I'm not the best at anything and i'm barely good at a few things. Sadlife

Also, I was going to make it out to Khaos Theory, but my pillow got comfortable to me so I think i'll stay glued to that for the next 12 hours. I'll see you guys next time I miraculously get a Friday night off (never again).

I was the us hisoutensoku god~~~ probably tied with Magister or slightly behind except in hisoutensoku 1.03 where I was prob without doubt the strongest player (my character was stronger than his by a pretty large margin here and I developed her quickly) -- but I don't really play anymore outside of requests.

Also one of the top 2 current iamp players in the US. I won our last netplay tournament but usually Mauve edges me out a bit in casuals.

Neat topic

The only thing I'm arguably "best" at is Streets of Rage 2. In the latest SVC Classics port of the SoR trilogy on XBL/PSN, I'm currently tied for #1 on the leader board for every difficulty (since I'm one of the few people who has managed to max out the score counter at 999999), and last I checked I was 9th on the Time Trial.

SoR2 is one of my favorite games of all time. The way it plays so similarly to fighting games is just awesome to me. At high level, all of the following comes into play:

- All of your normals and attacks

- EXCELLENT spacing

- How to "read" the enemy AI (knowing its patterns or getting it to do what you want).

- Cross up jump ins

- Cross up jump in GRABS (you hit them from the front, but still grapple them from behind)

- Footsies

- Pokes

- DPs (some stronger enemies can actually do unique reversal DPs!)

- Baiting reversals/whiff punishing

- Safe jumps

- Anti-airs

- Hitboxes and "priority" (That probably makes me sound old, ha)

- Meter management (specials cost health--when is it worth taking a little damage as a trade off for something more beneficial?)

- Character strengths/weaknesses (Max, for example, is strong as fuck, but you must overcome his awful speed, especially against Ninjas/Bikers/other fast enemies)

- If you're shooting for high scores, how to most efficiently squeeze the most points out of an enemy. E.g., you could kill that Y.Signal with a single Bear Punch... Or, you could deep jump in elbow drop, front grapple, forward knee, jump Body Slam, walk forward, meaty jump in elbow drop into cross up grapple, jump, then Atomic Drop while mashing attack to abuse the bug where you get that move's point value each time you press attack while performing it and airborne for WAAAAAAY more points.

- Miscellaneous quirky stuff (Max's jab actually has a small hit box directly above him during the startup, which is impossible to hit grounded enemies with so most people don't realize it exists, but it can be used for anti-air. Another example is the "block glitch" where his Thunder Tackle offensive special can be used to deal massive chip damage to enemies who can block).

Plus, I've been playing it for 20 years... My Max is legit, yo. If you have the game you can download one of my replays if you're curious. Or, if you want some co-op...

Other oddball games I'm secretly high tier at:

- Rock Band. I Gold Star'd every song on Expert Guitar in both 1 & 2 (didn't finish it on 3 since that's when I started getting bored). Of course, this isn't as big of a deal now that rhythm band games' 15min is over... Most hardcore players got pretty good by the time the genre started dying out.

- Tetrisphere. I've made it up to and beaten CPU (literally a character that looks like a computer's microchip). He can only be fought after beating all other characters multiple "rounds" (a "round" being one complete cycle through the entire cast of opponents; beat them all once and it starts over at the first enemy who is now harder than before; after doing this for IIRC five times, they'll start putting you against CPU). He is a dirty cheating fucker, lol. YouTube him.

Oh yeah, I forgot I was #1 on some GH2 and GH3 songs, maybe some world tour ones but I was super out of it by then. GH sucks.

I got pretty damn good at Soku before I moved on to other fightans, and I could be considered great at rhythm games and Monster Hunter, given the amount of time I've spent with those.

Besides that, I'm more of a jack of all trades. I can't make myself spend enough time on one game before I move to another unless I enjoy the hell out of it.

Haha, nah Milln. I'm not the best at Worms, but I love the game. But, there are some games that I considered myself to be extremely good at, albeit not the best.

Mario Golf Toadstool Tour - A friend and I had way too much fun with this game in middle/high school. As a result, we constantly had impressive hole-in-one's and eagles during sessions. It's rare, but sometimes I'll pop it in the Wii and play it for a while.

Peggle - Peggle is an awesome puzzle game, and I'm still waiting on a true sequel. I may have been one of the first people to get the XBL achievement for 100% clearing all levels, including DLC. At one point, I'd get a bucket bonus around 90% of the time and could predict the ball movement about 4 or 5 pegs before shooting.

Culdcept Saga (on the 360)- Half monopoly, half TCG. Unfortunately, this game was never big at all in the US, but it's a ton of fun. I collected 3 of every card in the game and played the near-barren wasteland of online multiplayer for a while.

GNT4 - Ah, an awesome Naruto fighting game that never came out in the US. Three of my high school friends imported it, and all of us got very good at it. Well, I took it a bit more seriously and was stupidly good at it. That may have been one of the first fighting games I watched tournament videos for and practiced things constantly in the training mode. The game itself isn't that hard to pick up, which oddly enough, makes it fun. I could effectively use nearly every character. The only real downside to the game was that proration basically didn't exist, but spending 50% meter acted as a "burst" known as a KnJ (which could be baited too).

Finally got around to making mine. I actually lost my list of achievements, it was on my other computer and died with it. This is what I remember:

To reiterate, I was the best Xyrho player in Survival Project, a kMOBA, and rapidly moving toward best overall skill until they shut it down. It was a lot of fun and I understood the game rather well.

For a time I was the dominant LostMagic player, a cool little magic DS Game where you drew your rune combinations to cast different spells and you could take up to 3 packs of monsters with you. My rival was a guy named "Mara" and when I finally took him down, and then consistently trounced everyone else on the internet, I felt so accomplished. After shifting the popular spell/monster combination metagame four times, I moved on. Mara and I became buddies and we went on to do neat things together including take a couple time trials in Battalion Wars Wii.

I've told the story about my racing games. I'm sure my records in all the ones I played are long gone by now, but i'll always hold firm that I'm the best Outrun 2 player, especially after my trip to Canada's Playdium.

Every multiplayer, turn-based, grid-layout, Strategy game that i've played(over fifteen) i've gotten to the top of the charts, gotten bored, and quit. No joke. It's incredibly easy for me to outplay people in these types of games.

Also, on DS, I wasn't the best in Custom Robo Arena but I was a top player and definitely the most proficient user of the Twin Fang Gun as a main weapon.

Games i'd take any money match in:

Tin Pin Slammer

Bust-A-Move

Acceleration of Suguri X Edition

______________ Fourth game I always forget until I see it again.

So, are you a godlike Chess player?

So, are you a godlike Chess player?

Chess is actually a little different. Chess is not fair. White always has an advantage because it goes first and there's no compensation for it. Being able to move your piece first is a big deal. That being said, I haven't played it terribly much, but the times that I have against the people that I have(no one established), it was fun and I came out on top usually.

White's advantage isn't enough to force a win. That's like saying a match-up is unplayable because it's 6-4. If both sides play flawlessly, the match will end in a draw. The whole draw vs w/l thing is a debate in itself, but I don't see how anyone can see chess as particularly unfair when we play fighting games.

Also Star's not telling people that he topped Sonic leaderboards :@

also i'm the reigning champ of starting internet arguments

Actually, it's entirely fair within the fact that, despite that white gets to move first, this can then give black a better idea of what white is aiming for, and move accordingly. And it's not like it's a game of "who gets their pieces out of the start first wins". No matter how many pieces you get away from their initial position to begin with, it can still be turned around by the other player, quite easily within some cases.

Mario Tennis?

I am not going argue opinions versus statistical facts(percentage of wins) but Volpe is correct in his analysis it really is pretty much 6-4 white. And yes that's not fair and I'm allowed to not like it.

You guys will bicker about anything even remotely matchup related. =V

Mario Tennis?

Ohhhhh yeeeaaaah!

All I'm sayin' is the disparity is even more prevalent in fighting games than it is in Chess. True balance is rarely ever achieved in any form of competition.

In chess, it really is more like 5.3-4.7 in white's favor. The advantage is there, but it's not a 6-4 advantage.

Not to mention, as far as I know, a fair amount of chess tournaments force a certain number of moves or shifts of pieces at the start to prevent draws constantly at the highest level. So the advantage probably shifts dramatically based on the start you get.

Can't say for sure though, been a while since I was into chess.

75% meter actually. :P But yeah, GNT4 was awesome. I feel like the high damage was pretty good for the game though, mostly because you have a ton of opportunities to avoid getting hit. The mixups in that game were like.... B->B, dash up throw, or back-turned situations. Though some characters (Temari j.B) were pretty good at forcing those mixups.

That game was fun though, sadly that was the last one that I really enjoyed. The EX series was pretty bad. As was SP. :(

Yeah, the ones after GNT4 were awful. As for high damage, I feel like it actually helped the balance, especially since there were a decent amount of very different characters. Any character could win off of a few good mixups and reads.
