We can all agree hes better in one aspect, his 5A is a pain to get hit by now cause with Magnetism, Tager can get 60+ meter in the combo and still get GF oki :3 I'm excited purely for the sake of having a 5A that DOES something now :3

I doubt Tager will improve very much. Most of his changes are nice, but they don't really address his biggest issues, i.e. zoners. Chargeable B sledge may help since people won't know the exact timing on it anymore. Then again, the fastest possible B sledge is still 35+ frames which is easily stuffed by anything that isn't a projectile. Also the magnetism pull on AC doesn't seem to have changed, and it's always been awful at catching characters who can control their movement in the air (Hazama and Rachel). I bet he is still going to have bad match-ups against Hazama/Mu/Lambda/Rachel/etc.

Yeah thats obvious cause its very rare to see a grappler in a fighting game that has the ability to get in on zoning characters effectively so thats a given. Patience is out biggest tool to deal with that or else we'll just to learn a different character to deal with Zoners :3

It's fine if the zoning chars are tough matchups, but then we should have advantage against rushdown chars...and I'm not seeing that so far vs ragnas, makotos etc in CSX vids. >.>

it's true i guess but they still need to do something about tager vs hazama. I can't help but feel that match up got worse.

did you watch the same videos as me? those tagers vs ragnas were horrible... letting them do 3 deadspikes in a row and just blocking for the sake of blocking... I mean come on at least try a sledge and be amazed that it can go through and either give you a CH combo or at worst he'll block...

and this tager doing 5B at neutral against Noel is wishing to get 2D'd (which is what happens of course)

vids are fun to watch but seriously I am not impressed by the Japanese players so far in terms of neutral games and matchup knowledge

Hey speaking of Tager and bad matchups, anyone seen the latest Yumura vs Shadow(Relius)? It looks pretty horrible on Tager's side. Like, wishing for CT Nu's return bad. Ignus's everything is too good at zoning (You have to super-jump and j.C to get over her "buzzsaw that takes upthe screen" move is especially annoying) or pushing you away. It's like Hazama in that he can just get a life lead, then sit back and laugh as you try to push through the wall that is Ignus. Though from what I've seen of Relius vs other people, they key to beating on Relius is to just completely disrespect him. Sledging through Ignus seems to work great, but your timing has to very cause while you're busy with pushing through Ignus, Relius can just come in and kick you in the shins.

Ignis can absorb Spark Bolts just like Carl's Nirvana too, and Relius's Medoli (his spin of his pimp cape) craps all over Tager's Ds. Medoli in general looks nightmarish for Tager. Even if you get through all that and Relius is blocking, Relius's Dead Angle throws you back to the other side of the screen. Have fun with this one, guys. Looks like another "Get life lead, sit on ass" kind of match.

By the way, if he gets cute with Rhapsody (He will,it pushes you back, but in case he tries to rush you down on top of that, like you have the life lead on him or something), remember. You can do this.

No one else believed me when I said it'd be an unfortunately match up ...but not that bad, Ignis is only good midcombo and cross-up. You notice Yumura was hitting her out of those attacks and she is made of paper and burns through her fuel like an SUV makes throwing out randomly more of a troll tactic. Keep pushing through her with Sledge. Led Ley (not medoli) does screw us out of mag's pull I think we should learn how to punish that.

Quick question - with the (huge) buffs to 5A, does Tager get anything off tagging someone who tries to jump out of GF oki with it? I saw airCH 5A > 5C > Collider > Stuff in one video, but is that only on counterhit?

I think vs air, 5A can combo into 5B normally... but obviously they have to be low enough for 5B to hit. Which they might be if you catch them just as they jump out. I'm not sure.

Tager gets that. After gadget finger, 5A will actually hit people before they can even get airborne (except for litchi, does she still have a 3f jump?).

Litchi haven't had a 3F jump since CS2.

From Gadget you can do awesome combos.

Even from weak punch you can get gauge like a devil, and you can 720 the guard point of voltec charge!

With the increased gauge gain his [continued attacks?] is also powered up, is he finally a strong character!?

Having 720 come out of guard point is an interesting idea. Now it seems like if you have meter you can just do voltic charge, and if they hit you during it you can just spin the stick and either hit A or C depending on if you think they're going to jump. And having meter won't be a problem, since Tager generates it so fast now. I'm really excited, why can't CSE be out yet.
