Buh. Yes. Go me for losing track of the original question. x.x

Still, I think the 4k combo in question is practical, valid, and technically 2 charge. :P

Thought I posted this.

You can get 3.7k(4.4k with super) off 2(actually two) charges very easily. 6a->5cc-> typical 22D combo. 6cc->623c->214D->etc. Probably what BJ was thinking of. Not sure I would burn the extra charge for a bit more dmg anyway.

So I studied that Tsubaki Intermediate Combo video that's in the Video topic and I really like the 5BB > 5CC > 623C > j.236D > j.214C(w) > 6CC > jc > j.C > jc > j.CC > 236A > 214C combo. 3.4kish midscreen damage from 1 charge is pretty nice and I can do it consistently. However it doesn't work on all of the cast due to j.214C(w) not whiffing. Does anyone have a complete list of characters that it doesn't work on? I know it doesn't work on Hakumen and Tager and I'm pretty sure it doesn't work on Valk and I couldn't get it to land on Hazama and Bang.

Additionally, I suspect it's possible to go into a 236x > 214x > 22x series after 6C to give better charge time/oki or whatever, but haven't tested it myself. If anyone can confirm this or not, that'd be lovely.

Huh. I may have to try that once it's not too hot in my living room to think of going in there. x.x

I'm 97% sure that ANYTIME you can do a full air combo, you can do 236B > 214B > 22B instead.

Also, Errol, could you write out that combo in full, perchance?

6A->5CC-> 22D-> 6CC->623c->236A(w)->214D->5C(w)C->2CC->22C->5C->2C->236B->214B->22B (3751). tack on 6c super as desired

Very, very character specific and doesn't provide the corner carry you'd want in a 1 charge combo.

It's flashy and fun to use though.

Well.. maybe if you're the one in the corner it'd be good.. But still char specific.

Although.. just doing a simple 5bb->5cc->236d->5bb->5cc->6c->ender probably matches it for damage and better oki then

That combo doesn't work.

Perhaps a mis-notation somewhere?

If you guys are looking for a mid-level one charge combo mid-screen, go for...

5BB > 5CC > 623C > j.214A > j.C > j.236D > j.214A > 6C > 236B > 214B > 22B

Good corner carry, untechable free charge time and works on most characters with relatively easy execution.

The other alternative would be 5B > 2C > 214D > 2CC > IAD combo but that won't work if you hit them during crouch stun.

missing 22c before 6c. that is

5bb->5cc->236d->5bb->5cc->22c->6c->ender

specifically talking about combos to use when you yourself are in the corner

Any chance of some of this clever stuff getting added to the combo compilation?

uh can someone tell me what a characters gatling is?

Cancelling one move into another. Having knowledge of gatlings means knowing which move can cancel into what.

Posted

Technically 'Gatling' is the Guilty Gear term - BB calls it "Revolver Action" (Which is long. :P ). Either way, explanation here. In terms of which of Tsubaki's moves cancel into one another, it's at the bottom of her frame data, here.

Posted

Er, well, A>B>C works for a lot of characters, but it's by no means universal and variants of any given move won't necessarily gatling (No 6B to ANYTHING for Tsubaki, for example.).

So really, if you're going to be serious about a character, learn their Gatlings/Revolver Action data.

What are some if tsubaki's more... advanced mixups outside of 6a, 2b and throw? I saw something that involved j236d and j214d, I think it was a crossup. Also, can she do anything fancy in blockstrings that involve d?

Posted

well 6b is a low she does while standing, alot of people mistake it for the overhead when used in the right places. j236d j214d can crossup sometimes, I think there are setups for it but they're mostly character specific iirc. personally I just use it to get in and have a little free oki in certain situations. She has charge cancels with d which are worth using if you can keep the opponent from pressing buttons. Mixing up between 22c and charge cancels works fairly well. I use to love charge cancel -> kara-throw but I'm moving away from it now.

QFT. Any Tsubaki match you watch can help in one way or another.

I dunno it's like people only concentrate on the very good players.

Back in CS1, I used to watch for example Stentatsu and Dusk Thanatos and I learnt alot.

If players only do this they will very likely be missing on other things they can pick up from watching others.

I can only imagine the amount of stuff you learned NOT to do from me >_>
