Kiba Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 214D OTG late tech punish. Very odd, not sure why it worked, but can't argue with the results. But this is exactly why it worked, because they teched late ;p Also my fav match was against the Ragna. There was so much disrespect on both parts!
Shruikon Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Konan gives no fucks. Oh okay, makes sense. Man, I sure wish I could give no fucks.
pktazn Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 For a serious answer no one can really say for sure why they're dropping combos or shortening it unless you ask them since really they're the only ones who know (or don't lol). Possible reasons: tourney nerves (it was the biggest BB tourney ever), they have a plan or they just simply drop it for no reason or something else entirely.
Errol Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 simple answer: cut short combos to prevent opponent from gaining 50 heat.I'll pretty much always do this against Lambda, Hazama, Valk, etc in the corner.

BatousaiJ Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Ya, I caught that at jourdal's channel by chance. It was glorious.
TheGreatReptar Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 (edited) I love how Kuresu was using the 22B drop technique I ended up discovering the other week on accident. All those blue beat 22Bs are actually timed so that if they whiff, the oppenent eats a meaty 5A, which people are more prone to trying to hit buttons since you've just whiffed something in their face. Then if the opponent just doesn't tech, you get the extra untech time for charge or 6A/2B oki. Edited May 5, 2012 by TheGreatReptar

Errol Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 236a(w)>22d for spacing is cool, hadn't really thought about doing it before.

BatousaiJ Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 He's pretty excellent. Also, Mugen > 214D burst bait is glorious no matter how many times I see it.

Kiba Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 This is exactly what PK and I were talking about ages ago. That PSR doesn't necessarily reflect how good a player is. If we followed Ginseng's rule ages back, this Tsubaki would not have been regarded! I would very much like to add that Tsubaki to the list of notable players, which is why I'd like a name. Ha!
Errol Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 You'd like to add Konan to the list of notable players? He's already there dude. Also, the jbb combo on Bang gives me confirmation of what I was seeing. You can't do it on him without doing jbb>jcc. the jc hits too high. so it's worse, but workable.

You can bust out mugen in situations where you think they might burst and that in itself acts as the bait that gives you all the time in the world to 214D afterward or block even but that's not ideal/stylish. Shoutouts to not using names and signature colors to represent yourself~ I'd guess it was a team color thing perhaps.

BatousaiJ Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 First you want the name and now you don't. I'm confused. He's calling you a damn dirty liar, Error. You just gonna take that, brah?
Airk Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry during the final round of that Valk match. It's like both players just came to some sort of tactic agreement not to block ANYTHING and instead to just fly wildly around the screen. I almost snorfed my tea when Konan just decided to stop blocking in the middle of Sturm Wolf. Edit: But anyway: Konan's movement is SO GOOD. I wish I could just internalize that. He can keep his amazing sense of how far everything reaches, but I want to be able to move like that.

Not blocking Valkenhayn and DPing/mashing/whatever makes you about as likely to get hit as blocking him, sooooooooo
Airk Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Not blocking Valkenhayn and DPing/mashing/whatever makes you about as likely to get hit as blocking him, sooooooooo Yes yes, but the same can't be said for why the Valk player ALSO wasn't blocking. :P Plus, there's really no reason to EVER stop blocking in the MIDDLE of blocking Sturm Wolf. PARTICULARLY if your opponent doesn't have any heat to RC with.
