Milln Posted September 5, 2012 Author Posted September 5, 2012 (edited) Uhh.. no. XD Not it at all. XD First, that X-Factor thing you're referencing is the emotion gauge. It's an invisible gauge that builds the more aggressive you are. When you reach a certain point you gain "High Emotion" and your attack properties increase. If you run a bunch or are forced to block(Yeah, so you get punished for blocking) a lot, you get Low Emotion which decreases your attack properties. Some attacks do more hits, damage, look different, etc. It always gravitates toward regular emotion. You can call assists at neutral at any time. There's a neutral Assist and a 4/6 Assist. They do their thing unless you get hit and recharge when they're done. Some Assists recharge faster than others. You can... I guess you can call it an assist cancel for now when you're still doing an attack, although it doesn't cancel your animations. This costs a super meter to do it. You've got A(Light)B(Medium)C(Heavy)and D(Assist). You can Magic Series into C, but no one's C is special cancellable, but they have fun properties like wall bounce or high profile or whatever. A+B does something. B+C is a universal overhead. Everyone's jump properties are different. Some characters can air dash, some can super jump, some are floaty. Edited September 5, 2012 by Milln
Tophatmoffet Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Samurai Champloo is so perfect. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhIiPySyRwg
Boom Cube Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 You've got A(Light)B(Medium)C(Heavy)and D(Assist). Everyone's jump properties are different. Some characters can air dash, some can super jump, some are floaty. B+C is actually a blowback attack for most characters. Chizuru's is some garbage overhead/ground bounce thing and it's one of a bunch of reasons why she's considered brokeshit (relatively). Other characters might have an overhead version as well, but for the few I played and the rest I've seen, it's basically just a heavy attack that knocks away. I really like how it plays. It seems like it'd be tough to get genuinely good with a handful of characters considering how every subscribes to their own movement options (a lot of characters have entirely different dash mechanics; sf dashes, arc sys full screen runs, karulau's wind up/special cancelable sprint), but it gives them personality I guess. Assists are funky cause they just kind of meander around in the background while you two are murdering each other, so you'll occasionally find the action on one end of the screen while your backup is having problems pulling the bricks out of her ass on the other. Not a huge deal, though, cause most characters are perfectly self sufficient. I dunno. It's fun.
LastStarSaviour Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 @Milln/Boomcube: Guess i'll have to watch more vids on it. I do like games that reward players for being aggressive (so long as every character has really strong offensive ability and the mechanic isn't too broken).
Klein Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Yeah, so you get punished for blocking Welp. I know what game I'll never play. Umineko was hard enough.
LastStarSaviour Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Just watched some vids of Multi, the little girl with the mop. Her moveset looks hilarious as hell. I mop the floor, you trip on that wet floor and I get damage boosts, haha!
Milln Posted September 5, 2012 Author Posted September 5, 2012 Epic short notice but who's up for pizza and video games tomorrow all day? I have a few things to do at different time periods so I'll be gone once or twice but you all are welcome to stay. Entry fee: Beverages (kidding) Pizza: Marcos. Throw-in required to eat. Games: Persona, Gear, Kof, whatever I have lying around including, but not limited to: Battle Fantasia, Munchkin, Windjammers, Garou, Vampire Saviour(I think), Dokapon Kingdom(lmao), Tetris Attack, Psychic Force 2012, Suguri X, Suguri 2, Portal 2, Dead Nation, Project M, the list goes on.
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I've got obligations and shit, but who all's going to fight night next week? I might be able to make it. Hype as hell for the 15th yo.
Jackie Chandler Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I've got classes and babysitting from 9:30 - 8:30 tomorrow, so I won't be able to make it. Also, Tuesday will always a babysitting day for me, so unless something comes up like the kid gets sick, I won't be able to make it to a fight night EVAR. On the off occasion he is some time, I'll factor in gas money and whatnot to see if I can make it. If anybody can make it to Milln's tomorrow, someone bring chips. Maybe eventually Milln will find out how he feels about this.
Milln Posted September 5, 2012 Author Posted September 5, 2012 I'm going to fight night next week unless RadioShack tells me otherwise. You be aight, Jackie. Yo, fellas. I'm at work on my phone. Someone tell Kyle to gear him and his crew that they need to come down for King of Bling. Georgia is coming, Michigan is coming, Ohio is needed. We'll have a state vs. state team battle if Jason will let me.
Boss Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Did somebody say something about Vanguard Princess??? That game is pretty cool. Wish it was out on console.
Urichinan Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Anybody down for some matches tonight in P4U or BB? Ha! Like anyone is gonna' play BB. Seriously though, I need some good P4U matches tonight on PSN.
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 (edited) I'll fight ya. But sigh. . .That moment when you only lose against an S rank Mitsuru because you try to be tricky with them thinking they'll block your pressure, so you miss your throws AND hit-confirms. I gotta stop over-estimating people. Edited September 5, 2012 by Volpe-de-Glacio
Klein Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Yo, Middy's off work on the 15th, if he doesn't come out we all go to his house and kidnap him, okay?
Seiki Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 With the way school is going right now I have to cut down my free time to little to none. I can't go to tournies because saturday is one of the three days i work during the week and that's a third of my paycheck i can't afford to lose out on. Fight nights are on school nights, and my research is occupying more and more of my time outside of classes. I'll be able to make it out if there is an event on holidays or breaks. Until then that's one less Akihiko to worry about....that leaves like 5 or 6 more LOL.
Eshi Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 It's not that it's bad, it's that for the most part it's two Liz's trying to do exactly the same thing to each other to punish/get mix-up. She has tools for dealing with other Elizabeths, it wouldn't make any sense for her not to be able to deal with herself. It's just a dumb fight cuz it's more frustrating than fun when you're holding each other off and struggling for momentum.it completely makes sense for her not to be able to deal with herself. not all mirror matches are created equally. some mirrors are played like any other match because the character has a strong, well-rounded set of tools, and other mirrors are awful because a few things a character has craps on their other tools. Think Arakune. In Liz's case her defense options are complete shit, her pokes and zoning are really slow/low damage and she has super low health. But her persona mix-up is really, really good. So whoever gets hit confirmed or put in a corner first almost always loses.
Urichinan Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Yo, Astaroth, I finally did something for you:
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 (edited) it completely makes sense for her not to be able to deal with herself. not all mirror matches are created equally. some mirrors are played like any other match because the character has a strong, well-rounded set of tools, and other mirrors are awful because a few things a character has craps on their other tools. So whoever gets hit confirmed or put in a corner first almost always loses. Except that if you get put in the corner against another Liz, it's your own fault. You can react to her dp with your own, you can reject her pressure, and you can zone out Thanatos and drag her into your space. Once you are in the corner it's purely a matter of reading your opponent. There's an answer to every tool in Liz's arsenal, and they're given to every single character in the game. You don't need great defensive tools to air dash, super jump air-dash, roll, or -block-. You just have to know what your opponent is thinking, which is one of the requisite skills for playing Elizabeth anyway. I really only said it was dumb because you're essentially trying to trap each other in the exact same ways, so it boils down to luck/who's the more experienced player, and at the time I'd never had to deal with another Liz before. Her normals actually have decent speed; her only slow move is 5B which you shouldn't be trying to use as a poke anyway. Edited September 6, 2012 by Volpe-de-Glacio
Milln Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 @Urichinan: I approve of the chairshots used.
Astaroth136 Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Haha! What a great combo, Woz. Chair hopping everywhere.
Urichinan Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 I'm going to try and find another awesome combo for him. I was hoping he'd be able to do OMB > Throw Super like Shadow Labrys can with her IK, but I couldn't get it to work after 30 minutes, so i don't think it does. I think he has potential for some mega-dumb looking combos though.
Jackie Chandler Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 6.7K off a single Fatal Counter D Dragon Kick. I will beat Score Attack some day.
Milln Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 www.twitch.tv/leveluplive is up with some Persona action.
Seiki Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 6.7K off a single Fatal Counter D Dragon Kick. I will beat Score Attack some day. never. Chandler factor doesn't work on robots.
Jackie Chandler Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 never. Chandler factor doesn't work on robots. Actually, I just recently learned that the AI will deliberately allow random IK's to hit them for free. So... :3c
