isnt the bbct dvd basically replicated in a hands on way in cs through tutorial mode and challenge mode?

Sorta. I think the community should try to produce the same thing for AC+.

l've seen a couple of videos that showed cs1 -> cs2 changes... but yeah... thats about it.

it was a great idea too, and it probably wouldn't be too late if it was continued since evo might have newbies wanting to watch/learn the ropes.

but eh

For content, I think it would be a good idea to just copy the kind of content released by Cross Counter/CC Asia and LevelUpYourGame.

LevelUpYourGame - Tekken - In-depth Law stuff = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aV8tQRirIzM

Cross Counter Asia - Match Analysis = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQo5YTybmJU

Or even the "funny" content like "Excellent Adventures" or "Running Sets" that Cross Counter puts up.

I don't even really play SF or Tekken, but I'll still sometimes watch those kinds of videos.

The in-depth character videos would be aimed toward the hardcore players because they would go over EVERYTHING that's important to know, in detail. While at the same time it would also help new players for pretty much the same reason and give them some solid ground work besides Challenge Mode and just reading some threads for information.

Match analysis videos would provide the insight towards actual tournament level matches (hopefully), so people can get an idea out what kind of reads players are making or what they are thinking at any given moment.

The "funny" content let's the players show some of their personality as well as have fun with each other. That can appeal to the casual players because everyone knows people like to relate to "famous" players and feel like they are getting to know them on some remote level. It also can appeal to the hardcore players or just the people who already know those players because it's just funny to mess around sometimes.

Like I said, I don't play SF really but I consistently watch Excellent Adventures just because it is usually funny as shit and Gootecks and Mike Ross are funny. Same thing with the Running Sets when they did Marvel with Fanatiq, I don't mess around with Marvel, but I still watched that and it was hilarious. The in-depth character stuff would definitely help out and that'd be the no frills content for the hardcore players.

That stuff obviously works at bringing people in to play the game or AT LEAST watch and check the game out. It's just a matter of getting some respected players who ACTUALLY ENJOY playing the game and taking the time to put stuff like that together and on camera.

To all you commentators, stop bitching about Noel and Makoto. PLEASE! It's so damn annoying every video. In most if not all of these, their opponent just gets outplayed and the match-up is pretty even. Instead maybe commentate about useful things in the game maybe? Maybe this will help some more newcomers to the game.

Take Day[9] for example for Starcraft2. He doesn't bitch about certain units and how they are OP, he gives you strategies on how to overcome these. So maybe commentate how people can avoid being 2D'd the whole game.

Just my 2cents.

"What do ya do if yer Lit chi?"

So why again is this thread everyone bitching about commentary?

Anyway, I think we can get more exposure if we tried. I emailed SRK last night the Evo2011 BBCS teams top 8 and it's already up.

Because apparently commentary is the be all, end all.

Nice job btw :D

I think you mean:

A) Because it's the internet, and it is the nature of threads to be 'derailed'

B) Because it reflects on the community, so it is, in fact, relevant to a thread about... trying to get more notice for the community.

Rocket science. This isn't it.

Honestly, discussion on this thread just brings to life the problems already wrong with the community that the people in the know have already figured out.

The people that will change this community for the better will do it by their actions and not their words.

If they don't care about the game they wouldn't be watching it to get to hear the commentary...

I don't really know that that is true. I watched several games of games I don't really have much interest in because they were "what was on" during EVO.

Certainly, there are people who might be CURIOUS but be put off by the commentary. But then, I SAID that several pages ago, so... done. :P

I can see that my sarcasm was lost over the internet. :p

Anything that is said reflects something about the community really. I know some of my friends who came on here to see what was up, since they're interested in BB, was put off by how argumentative people seemed to be in general. They kinda liked NPG though heh.

Thanks. I'll work on some more stuff when I have time/am less lazy.

Airk- I don't think spending 5 pages bitching about what's good commentary and who's e-peen commentary is better "gets more notice for the community". I think actually working on projects does more. But that may just be me. :v:

If you actually want to work on things, then I'm sure no one would really mind.

we should put more vids on the front page

srk has evo teams on the front page, lol

Polka weren't you thinking of making an article on the EVO BB teams top 8 for the front page?

I saw the playlist in the video thread and there were some pretty good matches there. I have to remember to fav them.

Lol. I sent a very short thing to SRK. It was at 3am though, so it wasn't very good. I can make a proper article and post it on the front page of DL.

And done.

LK- I asked earlier on the staff forum if I should make one, but no one said anything so... :psyduck:

Perhaps we could do a "Matches of the Week" thing pertaining to recorded online play/tournament play to showcase some of the known and unknown talent and better play. It would give the front page some constant activity every week. Secondly, it would allow players to have a steady source of videos to watch and draw proper fighting strategies from.

I'm just thinking that if we put a lot of the good videos and information that's in character subforums on one centralized page (the front page), that would give it some major purpose. I'm not saying take away a lot from the more important sections of the forums, but throw up some things from the stickied threads like important tournament dates or the scene interviews like Polka had in mind. I know I'm probably reiterating what someone already said but I hope not.

who would be in charge of this? they'd have to be a strong player, unbiased, have free time, etc etc

there are lots of good ideas in this thread but hardly anyone seems willing to step forward to make them happen

I know this, I watched both the vlog of your house and DodgeObelisk and the matchup against MysteryKage.

It would require people to send in videos and to be actively involved and comfortable in this. And a lot of this is being done or has been in the past but not put on the front page. As for volunteering, I'll do whatever thing that I possibly can with the budget that I have to help. Skills are still under question by some people but I'm game for a good number.
