Manta Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Matchup seems to have the potential to be seriously against µ due to that void hakumen makes and the fact he can get in a little faster now with 4C cancels. xD x2 > 236A stills seems good to keep his fat hitbox away.
Innolis Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Haven't played in a while (doubt I'll play BB again honestly) but I would think that getting steins on his back (6D) is still as good a strategy as ever.
Urichinan Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 (edited) Using 6D, 2D, j.6D and j.2D are the best ways to keep Hakumen out. Since the Steins shoot slower this time it's easy to confuse them by placing one or two, using 236D then waiting for it to end then place a few more Steins. From my experience against many, MANY Hakumen's they'll either sit because they think 236D is still going or they'll try to jump out j.C/j.D. So use your 5C and 6C when approaching to keep them at a safe distance. Use empty jumps when up close, this will confuse the Hakumen into thinking your going to use j.C or j.B and they'll try to counter, then you get a free combo. Don't think they'll always do this though, eventually they'll catch on so keep it mixed up. IAD > j.D is also good for confusing the other player, most Mu's tend to get very IAD > j.C friendly and eat a AA or a counter. Using j.D during an IAD will stop her mid-air and then she'll fall at a angle (like a Glide Throw) allowing you to confuse the player with your IAD's. To me I think this matchup is all about trickery with the Steins and using momentum to your advantage. This matchup is really fun and I'll continue to post my findings. C0R Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 This matchup is very not fun for me, I can't do my cool stuff While most Hakumen players try and predict your actions when they use their drive, skilled ones will simply do it on reaction. This means no meaty projectiles allowed, ever, unless you're super cool with laser feint. The 5c > 6c gatling may as well not exist either because 6d will catch Mu clean, even if she is out of range, he's completely invulnerable for the entirety of the recovery. As sad as it sounds the most effective strategy I've found is playing with pokerface SoD, everywhere, because you can always delay it and pick up the level 2/3/4 FC with dash 2b from midscreen with no meter for big damage. If they block it, he can no longer punish with gurren at the range you'll be using it, so no worries, plus he lost a primer or two. Just be wary of Yukkikaze, because of the 27f active window, he can use it after a set distance into your charge animation, and Mu will be forced to finish the attack, no matter what you do, catching the end of the counter's active frames. Then again I've only ever played against Spark, making just about all the advice I have to give specific to his rather unique style and level of play.
cookiehours Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I seem to be having some problems with this matchup. When you mean set steins on his back, do you mean behind him? I've been doing that, but I guess you can't just come marching in on Hakumen either. This match seems like the ultimate test of patience.
bakahyl Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 (edited) Because Hakumen can't dash, he needs to approach Mu by either airdashing or Kishuu. Mu's decent anti-airs prevent him from safely approaching by the air (sometimes you have to bait j.d though), so you can keep hakumen away most of the time. Kishuu does go under some of Mu's normals, so you have to watch out for that. You have to be a little patient, because most of Mu's stein tricks don't work on hakumen and you don't want your 5c pokes countered. But Hakumen's damage is quite low if he is not at close range. I think I play too damn impatient at times. I need to be more patient and observing. That's the only way I'll improve.
