Remius Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 desperately hope this isn't a trend for the future of this game series. Good localization is what got me interested in this damn game in the first place. Otherwise i'd just pick it up, skip all the content and play online like i do every other fighter.
Saltynapalm Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Are announcer voices coming over to US PSN anytime soon? I am not certain how they work with English announcers if there are any, or if they'll bring over the Japanese voices over to US PSN.
Ryudrake Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Some more notes. -The main scientist guy who had Valk's VA has been changed to Steve Kramer. -Jin/Hakumen is still David Vincent, but ArcSys used the wrong distortion effects that Aksys used and ended up lowering his pitch as a result for the Hakumen lines. -Just heard Hazama. Tokkan was right, it's not Troy. It's Doug using his Gin voice. Again, it's uncanny how similar Erik Davies sounds to him. -Torakaka has a new VA. No idea who it is, but I know it's not her original. That explains Hazama's tone. I thought it was a 3rd voice actor since he sounded a lot like Rachel's cat to me. Hakumen in CT:R did sound wonky...enough to make me disappointed but was really confused when Jin sounded the same.
Vulcan422 Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 I also just heard Hakumen's dialogue to Relius in Arcade Mode. It's exactly like his CTR dialogue but without the pitch deepened. He sounds too much like Jin, with no change in tone. It sounds like either the VA was lazy or had been working on other projects so much he couldn't get the pitch right.
oneforJJ Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Any chance that the text errors will be corrected in a patch? agreed. take Platinum's story for example. on a handful of occasions, the dialogue spoken and the text are two different things
Vulcan422 Posted February 23, 2012 Author Posted February 23, 2012 I rather doubt it. Both scripts pretty much convey the same message.
Blade Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 And this, ladies and gents, is why localization in general is better kept as text rather than dub. At least the fighting voices haven't changed that much.
Orihalcon Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Blade, keep your idiotic musings to yourself. Anyways, I found in Makoto's storyline, at the part where she mentions Noel and Hazama says 'who the Hell are you' right before you fight him? It was in Japanese on one playthrough for me, but in English every single other time. Don't know if it was just a glitch or something else.
Star-Demon Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Gave em all a chance. New bang is really UNscruffy. new haz isn't as good but still good. New noel...Idk... New lambda okay New hakumen is not jin.
Tokkan Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 New noel...Idk... New lambda okay There is no new Noel/Lambda/Nu. Still same VA, Cristina Vee.
Vulcan422 Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 New Hakumen is the same VA as well. Because of time constraints they had to resort to lowering the pitch in a lazy manner to get it to sound right. If you listen to his Arcade mode dialogue when he wins against Relius, you'll see proof. He uses the Jin voice without the filter / pitch lowering.
Arcknight Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 So I am doing the CT reconstruction and get to the Noel/Hazama part. I was taken aback by the new Hazama VA but it was all right after a few lines. Then he suddenly busted out the JP dialogue. Unintentionally hilarious. Poor on the quality end, however.
Vulcan422 Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 Like I said, never had that problem on the 360. Might be a PS3 bug.
Tokkan Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Like I said, never had that problem on the 360. Might be a PS3 bug. On my EU PS3 copy, this bug doesn't seem to exist. In fact, a lot of the errors reported by US players seem to be not anywhere in the EU version. Though the "Ice Car spamming" text for Bang's line is still there. But apart from that, the most errors I saw were just simple typos.
