GG'z and shoutouts to errrrrrrrrrrbody at the 18th tournament. Was a ton of fun. It did take all day.... but I mean, I guess I'm just used to that. Unless a tournament is run by Jason, usually it can take a while. I think the real problem was just not running teams early and quickly enough. Teams could have been 90% done by the time singles started. It was mostly just casuals, which need to be halted completely until tournaments are winding down. This was like, first big tournament and pretty much everyone was wanting casuals in P4A so I don't think anyone was going to be too strict on that. It was nobody's fault, it was just a kind of general atmosphere of chillin', illin' and videogamin'. If you got shit to do, just say something and I'm sure milln would have moved it along, bitching at people like me more to play my 6 matches in each game LOL.

Naimat - Good shit playing Cay-Oh-Eff. That game is too legit and I'm glad you ain't giving up on it and getting discouraged like so many others. Keep playing Mr. K, also switch out Shen for Kyo. Then you'll have my old/secondary team. Karate, Kyo and Kim. Too strong. You're doing good though, its just like you said, you need them long sets. Start watching vids. I know you don't like to, but it really does help. Gives you ideas and helps you understand footsies and mindgames in the KOF setting.

Chandler - Da fuq you talking about, me and Graham play all of the time, like 5-6 times a week usually. Hit me up on XBL even. Good shit in P4U. Narukami is so underrated.

Milln - Good shit in P4U and KOF. Thanks for hosting and running the tournament. Yosuke is a doucher. Just saying. You think about that.

Billy - Make a Yosuke costume. You're the only person tall and skinny enough. Just make sure to have the dumbest looking hair and glasses so you get that authentic Yosuke look. Also his persona looks dumb. He's dumb.

Tad - Good shit winning gear and entering KOF. Glad you still like KOF and are into P4U. We need to get some KOF games in.

Also shoutouts to Milln's roommate... Fucking cannot remember his name because I can't remember shit ever. Don't know if you lurk or post here, but either way, GGs in KOF. Never played you in my life, and then you nearly OCV'ed me with Athena in the first game. I definitely want to get more games in.

Good stuff to everyone else, still meeting and getting to know people. I didn't play much P4U because I was more focused on KOF as usual.

I sent you a friend invite months ago. I resent it last night.

It did take all day and I already feel bad for it. The problem was 1) people were playing constant casuals, so I would look up, see a station in use and not call anything for it because 2) I had to hunt down almost every match result. Nobody wanted to report and just walked off which lead to 3) people waiting on keystone matches, often in multiple games, and not being available. Then when they came back, they had to gauntlet everything. Multiple individuals did this. Not shirking blame, because it is my responsibility to keep things going, but those are the reasons why.

I apologize that you had to cancel plans.

Eh, no biggie. Next time, just make it a rule that if a tourney match is over, they must get up and report. If not, then DQ. It may be best to only run one or two casual stations and tell people to rotate the game in it (KoF if people want that, Marvel, Persona, etc.). It may piss people off, but they should understand that the tourney will end faster, leading to more casuals.

I've got my own minor gripe; those hd setups. On 360 I notice they have the same problem they did in Blazblue - a very slight display lag. I had a hard time punishing Jackie/capitalizing on my combos, which is why I preferred getting on the CRT setup each time. Astaroth had me outmatched, but I was type salty when he came from outside the screen to air command grab me. It's like anyone not used to playing hd on xbox has to choose between losing a couple frames or not being able to see themselves in the corner.

THAT'S WHY I KEPT MISSING j.A AFTER overhead -> launches!!! Seriously. I missed my fatal launch combo four times in the tournament, and it's really easy to do. You'll see two of these mishaps in my matches against Star and Chandler.

Klein I read your post. I have much respect for how fast you are getting good in Gear and it reflects how skilled you are as a player. I'm not one that collapses underneath the pile of salt. As Bane would say, "You may have adopted the salt, but I was born in it." It's what drives me to get better. Next tourney I'll know Order-Sol combos...that much I can promise lol.

First of all: I agree. since it was the first P4 tourney, everyone wanted to play. I had no problem with it taking a while. It was hella fun. Milln you shouldn't feel bad man, you did great considering how much higher of a turnout that was than the usual MTN's and the fact that 5 tournaments happened that day. Sure sure it could have been faster, but honestly people were just playing casuals and having fun. No reason to make a fuss. Next time we just all need to help pay more attention to the brackets, and put our feet down with people playing casuals on a tourney setup. No biggie.

As for Yosukeing myself. Dude. Yes. I just need some big ass headphones, a blazerish type coat thing, and I'm pretty much good. I'll whack my hair out like that when it's long enough.

I nominate Milln to be my Jiraiya:

I'll take the respect regardless, but 'fast' is more than a little bit of an exaggeration. I've been playing Gear vs people on and off for several months. I just have terrible execution, and only show off so many casuals at tournaments, so it doesn't seems like it.

And color me glad to hear it, but don't forget the more basic side of things like spacing, hit confirmation, safe mixups, baits, remembering to grab when someone screws up, and probably some other stuff I'm not thinking about. Look into dash break grabs too, in the corner his grabs are deadly, and I recall a lot of his mixups being reactable.

Gotta love Brosuke. "Oh, you threw out a move to make me respect the space in front of you? Better turn-airdash and punish you from full screen."

That moment when you run into a random online Akihiko that makes you remember why you loved playing the game and the character you play in the first place. Gosh, that match has me all hot and bothered.

Two players, each utilizing their tools to make the best reads possible. Two characters, both strong in their aspect, weak in the other character's. Every read, leading to huge punishment from both sides, each match coming down to the wire. The satisfaction of making the right read, the salt of making the wrong one.

THIS IS WHY I PLAY THIS GAME DAMNIT!!

P.S. Mitsuru vs Akihiko is officially my favorite match-up in the game.

This can happen in every game, and many match-ups in said every game.

Indeed, but it happened in P4U!

I guess I should say it's the first time in a while that it felt like I was truly in my opponent's head, a completely different kind of feeling. It'll probably happen more once I learn the other charaters' options. But for now, that is going on my favorite fighting game encounters list.

Lucky for you, there's an F-ton of them in Tennessee. I found another in East Tennessee near Woz, in Knoxville. I Swear, all of us that don't play the Two-Fisted Protein Junkie are gonna know that matchup inside and out.

Naimat

Patrick

Zeth

Shinblade

KhaosMuffins

Bishop has a pocket Aki

Cross Reign(From Knoxville)

List goes on for days.

So I can plan another local hotel party, or we can plan a meet-up with the OH/KY crew. What's next guys? We could also consider a hotel party in the Maryville area, since TN's child-beast is having travel problems.

We do have a lot of them don't we? I do have to admit though, it may have been more of the player that I met rather than the match-up. Those matches were just too hype for me.

@Tad: Finding a job!

I'll go where the games are, as long as I'm off. I need to know in advance so I can request it if it's a day that I can't just simply schedule myself off.

I think it has far less to do with understanding the opponent's limited chara options, and more on facing the man holding the opposing controller. I'll think this until the day I die, I'd bet. It's the reason I handed you a loss and then got raped by Billy. It is a different kind of feeling, and it's the best kind, it's the one that nets you wins instead of losses. You don't have to have a deep understanding of everything thing that can occur in a match up to get a win, it's simply a piece of advantage you that may get a chance to use. I'm no where near the level of Milln/Arson/ShinBlade or most of the other KoF players, but I can steal wins by outplaying the situation when 'that guy' is holding the controller.

I only say this as a coach by profession, but I got respect for you. Next time we play, I don't wanna see you playing the Kanji match-up as much as you play the Tad match-up. Klein calls out my bullshit all day long, because he knows I'm dishonest as fuck. Basically, you're black, so act like it. You should, at the very least, be blacker than me, right? Right? Don't take that shit.

Addendum: I'm full of shit. <3

This is why I fucking love Yosuke. Wish he was in every fighting game now. Because I get that feels in EVERY match I play. I'm literally just trying to trick my opponent with every single hit I do. I try to bait and outsmart their reads. I think he's honestly the most fun character I've gotten to play in every fighting game ever. I need to discover more characters I can play like him.

@Tad: So basically, love Mitsuru more and body people? I'm either supposed to walk away from this with that or you want a FT100.

Both.

Guys, make sure the next tournament isn't on the 3rd week of a month. That way my parents won't be out of town working and I can come. :kitty:

EDIT: Also, check it:

I can't figure out how to break 10K. =<
