They have answered most of the shit you asked earlier read the whole thread!!

Hate to sound like a snobby forum kid but its there

Read 78 pages of text to answer 3 short questions that you could've answered right there instead of being snobby? :\

hello people, im new to the relius forums, anyway jus a quick couple of questions for people with the game,

hows is mid screen combos lookin either damage or corner carry?,

i kno carl can have some good pressure is his the same,

and last but not least mix up how does that fair to the rest of the cast,

thx in advance n happy gaming

I kinda stopped paying attention to Relius to focus on my Carl, but I'll try my best to answer your questions (anyone else can step in and correct me).

His midscreen damage isn't amazing, but it seems ok (maybe 3k avg?). He can launch his opponents with Id Lauger, but it's not on par with someone like Litchi or Rachel at all.

His pressure is different from Carl's, you're not trying to sandwich your opponent, I don't think you can with Ignis (as far as I know). It's more like he has strong pressure with Ignis and he's trying to mixup while using Ignis as cover or some unblockable setups for oki. I don't really know how great his mixup is but it doesn't seem amazing, not as complex as Carl's is basically all I can say since I don't know many characters. At this point, it doesn't look like there's many gimmicks to him bu t he seems to have good corner pressure and he fairs well against zoners and rushdown characters alike.

Video please.

I'll see if I can get one up sometime today or later this week. I personally don't have capture equipment so I'll have to try and ask a couple of ppl to assist.

What no donkey show captured? Hella disapointed pastey. Nice vid though. :3

I added some edits and annotations to the vid for further clarification. I hope this helps. Finding REALLY tricky stuff with this character is kinda challenging. I'll post up any other good findings if I come across some.

I missed midscreen 22D x N so much from CS1 Tsubaki.

NOW I HAVE A REPLACEMENT.

Ok after some testing, I found that my initial thoughts were wrong; he can fuzzy most of the cast with j.C pretty consistently, but some people are more difficult than others, and it requires 50% meter to do.

impossible: tao, platinum;

highly difficult: litchi, noel, rachel, arakoon;

normal: everyone else

I almost put litchi under impossible, but if you do j.C as low to the ground as possible, then do another j.C, it can fuzzy her. She's definitely the most difficult out of the cast though. If in the corner, you can do the following combo:

j.C>rapid>j.C>5B>3C>236C>214A>6C>214A>5C(2)>j.C>j.8/9D>j.C>j.8/9D>j.236C>j.214B>land>5C(2)>4D>3C~

This is a similar combo that's in the jp relius tutorial. You can end with either super, or j.5D for unsummon into tech traps.

Relius deep jC > rising jC is not a fuzzy.

This isn't a fuzzy. It's not an instant overhead either. It's not even a tight blockstring.

A fuzzy is when you're blocking low, but instead of having your regular crouching hitbox you retain your standing hitbox from the deep jump-in so that you can be hit easier with a rising normal.

What you have isn't a fuzzy, and Valk's mix-up isn't a fuzzy either. They're both an instant-over-head, but the difference is Valk's is actually good.

When I tested it like your video, I could: jump, DP, and 5A/2A him out of the start-up of jC. There's a really big gap in between the two hits. A real fuzzy you can't do any of this because there is no gap. You're forced to block.

I hope I'm not coming off as a dick trying to tell you guys what a fuzzy is. This term has been used a lot of these boards, and most of the time it's used wrong. I'm just trying to get you to understand something.

Also, I encourage everyone to test out things that people post (if you have the same already that is). I was totally wrong with my armor tests because I missed one critical thing. People would've believed my misinformation without a second thought. When people start exploring mixu-ps, oki options/setups, and option selects, it would be awesome if we put some extra work into testing these things to see what they win/lose/trade to. I'm doing it right now with my own ideas. Once I flesh them out I'll post them here. I hope that once I do post them that people double-check.

5B > 3C > 2D > [Dash > 3C > 2D] xN

It's 6D not 2D.

And that combo is silly.

No worries, man. I don't think you're coming off as a dick, but rather are helping us figure out our character. It was a minor fail on my part earlier in the thread when I was testing for fuzzy setups and posted it before I tested to see what the opponent could do as opposed to afterwards. Otherwise I wouldn't have posted it at all, but at least it started a discussion to see if Relius had any fuzzy options.

I agree. There's no better way to breakdown a character then to test every aspect of them you can think of. In this case, your curiosity lead the entire forum into trying to find a fuzzy setup. Without that, it could have been months before anyone even tried to find a setup.

Oh the wonders of discussion.

On a different note, I am going to be able to play Relius this Sunday. I know most people have already imported the game but if anyone would like me to post some first impressions on how he deals with certain characters or just want me to test some stuff out then please tell me. I want to try and do all I can to help out.

You can feel free to post your impressions but for matchups it be best if you don't speak on it with only a day of experience. Not trying to come off rude but there isn't anything we have to request of people to test that we can't do ourselves. If a new setup comes up that someone posts then feel free to test and post any finds on it. Multiple players have imported and been investing weeks of time already on him. Enjoy your time learning and playing him. Figure out new combos, and setups is primary atm.

No worries you don't come off as rude at all! Yeah I realise that most people can already test stuff already which is why I just wanted clarification on whether or not I can help out with testing and the like. So thanks for the green light.

Oh and don't worry, I am not planning on writing up whole matchups based up on a days worth of experience, but I may drop in a few surface level impressions seeing as we usually have a nice variety of characters at our meet-ups.

Liking the level of quality on the technical discussion thread's layout.

And that combo is silly.

Only if by silly you mean 10/10, would troll with again

In fact, gonna change my user title to that. Needed a new troll combo to put there for CS:EX.

Thanks dude :yaaay:

Just so we are on the same page. I am not saying you can make a new thread for impressions. Keep it in the General Discussion.

Liking the level of quality on the technical discussion thread's layout.

Thanks, it was a experiment to see if I could even remake a wiki style layout on the forum. Going to add in the rest of the layout tonight.

For real, what are Relius' glaring weaknesses? I'm looking forward to play with him because he looks interesting, But the only thing I have seen as a glaring weakness so far is how much he relies on Ignis for damage. But that was obvious.

Enlighten me.

From what I've seen myself:

He's not good on defense

He has bad air normals

He has no mixup or rushdown without Ignis

His moves don't connect well mid-screen

Ignis dies very quickly

Without Ignis is damage is low

His overheads are slow

His lows have bad proration
