Yukiko's specialty in P4 was magic all the way, and she certainly wasn't pulling Anji or Hakuowlo crap with her fan. It'd be kinda silly if she WASN'T a zoner imo.

Well excuse me for dreaming and trying to get interested in the game, I shall just shut up over here.

EDIT - Another thing that has been bugging me that I haven't seen mentioned...

The game takes place 2 weeks after the events of 4, yet everyone is using their base Persona, what's up with that?

The one reason I think that's like that (and why Aegis has her final Persona) is simply because all the Persona evolutions (baring Teddie and Yu, which creates another question) were technically optional to get. Now whether Teddie like Aegis will have his final evolution since it's story related. Now why Yu has Izanagi and not Izanagi-no-Okami is a bit of a mystery, maybe it'll be chalked up to gameplay mechanics in that he can freely pick Persona and might of just chose to use Izanagi or perhaps even that the True Ending might not possible be used even. For sure the game follows the Normal ending, but I know there have been hints

(such as fog still being seen in the TV world) that could suggest that maybe Izanami was never defeated

.

Why they would chose this while the game remains canon isnt to clear, and I could just be looking to deep into this, but still, a bunch of this is a bit weird in a lot of ways and won't really be known for a while.

months. not weeks. and the argument is that the protag didn't cannonically maximize all of the s. links.

i don't remember whether or not mr. narukami should have izanagi no ookami or not though

edit: nevermind didn't read the post above me :sweatdrop:

i think it's just low video quality that makes it look like she's losing a diamond. i still think they're just round counters.

You win, that's the case. Weird that it just disappeared as soon as she got hit, though! Like, on the exact frame. But yeah, it's painfully clear in the HD version that they're just round counters.

I did a little write up on all the seen mechanics, that was definetly the round counter (as much as that low quality vid wanted to make us believe otherwise). I wish we had gotten to see how the Persona gauge (the blue squares) worked and drained though, from the one screenshot of Yu and Aegis it definetly is connected to the Persona when Izanagi gets greyed out and he shouldn't be able to summon it, yet not once in the trailer, even during the part Yu and Izanagi attack together did it ever show signs of moving. It'll be nice to see a non debug build at TGS though

I personally thought that the theme sounds like a generic epic anime song (still enjoyable nonetheless), but I'd rather hear music that's more in the line of the Persona games.

That sounds a lot like P3 music (battle theme). Didn't play much P4 but I think P4 had similar music. Definitely seems to be style of Shoji Meguro.

I also noticed this game has chip damage but the health is turned blue, it remains as the Protagonist has this before, during, and after his DP which Yukiko blocks and in return gains some blue health. This is probably recoverable in some way.

that clip with P4Protag and Yukiko is too short to know if she got that blue from chip damage or from something else beforehand. I think you're jumping to conclusions there.

When Chie does her super you can clearly see her get some blue health/ lose some yellow health, so it's probably a cost required to perform certain attacks (just like the skills that cost HP to perform in the rpgs). Whether it's recoverable or not... i don't think there's any evidence that shows this in action, but my guess is you're right on that part.

Persona 4 The Ultimate In Mayonaka Arena

I figured that it'd be nice to compile what we've seen so far into a nice, neat post.

Warning: This is all DEBUG gameplay, so somethings may be incorrect or changed in the final build

Will update as new info comes in.

Confirmed Characters:

Yu Narukami (ie: Protagonist)

Yosuke Hanamura

Chie Satonaka

Yukuko Amagi

Kanji Tatsumi

Teddie (Bear)

Aegis

Customization - HERE

Color Priset - Changes Color

Character - ?

Persona - ?

Megane - Glasses!

Navigation - Possibly stage pick, or button layout.

Mechanics:

Game UI: HERE

Persona Bar/Gauge/Meter (credits to DevilTrigger for this one) - Probably dictates your persona summoning and how often you can do it. If you can't, your persona is greyed out (like shown in the screenshot)

Special Bar/Gauge/Meter - Used for One More, Special Attacks, etc. Bar increases from 100 to 150 when at low health (more on that below)

Burst Icon - Probably similar to Blazblue or Guilty Gear, but could be entirely different. Most likely recharges (HERE and HERE)

Round Counters :toot:

Character Specific:

Yukiko - Has an "Agi Meter." HERE

Chie - Has a "Kung-Fu Kick Meter" for some of her moves. HERE

Game Mechanics:

Burst - Recharges (See above)

One More - A cancel that costs meter (1, 2, and 3)

Come Back Mechanic - When someone is brought to a low percentage of health, they're given the capacity to hold 150 meter instead of 100 (Before and After)

Blue Health - (?) Uses health for some special moves. Health used becomes blue health (HERE). Recovers blue health over time if not damaged (ie: SF4 focus health regen)

Status Ailments - So far we've only seen Tentrafoo (from Yosuke HERE)

Complete Edit: After studying it again, I have a much better analysis not just based off screen shots. Red health is just showing combo damage, in retrospect, not sure why I thought otherwise lol. Blue health is triggered by any move that uses some health to attack. If I had to guess, I'd liken it in a sense to the health you get after absorbing an attack with FA in SFIV, likely you regenerate either naturally (or maybe it has to do with the Persona, given the lost health and P.gauge color match) or there is certain actions that would restore it, but any blue health not recovered by the time you get hit would be lost and the combo damage would begin where it had reached recovery wise.

Good shit Kronk.

I wonder if those are RCs or FRCs. Not sure how I feel about RCs costing 25%.

I'm fairly sure they dont just cost 25% meter, I think this is just another example of debug mode considering the bar instantly recharged to 50%

Actually if you do the math that cancel cost 37 meter, not 25. 37 is 150/4 rounded down, so it kind of makes sense if they're basing the model on the low life meter max value, which is 150.

Low life mode looks like it kicks in at at least 1/3 HP. We never really see anyone at half, and when Yu is introduced he starts beating on Chie at ~1/3 HP in low mode. Low mode looks like it kicks in when the player with low life recovers, not precisely when they reach the threshold.

After I made that post actually I went back and saw it was 37 meter, but then again I just think its more DEBUG/training weirdness, I'm personally waiting for TGS before I accept its 37, thats just such an odd number lol. Of course if its based on 25% like you said.....ugh, why cant the game just have 100 and leave it at that, figuring out the math is annoying especially with DEBUG mode =x

The entire tournament is a marketing ploy.

The last boss is Tanaka.

I doubt Adachi will be the antagonist, seeing as how this takes place two months after P4 and the game is canon and

Adachi is in prison and actually repentant.

You underestimate the power of plot devices.

It would be cool to see him in the game, whether or not he's the main antagonist.

I thought the plot takes place 2 years after P4 or was that a mistranslation ?

EDIT: yeah just re-read the blog it was a mistranslation lol

Here's hoping by "Persona customization" they mean picking between a character's starting and awakened Persona. Would be a lot cooler to see being able to pick between Tomoe and Suzuka Gongen or Jiriya and Susano'o rather than just picking recolors.
