-Seo Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 shoutouts to dragonlordz for ruining my undefeated status on psn ;-;
TSS Atma Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 That was a great read, really enjoyed it and found myself nodding along in agreement reading it. You pretty much put my opinion in words, GG is a very diverse game, and it rewards smart play. As somebody who plays Bridget there's always that feeling of satisfaction knowing that even in this game that rewards offense so much, defence is a tool you just have to have, and controlling space and such is soooo good. Thing is, Guilty Gear requires a different set of fundamentals from SF much like all airdasher games, and I'd say Guilty Gear teaches you the best how to apply those fundamentals regularly and helps to play a more solid game, just a personal opinion. I'd also say games like Arcana Heart and even Melty Blood are the same, there's just something more, basic yet complex about them, as silly as it sounds. Also if you don't mind me asking, was the ABA player Heicko? He's a local guy that played on 360 who played ABA so I'm just wondering.
The Loli Otaku Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 My mental state is slowly rotting over here... I swear, the second I see that van driving down the street someone is getting mauled.
Kanashimi Posted May 10, 2013 Author Posted May 10, 2013 In all honesty both Ash and Atma out of lot I feel like GG teaches players more and is more rewarding to learn as well, I mean in BB to begin with as long as you some decent combos and your fundamentals are decent you can pretty much start playing from the get-go and system-wise much easier to grasp than BB. Lol Ash I'm not as good as others out there yet but after a couple of matches that wil soon sort that out aye? And yep I'm always down for games on GG message me when you want to play and that applies for anyone else too.
Darret_Wallace Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 one of the things that puts p4a below the other 2 for me is most the characters are a bunch of annoying bell ends that aren't particularly fun to use.
YukiBlue Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 They're both good games. Why do you feel the need to justify this
Darret_Wallace Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 (edited) so i look controversial and cool. but seriously i didn't intend to shit on p4 but ended up doing anyway, probably cos i think gg gets overlooked on here which is a shame, it having ass online don't help though. Kriegdrache Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Yeah, the netplay is literally the only thing holding me back from playing GG. Yo DLZ or Seo, do people rock that shit in Brum? Ill consider picking it up if I start showing up.
InWithTheAshes Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 (edited) @Atma: Lol, I wouldn't call it a "good read", it's too disparate, too unfocused. Still, I had a point to make, so I guess I just made it. Also I forgot his name ;_; . Does he sub Jam? Within any case, ask him as towards whether he played a scrubby Dizzy on XBL during the first days of the port, maybe we can have contact again. Also Bridget? Yay, rare breed! Why don't I have a PS3 ;_; . @Yuki: I did it because Simmatron was pretty much placing all reason for GG still being liked towards nostalgia. As someone who didn't start playing the game until five months ago, and, within fact, somebody who started with BB first, I wanted to outline how I believe that isn't the case. @Krieg: Seo plays it, although I'm not sure about Dragonlord, or within deed the general enthusiasm towards GG within Birmingham. YukiBlue Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 The nostalgia in GG is just a bonus to what is already a fantastic game that has not only stood the test of time, it's downright laughed in it's face. But you just gotta admit the game ain't "Smooth" or "Polished" which is what a lot of people like in FG's. BB is essentially a slightly diluted GG with easier combos. Casual's dream <3

Ill consider picking it up if I start showing up. Nah people don't rock much in Brum except for a small AE/Marvel scene at Dojo, although saying that me and Chunxx went to the last one and played some BB on request but thats disk based not a download so meh. Edit: I still owe you some BB games Atma, we'll end up playing each other on P4A BEFORE BB at this rate lol. Also I'm not sure on Birmingham's general stance towards BB but I think people like it (heck most people anywhere claim they do) Edited May 11, 2013 by DragonLordZ

Casual's dream <3 True but think about it must of us here started with BB but for it's time GG was the most "Smooth and Polished" FG out there and we wouldn't have the more friendly BB without the trial and improvement Arc had with GG. Also Ash you up for some games later? No stick so I'll be playing the scrubby trio of Pot, Johnny and Sol. Q.Q My wages don't come in 'till the end of the month.
InWithTheAshes Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Yup, games would be awwwwright . What happened towards your stick?
Kanashimi Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 Yup, games would be awwwwright . What happened towards your stick? Motion senses died on the actual stick so inputs are all wrong.

I know he'd messed around with Jam and Dizzy before. He's stopped playing since though from what I remember, hooked in by silly DotA, he doesn't even show up at locals anymore... He said he might come back when P4A or CP gets released though, so maybe I can get him back into GG when it happens. Edit: I still owe you some BB games Atma, we'll end up playing each other on P4A BEFORE BB at this rate lol. It wouldn't surprise me though I haven't played much netplay P4A, still spending time with fatal loop in the corner and gliding consistently with Yosuke.
EUCHAMP Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 are any of you guys netplaying yet? i often see tantalizing 2 bar rooms that are restricted to 3&4 bar. i suspect these are UK rooms and would really like to at least try to play in them. since i suspect that most eu players are from UK and will be yellow bar with me (poland), it is a saddening prospect if most of the UK players are playing 3+ only><. even in USA, most players are willing to play 2 bar if the connection is stable

Casual's dream <3 BB and GG are two completely different things that should never be compared to each other, but comparing the both of them is like comparing injustice to MK9 or SFXT to SSF4AE, please stop with the "BB is just a watered down GG with easier combos", that is degrading to all of those people who actually love blazblue, and this is just your opinion so i think that you should have added an IMO, because other people (like me) like BB more than GG.
YukiBlue Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I never forced my opinion on you. And of course it's my own opinion, so is every post I make. Don't just assume I've gone full dictator Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
InWithTheAshes Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I would agree that BB and GG are, despite some obvious similarities, very different games. However, partly due towards said similarities (Character types, offensive emphasis, although GG is far more involved within the latter than BB), they are available for comparison. Also, yes, I would say that BB is easier than GG. I think that most others would as well. I don't see how this is "degrading" towards you: I'm not saying you're an inferior being for playing Blaz over Guilty. I'm talking about the skill levels of the games themselves.
Darret_Wallace Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 p4a is the best game, you can make yourself a title. Mine is beat up beefcake Hanako.

Adam0812 Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 BB and GG are two completely different things that should never be compared to each other I'm sorry but don't talk shit just to make it look like you have an opinion. Of course they're comparable. And GG is to BB as Injustice is to MK9 (or whatever the most recent is)

Also P4A still isn't here yet. ;_; Oh and yes 9 is the most recent Kombat I believe. Edited May 11, 2013 by InWithTheAshes

Within the first paragraph of any BB review there's typically 'spiritual successor to GG' It's like saying there's no similarities between crash bandicoot and jak and daxter. Or spyro and ratchet. Or uncharted and the last of us. Take your pick
