The thing is, I have a genuine desire to play, have fun, get better, and be a part of the community. I just feel so incompetent. Do you guys think maybe some guys just plateau at scrub.

So long as you're willing to train, learn, and challenge yourself often, you can get as good as you want. And "scrub" doesn't necessarily mean poorly skilled btw, it's defined by many top players as a mindset where someone is holding themselves back through artificial rules (I think, it's been a while and I'm pretty much just paraphrasing Sirlin at this point).

And honestly, you can't even be mad at being a scrub right now, you're a fucking beginner, you can't see results right away. You don't know every character enough to know what their overheads look like yet, you can't react to an overhead if you don't know it's an overhead. My point is: Just keep playing, it took me 6 months to get as good as Lumin is now.

I try to apply that philosophy with everything I do. My problem is that I hear this "talent" word thrown around. People saying stuff like "maybe this isn't for you". I'm like screw that, I'll decide what's for me, but I also like being honest with myself. I'll keep at it though.

I'm also new and not very good, but like the way I see it is that even if I never get better at the game, as long as i continue to play it one day I'll be the only one still playing and therefore the best. Ofc I'd much rather just get good, but whenever I get really discouraged I tell myself that.
