Achtzehn Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 (edited) Hey there dustloop, I know that probably not that many of you have imported it and are waiting on the american release, so until then some of us (mainly myself) are mindfucked at what some of the stuff in abyss mode does. I wanted to create this thread to try and gather the info for abyss mode until the english release, since by then this will be unnecessary since everythings description will be in english. So I'll start off with what I have gathered so far. Basic outline of abyss mode- There are three modes: Depth 100 (play till depth 100, easy difficulty, no stat boosts to enemies, easy AI), Depth 500 (play till depth 500, normal difficulty, +5 to all stats for enemies, harder AI), Depth 999 (play till depth 999, hard mode, +10 to all stats for enemies, very difficult AI), Depth Infinity (play all the way through abyss mode, until depth 99,999, essentially unlimited mars mode of abyss, enemy stats increase quickly as depth does, hardest AI every 20 depths you face a powered up enemy, defeating it allows you to continue on and choose a powerup. every 100 depths you have the option to take your winnings and exit abyss mode If you lose in abyss mode your reward is left on the next 100 marker in the depths (if you die at depth 334 you need to get to depth 400 to reclaim your reward) As the depth increases the AI will get smarter, as well as past depth 400 you start to see higher stat boosts to enemies as well as unlimited characters. One last tidbit before I start listing powerups and their properties, you can unlock character specific powerups by clearing abyss mode once per character on easy mode (depth 100 basically). For now I'm gonna list what powerups I know and what they do, feel free to point out any errors or post changes and I'll correct this post. Stat boosts: ATK - Boosts damage dealt by attacks DEF - Boosts health and decreases damage taken HET - Increases amount of meter you start with each round as well as increases meter gain SPD - Increases movement speed, as well as at certain levels adds an extra air option Powerups: Auto heal (any level) - ambiently restores health during matches? (haven't used feel free to confirm if you want) Blood sucker (any level) - your attacks steal health like ragna's drive moves. Heat recover (any level) - increased meter gain? (never used this, feel free to confirm if you want) saving rapid (any level) - decreases cost of RCs does not apply to supers (higher levels lower the cost more) human fortress - cannot be guard crushed free barrier - can never run out of barrier extra burst (any level) - an added burst (I assume higher levels mean more bursts) super burst - any burst you do is automatically a gold burst revenger (any level) - your attacks do more damage depending on how much health you have left (less health = more damage) berserker (any level) - increased attack power at the cost of health (you lose health for every move you do that's blocked or hits) maze walker (any level) - increases the rate at which you descend the depths in abyss mode Colors: Red - a red outline like the challengers in abyss mode Black - A pitch black flaming aura Silver - A metallic, light silvery aura Gold - A Gold, light aura (AKA DAT SUPER SAIYAN SWAG) Character specific powerups: Ragna: Red blood sucker - increased health stealing on drive moves? (needs confirmation) Jin: Maximum blizzard - removes the freeze count from jin's D moves (can refreeze in combos without meter and forever) Noel: Bolverk's bullet - Increases C and D attacks projectile level? (needs confirmatoin) Tager: Power magnetic force - opponent starts the match magnetized and is permanently magnetized Litchi: Dragon club - Damage increases based on opponents stat boosts? (needs confirmation) Arakune: Crimson party - opponent starts the match cursed and is permanently cursed Bang: Ikaruga spike - Unlimited nails Hakumen: Auto magatama - Faster generation of meter Lambda: Heavy gravity seed - Opponent is pretty much unable to move horizontally at all in the gravity well Hazama: Dark uroboros - Chains restore instantly, only on the ground however Mu-12: Advance steinsgunner - Steins track opponent REALLY fast, almost never miss, do more damage? (needs confirmation) Makoto: Maximum impact - Auto level 3 on drive moves all the time Platinum: SP magical symphony - Item stock recharges when you aren't using an item and are on the ground (applies to super items as well) Relius: Eternal Ignis - Ignis' gauge never depletes, EVER. Kurushii Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Actually 4 modes in it. Not 3. You unlock the 1-Unlimited Mode after you beat 1-999. Character specific items can also be earned as random rewards from depths 1k+. The drop rate of better stuff is no different between 700-999 and 1k-4k range. You are best off repeating 1-999 for the all item trophy. All enemies in 1k+ are 40-45 ranked stats. I never saw it hit the cap for the CPU (which is 50). Around 30 Speed you can quad jump/airdash. CPU AI Down makes the later depths much easier for people just trying to grind out getting all the items. I got lucky and recieved Unlock Unlimited as my 999 depth reward on my first try which made doing the rest very easy as I could just do Instant Kill combos with U.Mu :3
Sophisticat Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 So Abyss Mode is basically like GGAC+'s survival mode with all the stat boosts & powerups? Awesome! One of my fave modes in any game. Q: I don't see it mentioned here, but do you also gain stats such as atk/def/speed/etc. boosts like in GGAC+, or is it more vanilla with just powerups?
confusedxphreak Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 ^Yes, you can select to upgrade your stats such as Atk, Def, Spd, Initial Heat, and Max HP.

Any info people have on the character specific powerups, or other powerups that aren't listed here just post them up and I'll add them to the first post. Sorry about that, slipped my mind while I was writing everything up, I'll add it to the first post. EDIT: sorry been a bit busy this week, and this weekend isn't looking any better I'll try to update the post with those changes real quick but anything else will have to wait a bit. BKDennis Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Do you have to go down 999 to get all items?
Kurushii Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Do you have to go down 999 to get all items? If you are going for trophies you have to get to 999 for a trophy. After your first run of 1-999 it becomes very easy with all the items available to you. It took me about 60 hours to get all items being they are completely random.
BKDennis Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 I already have the 999 (vs Un. Mu12) trophy, I was asking for the items, are there some of them that can be obtained only going down 1k?

The best range for getting items is 700-999. Why you trying to dodge 999? It isn't hard. I've done it with every character in Stylish (Bmode).
.:TM:. Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Colors: Red - a red outline like the challengers in abyss mode Black - A pitch black flaming aura Silver - A metallic, light silvery aura Gold - A Gold, light aura (AKA DAT SUPER SAIYAN SWAG) Your character can have auras now? How do you get em?
Kurushii Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Your character can have auras now? How do you get em? They are random like every other item. Also a waste of a equipment spot.
C0R Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Adv. Stein Gunner is more untechable, does more damage and has near-perfect tracking. You can do impossible combos with it.
.:TM:. Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 They are random like every other item. Also a waste of a equipment spot. So basically the "rainbow" ability in CS2. Do they look pretty at least?
Dorro Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 In CS2 Portable, "Auto Heal: Hit points will be restored over a given period of time Heat Recovery Heat will automatically be restored over a given period of time" From what I remember neither was the best of deals. You get more health from round-to-round, and if you're playing alright in rounds and upping your heat stat you'll be getting a bunch of heat anyway. Also, is that the complete list of power-ups or is there ones you have to unlock? Heat Keeper + Quarter Rapid was AMAZING as Ragna, I'll miss that combo if it's gone. =(
Vulcan422 Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 The powerups for Rachel, Taokaka, Carl, Tsubaki, and Valkenhayn are missing from the list. Do they have any?
A.K. Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Rachel has like recover wind or something like that, I'll check back later today.
minlexx Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 What bonus is Lucky Puncher? I guess it randomly works any time you hit opponent, but I dont know what the bonus is ><
Skub Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 What bonus is Lucky Puncher? I guess it randomly works any time you hit opponent, but I dont know what the bonus is ><I believe it's a free unblockable.
SpamHadouken Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Time to spend 10,000 hours in the abyss. Took me forever for the psp version.
DJ Koopa Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 So....highest levels on auto-heal, blood sucker, and your character-specific powerup for ez wins. Mmkay.
Hellknight10 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I lol'd at Arakune's power up but if anyone is doing this with Lambda just do any knockdown into Sickle, the CPU is super free to it and if you do a corner combo, end it early with a Sickle and repeat till they are dead if they block the wheel just spam Ds (or spike chaser) until the cool down for the Sickle is done and just throw that shit in there again stay free CPU
Saltynapalm Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 (edited) The powerups for Rachel, Taokaka, Carl, Tsubaki, and Valkenhayn are missing from the list. Do they have any? Valkenhayn has unlimited wolf meter if I recall correctly. Edit: Unlimited as in it won't go out and leave you dry after it empties. It might prevent the continuation of any crazy combos.
