Volpe-de-Glacio Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 (edited) I'm starting to think Yukiko might not be as low tier as we've been led to believe. Her Persona is actually hard to break if utilized properly, her normals are -excellent-, especially 2A, and her unblockable set-ups aren't actually that hard to get off, because you can get two or three levels in a single knockdown. In the hands of a skilled player, she's a freaking ridiculously deadly weapon. Her zoning is excellent; she can and will keep you EXACTLY where she wants you, her flames are persistent so even punishing her is risky, and her fans are quick and accurate. She's also got damage. Why does every low tier have damage yo?! I know that everyone is supposed to be viable, but I'm starting to think she might not even be B tier. Maybe she has bad match-ups, but when she can molest Liz and Mitsuru I don't know wtf is going on. Either way, SHADOWREDzero is a god. Edited September 9, 2012 by Volpe-de-Glacio
Zoizite Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Good shit to Star. Kanji v Mitsuru too much fun. Kanji vs the world is too much fun. Good shit to Naimat in GG. You're getting it. Good shit to Milln, just cause. Good shit to Darkiemac. Can I call you that? lol I can't remember exactly, but this month is my 20 year anniversary of building my first stick. 20 years ago I was playing Street Fighter II CE on the Genesis, learning how to cr.mk xx hadoken and st.hp xx srk. Jesus Christ it HAS been that long... fuck. Replace Genesis w/ SNES and that's me as well. Trying to do all the combos in the Gamepro guide. I still remember playing SF2 the first time in our local comic shop. They got a World Warrior machine when it was new. I picked Blanka and got owned by the comp. Spent a lot of money playing CE in the local arcade a little later. None of us knew what we were doing. If you could do specials you were godlike, lol. I'll be there on the 15th to get owned in P4A and hopefully do better in Gear.
Alphakami Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I'm starting to think Yukiko might not be as low tier as we've been led to believe. I wasn't led to believe anything, I thought for myself the whole time. <3 U. I'll be there on the 15th to get owned in P4A and hopefully do better in Gear. I can only be there part of the day. I've got work in the morning and a wedding in Nashville at 6, but I'll be there for a few hours in between.
Milln Posted September 9, 2012 Author Posted September 9, 2012 Yukiko is legit. Definitely don't sleep on her. All places where her persona is vulnerable, she cancel into a special or something to keep you from taking a card. Her unblockables are easy to accomplish, yeah, not even with fire break. Female little girl Eddie with fire.
Astaroth136 Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Either way, SHADOWREDzero is a god. Oh man, Shadowredzero is always legit in the games he plays. I played a ton of matches against him in Blazblue, and his Jin was really good. I need to hit him up soon.
A.X.I.S. Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 SRZ was at his best in CT/CS1, he wasn't as strong with his game in the later BB's. Yukiko vs Liz is probably evenish and if Mitsuru plays the match right Yukiko just loses her persona.
LastStarSaviour Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 (edited) @Axis: I'd have to disagree with you there. I can only really tag her persona if the Yukiko player is doing something EXTREMELY stupid. Shadowred played so solidly in our set in making sure there were no gaps for me to approach via persona/Coup Droit, all the while making sure to keep her persona from taking a beating. For a low-tier character, Yukiko vs Mitsuru is really good for Yukiko. Seeing as my slow normals and Persona moves keep me from punishing a lot of her moveset. Plus the fact that if i'm not spaced perfectly when I get in to initiate pressure once i've gotten in, she can just 2A me out of my Coup Droits and my 5As. If I block once I get in, I take a ton of chip damage as well as getting pushed back to the other side of the screen. If I get hit, I take damage and get thrown to the other side of the screen. Either ways, she's going to get me into her optimal positioning. With that said, the match-up is easily close to being in Yukiko's favor. Unfortunately, Being able to kill her in about 2 corner combos keep it from being so. I'd call it 5.5/4.5 Mitsuru's favor. Edited September 9, 2012 by LastStarSaviour
Milln Posted September 9, 2012 Author Posted September 9, 2012 For some reason, decimals in matchup theory really grind my gears.
LastStarSaviour Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 For some reason, decimals in matchup theory really grind my gears. Ikr, but if I put the match-up at even people would flip their shit. For some reason, Mitsuru has to be at an advantage on all of her match-ups, and there's absolutely no lee-way for change even though the game has been out for like a month. Lol, FGC is the best son.

I know, seriously. It's like "I HAVE TO PUT A DECIMAL." you can't have half a point, even to make a point! This transcends communities. Even Smash kids do it.
LastStarSaviour Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 It really is a weird way to put things in terms of match-ups honestly. I've always felt things needed to just be like 5/5, 6/4, 7/3, etc... Unless there's a match-up just so weird that it calls for decimals, XD
Ayashii Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 (edited) SRZ was at his best in CT/CS1, he wasn't as strong with his game in the later BB's. All you niggas (And myself) sucked ass in CT/CS1, that's why he seemed so amazing in those games in comparison. Misturu v. Yukiko has to be 6/4 Mitsuru since Yukiko is squishy and she probably is one of the better characters at just breaking personas, but Yukiko can definitely play well enough to keep Mitsuru old and hold her in pressure for long periods of time if done right. Volpe-de-Glacio Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 (edited) I wasn't led to believe anything, I thought for myself the whole time. <3 U. I'VE BEEN VALIDATED, YO. YOU CAN'T TAKE THAT FROM ME. But nah, I meant from past Yukiko performance. It seemed to me average Yukikos were doing everything right, they were just playing low tier, and I never really cared enough to watch Japanese Yukiko. Then I got a good set with SRZ in and saw the truth. Yukiko vs Liz is probably evenish and if Mitsuru plays the match right Yukiko just loses her persona. The thing is, Liz and Yukiko are heavily momentum based. Yukiko's just got a really strong neutral game where she gains momentum easily, and once she has it it's very difficult to break that steamroll. Granted I'm not the best Liz, but I'm no slouch, and it was really difficult to make her sweat. Once I got the ball rolling she was a lot easier to fight, but it's like being a little kid rolling the ball with two hands vs a bowling pro. Ikr, but if I put the match-up at even people would flip their shit. For some reason, Mitsuru has to be at an advantage on all of her match-ups, and there's absolutely no lee-way for change even though the game has been out for like a month. Lol, FGC is the best son. Yeah, I'd say it's safe to say Mitsuru vs. Elizabeth is actually 6-4 due to damage and Mitsuru's weird ass hitboxes. Elizabeth vs. Yukiko is 5-5 or 4.5-5.5 For some reason, decimals in matchup theory really grind my gears. 4.3333-5.6666, imo. We both get damage, she has an advantage at neutral, she has better reversal potential, and we both start wrecking shit once we establish momentum. Edited September 10, 2012 by Volpe-de-Glacio
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Double post cuz' Tekken deserves it. Is anyone gonna be bringing TTT2 to the next tournament? Watching some footage and I really want to play this game now. Not sure who I want to play, looking at Lars, King, Armored King, and Yoshimitsu. Shit looks hella hype.
Urichinan Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Well, with the rumor of the extra characters for TTT2 being confirmed, that pushes the roster to over 60 characters. Which means that it now officially has more characters than MvC2. GET. HYPE.

Volpe-de-Glacio Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Week 1 tournaments too godlike. I won't be entering, but I definitely wanna grab some casuals with somebody.
Urichinan Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 (edited) So, who is everyone going to be using in TTT2? I'm going with Anna/Lei and Anna/Michelle as my main teams. But I'm also going to be using Sebastian, Baek, Ganryu and Ling. So I'll probably switch them all up. Although, I more than likely won't be content with just those characters, and will probably end up using half the cast. Lol Edited September 10, 2012 by Urichinan
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Kinda disappointed that Miguel dropped the drunken fist (It was him, right?) So I dunno anymore. I'll prob go with King, Armored King, or Lars/Yoshimitsu. Either way, I'm gettin' mah Yoshi fix.
A.X.I.S. Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 @Axis: I'd have to disagree with you there. I can only really tag her persona if the Yukiko player is doing something EXTREMELY stupid. Unfortunately, Being able to kill her in about 2 corner combos keep it from being so. I'd call it 5.5/4.5 Mitsuru's favor. So I went and asked stunedge about Yukiko vs Mitsuru. 4-6 because Mitsuru is really strong at midscreen and Yukiko doesn't have the tools to deal with her. Not to mention her being squishy and Mitsuru being safe. Lol he was stronger with his game in CS2/EX, other people just closed the gap in skill. All you niggas (And myself) sucked ass in CT/CS1, that's why he seemed so amazing in those games in comparison. He doesn't give me problems in CS2/EX, In fact he seems easier than before. His CS1 game felt stronger.
LastStarSaviour Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 @Axis: Can't really see it as 4-6 but i'll leave it at that, I have a bit of research I need to do on that match-up on my own before I can come to a conclusion like that. I will keep in mind what Stunedge said though.
Jackie Chandler Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Aw, fuck. I forgot about TTT2. I'll buy it to (at the very least) support a set-up for it, but I don't think I'll end up really playing it. My poor wallet </3
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 In that case, how would you feel about letting me borrow your copy? I can understand if not, but I promised to get my friend a copy of P4A, so there's no way I'm getting my hands on this game anytime soon.
