make me rage more than I have ever raged in a game lol. I really need to play people more online though is part of it. More variety and experience from the variety could make it more fun in the end. Still REALLY love playing as Teddie though, not sure who I would play in the next tournament, Teddie is easier so I'm sure that's part of the likability lol.
Jackie Chandler Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Oooo, there's some good Yu stuff in those videos too. Thanks Star. @Videos: I've got the last five parts of KoF edited and uploading right now. It should be finished by tomorrow afternoon. P4A is processing right now. It should be edited and uploaded by Thursday afternoon.
Alphakami Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 @Star: Those Stunedge vids are inspiring. He used to rock shit with Ky, and I'm tempted to give Yosuke the boot for some fans and fire. Great find.
LastStarSaviour Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 (edited) @Tad: Yeah, Stunedge has made me want to mess around a bit with her in the lab myself. I didn't know he was a GG player, that's an extra bit of news. @G-Ram: You don't even have to pay attention to that post at all. I put it in here because I know that Milln, Tad (he plays everyone right now), myself, and a few others are trying to play her and would enjoy the matches period. Plus it was against a Narukami player and Akihiko player so Naimat and a few others might've wanted to see it. I've given up on the idea of having strong Yukiko mains in TN sadly. @Jackie: Some more stuff for you Matches Edit: Thinking about it now Tad, i'm surprised Yukiko wasn't at the top of your list of characters you wanted to play. I could picture you playing her honestly. Edited August 22, 2012 by LastStarSaviour
Urichinan Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Star, are you going to send me that combo notation for me to try?
LastStarSaviour Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 (edited) Star, are you going to send me that combo notation for me to try? In a bit, i'm still testing it out in the lab. It might be impossible to do with Mitsuru though. Edit: Is it weird that I miss BB? Like, really badly? I really want to play it again for some reason. Scrap the project Woz, it's not possible. g-ram Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 GGs Woz. I have no idea what to do against you. Feel like it's just a difference in the understanding of the game though. Couple things, first off what is your notation for smp loop, second how on earth does Naoto's insta kill work, no idea how that hit me.

I honestly have no idea how her IK works, I know that if you step in front of one of the scopes it's unblockable and is what activates the IK. But there is a certain spot on the screen where you can go that you won't be hit, someone made a video of it, so check on YouTube. The one I used was 2A > 5AA > 2A+B > EX Double Fangs > Muudo > Jump > 214D > 5B > A Double Fangs~D > D Trap hits > 5C > B Double Fangs x11 > A Double Fangs~D for 7.4K.
