Lord Knight Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 Clearing some things up - 1) Yes, you can nominate more than one person. I mentioned it in the first post - whoever gets the most votes will be the 8th player. 2) I thought about it, but in the end I don't think I'll allow Midwest players to participate. On PSN, the connections are just too iffy. If enough people hellraise over this, I might let it by though. 3) I picked 8 people because I only want the best players to participate in this event. I don't really think there are more than 8 players on PSN, on EC, who'd meet my requirements to be among "the strongest".
MashThat5A Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 (edited) I nominate: - DIO aka TrollBadguy aka thatdudethatwantstoplaygg - Brice - Kirbster - Akira Shiro - SwordOfToan Edited January 30, 2012 by MashThat5A

Also, the next sentences are just my view points to assist with gaining interest for future tournaments, since it's already set in stone what the rules are, and who's in this time around, you don't have to let my opinion waiver on your decision on the first tournament, but I would like it if you took the time out to consider these options for future tournaments: I understand the want of having The Best of The Best (East Coast) to participate but selecting 7 out of 8 of the competition ahead of time is pretty biased IF you're doing this for all the tournaments in the future, but if your decision is based on getting the ball rolling on this tournament to set up for the next tournament then that's different, I can see why you chose the people you did. Let's not forget that there are players who can't get the game until the week you have set up for the tournament (I may have read that wrong but I see the date as Feb 13th?), so that doesn't gives this person voted in who haven't played the JP import a chance to prepare for your tournament. Another note; Wouldn't the tournament be more worthwhile if people Qualified for their slots a week before instead of being voted in? This way, you have guaranteed high-level player(s) in the tournaments later that deserve to participate, and it adds more interest knowing that there's a chance for others who are deserving to be showcased in your tournament. If you were to apply the qualifier method, the top 4 from the outcome of this tournament should have guaranteed slots for the next Plebian's Playground tournament and the bottom 4 should all be open for qualifiers to gather a possibility of having new faces participate each time around. (Even those who's slots are in jeopardy should participate in the qualifier, they were in the previous tournament for a reason) Now, let's say you were to go with the bottom 4 method; Have 3 slots for qualifiers and the 4th slot via voting to keep those watching (assuming this is streamed) interest peaked. Now, if you didn't want to eliminate half of the previous competition, you could go with the bottom two method; Have people qualify for the last 2 slots (voting shouldn't be a deciding factor if there are only going to be 2 Try-Out slots for future tournaments). Host a pre-tournament a week prior, and have the top 4 (or 2) from that tournament participate in the "Plebian's Playground" tournament the following week, but those trying out MUST be available the day and time the tournament starts. These are a few good ideas I thought you could use for the future "Plebian's Playground" tournaments to garner the interest you would want from the viewers you intend to reach out to, doing it this way would give the tournament much more meaning behind it; Showcasing the best that the US has to offer via an online setting. Moy_X7 Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 hi, socal, have fun guys. Well that answers that lol I kinda agree with the whole "only 8 players?" and "EC only?". I believe that if you made this a 16 person tournament and let Midwest people in on this then this will be even more hype. I'm pretty sure there are at least 16 pretty good players if you were to include players from the Midwest. There might be an underdog that you don't know or haven't played hidden out there that ends up making it to the top 4, hell might even take the tournament. An underdog taking this will make shit explode with hype lol. Just my 2 cents.
BatousaiJ Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I'll throw Haven's name in there too, love playing that guy and he's definitely east coast.
Deviru Dahlia Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Like I said in the stream, the tournament is a great idea~ I also agree with Shin. If possible, his ideas should be incorporated into the structure of Plebian's Playground, if possible~
LunaKage Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 so this is PS3 and EC only? Will other areas/consoles get one of these?
Akira-Shiro Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 If the date is feb 13th you can scratch 9balls name out,,, he dont have EX and i dont think he plans on pre-ordering it either..
OmniSScythe Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I'm pretty much confirm for getting EX for PS3 and using Makoto. The moment this event is done I'm going down to the local game spot with 5 bucks and asking to switch copies for 360. lol Anyway for people I strongly feel should be great for the 8 spot (or hell my spot if I'm deemed as ass lol): - SHADOWREDzero - Haven - feux_follets opinion. Also makoto is no longer broken sooo >.> BEEN HAD NETPLAY WINS
Chris Chaos Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 (edited) SRZ is midwest so he's out as well bro's. Also, if its East Coast only, that means Feux is out too since he's Florida, PA, NJ, NY, Mass, CT, DE, VA = EC NC, SC, GA, FL, KY, TN, MS, FL, MO = South / Southeast Just throwing this out there for you guys who are voting. Also, isn't Isuyaru in Georgia? Which is also Southeast? Edited January 30, 2012 by Shinsyn
zeth07 Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 @Lord Knight - snip so this is PS3 and EC only? Will other areas/consoles get one of these? You know, there's really nothing stopping anyone else from doing the same thing for either 360 or whatever region they feel like. It's not like he has any obligation to do anything for anyone else considering the circumstances. Also, if its East Coast only, that means Feux is out too since he's Florida How's Florida not EC..........lol? It's fucking Florida.
Kurushii Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Shinsyn you smoking some strong shit to call all of those states not East Coast. I been had East Coast.
pktazn Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 @Shin: I would think as long as anyone is on the East side of the US it would be EC... Considering you can take PA, NJ, NY, Mass, CT, DE, VA and have them as Northeast instead.
Lucien Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Shinsyn you smoking some strong shit to call all of those states not East Coast. I been had East Coast. Been had hurricanes
A.X.I.S. Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 MI sadly is midwest so even if I had a ethernet cable to play netplay I cannot participate. Another thing. Is there really 8 hella strong players on EC PSN? I wouldn't know since I lagged with a lot of people on my short psn experience.
Chris Chaos Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 (edited) Just going by the regional listings on SRK listing those states as I've stated above. If every state along the Atlantic Ocean counts as East Coast on Dustloop, then that's different. Then again, BB's netcode is pretty damn good compared to anything that any game SRK supports so, yeah... Forget what I said. Edited January 30, 2012 by Shinsyn Typo
