loop Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 is there any chance of countering/blocking hakus Drive? It would be pretty overpowererd if there isn't any possibility... or am I missing anything?
Tari Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) If Haku catches you with one of his counters, the followup move is unblockable. That said... - You can throw Haku out of his counters. You get a throw counter from this, so Haku can't break the throw. - Each counter only covers mid attacks plus either high or low attacks (but not both; as in, if it counters high attacks, you can hit him with a low). - Each counter has a notable amount of recovery on whiff. You can just wait and hit him afterwards. Edited December 1, 2011 by Tari

S: Makoto, Valk A+: Hazama, Noel, Litchi = Jin, Tao = Carl A: Rachel, Tsubaki = Bang, Mu=Lambda, Ragna = Hakumen = Plat = Arakune B: Tager Some of these placements seem odd, mostly in A. What makes you put Tsubaki so high, while Platinum and Arakune are so low?
Spud Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 (edited) Most people agree that Tsubaki is solid enough. Platinum has big holes in her offense and limited defense options. Arakune is really not so scary once you have a grasp of the matchup. Just my guess/two cents. Edited December 4, 2011 by Spud
Fallacy Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 (edited) Yeah, Tsubaki is good in this version and arakune's damage is lower. From the perspective of a Tsubaki player, Platinum is ass. Edited December 4, 2011 by Fallacy grammar

AchedSphinx Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I have a question. I have always wondered how someone overcomes a threshold in a game like this. For instance, say you're an intermediate player, almost good enough to compete in tournaments, and when you do make that jump you lose consistently. How would a person overcome that jump in skill level? To me, it seems that it would be more than practice, more like a deeper understanding of the meta game, but how would one grasp something like that after barely reaching intermediate level. Sorry if my question is a bit confusing. But, LK, how did you handle that? No matter how incredibly good a person is, I still think there was a time when they weren't as good. I feel that I could practice and practice and practice, however I don't see an increase in skill. If I wanted to at least make a solid showing at a tournament, what should I do?
Lord Knight Posted December 7, 2011 Author Posted December 7, 2011 i feel as if im playing litchi wrong, my pressure is predictable, i panic way to easy so if i try to do something diffident and start to choke up, i go back to what they can already predicted(for example when the staff is set i have a habit of jumping before i launch it). i can say im okay with combos but once i feel pressured, i do nothing but block, which u may think its okay im sapose to block but its to the point were im cornered im not throwing my dp or bursting at all (i once when through a whole round blocking and lost and i still had both bursts), then i get grabbed (which im bad at reacting to even if its a purple one >.>) as for the bursting, im either i found that lately ive been bursting too early in the match or too late. to get to the point, besides keep practicing, what can i do that i can stay calm when blocking so i can get out of it easier and get better with litchi Play more, get more experience, review your matches and identify your specific errors, try to fix them, play games, repeat xN. On an additional note, the bad things that you remember the easiest (as in, stuff you can remember specifically without having to watch the match) are probably the things you should attend to first. I can't remember if you've answered this before or not, but: How does your offline mindset differ from your netplay mindset, if at all? It doesn't. I try to only play with people with good connections, so I can play as if I was online. However, I can say I play differently in tournament than in casuals. Can you teach me how to dougie? Sure. is there any chance of countering/blocking hakus Drive? It would be pretty overpowererd if there isn't any possibility... or am I missing anything? In addition to those 3 previous stated answers, it is possible to attack the drive while still being out of the range of the counter attack. how do i win against noel? No matter what you think about the opponent's strategy is and how well you know it, just turtle. Some of these placements seem odd, mostly in A. What makes you put Tsubaki so high, while Platinum and Arakune are so low? Tsubaki has one of the best AA's in the game. She's extremely fast, and once she gets 1 charge, she changes the way the neutral game is played quite drastically. Her pressure is good and safe, and her damage is good and she corner carries well. Plat is good in theory, but she has some holes in her game, mostly because of items. Items are powerful, but you can't control which one you get, and your opponent always knows from the get-go. Her corner carry is pretty good, but the damage is generally low, and you have to sacrifice corner carry for good midscreen oki most of the time. Her potential was high, but again, was blocked because of items being random. She doesn't have much in the ways of reversals besides situational bat and having 50 meter. Arakune is good, but just the fact that he has to maybe curse you two times to win hurts his overall game plan. LK How can I improve myself as a player? AKA not get blown up on recorded matches. AKA be good at fightan games? I know we talked about this already, but I want to reiterate it for other people reading this thread - You'll eventually reach a level where improvement is dependent on yourself. Again, play, win or lose, review, fix, repeat. As you get better as a player, there's going to be less and less to fix, but each insight, revelation or discovery you might make about your game or the game in general with have a much stronger impact than when you have to do things like "use this combo" etc. I can't actually tell someone who are a pretty high level exactly how to get better, that depends on yourself. LK why am I so free lol? I'd say your Litchi is too disorganized. She's a character that requires structure by nature. For example, your Daisharin setups make no sense, you don't seem to understand her combo routes fully, you seem to handle characters the same rather than individually... etc LK is Litchi really like Ken? :O No, not at all. I have a question. I feel that I could practice and practice and practice, however I don't see an increase in skill. If I wanted to at least make a solid showing at a tournament, what should I do? Again, it involves playing a lot. I played a lot against top players and in tournaments to get the kind of mind to improve myself and reach my own personal goals. You can practice a lot, but if you don't put your practice into games, you won't get the experience you need to understand the game at a higher level, and in turn improve as a player.
A.X.I.S. Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I'd like to go a bit further in detail with Hakumens counters by saying if he is out of range to grab you when he catches anything then he is safe. Another detail is that the grab is not immediate and it will grab you whether you are in the air or not, so please keep that in mind before triggering a counter.
MrViceTaicho Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Yo lk. When should i be using high jump chun and vs who? Is it safe...?
MrViceTaicho Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Yeah im not good with number.. :$ I know its not good using often but its much faster and cover more range but nobody really punished me after doing it. And im always being compare to you.we need to play someday. =)
Lord Knight Posted December 7, 2011 Author Posted December 7, 2011 Well, tk chun (as in, fastest, closest to the ground air chun) is +3 on block, as far as using it in neutral, I don't think it's very useful, but it is something to be aware of.
Guardian Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 And im always being compare to you.we need to play someday. =) ooo! ooo! That was me! I said it! I sure did!
