shigoshi Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Well put mildly, I have a really annoying issue in that I can't go in both directions with combos. Some basic ones with my tager I can do (grab into collider which get's me back onto my 'strong' side of the screen) and same with my relius (however he has an issue getting the opponent back onto the other side of the screen). It just infuriates me so greatly and often I find it hard to deal with it if my opponent catches on at all. Anything you guys can suggest that may help me get a bit better at going left a little quicker than having to retrain my thumb for all the combos T.T Or is this something all of us has had to deal with at one point or another and I should just quit my bitching?
mr.mortified Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Its something that we all have to deal with. Personally, using stick has made it easier but as a tager player like yourself, its something you have to get used to and overcome. Its all about developing the muscle memory for doing the combos. I still have a bit of trouble doing the AC -> AC -> 6C link on the P2 side. Its nothing that training mode and practicing/developing muscle memory won't solve. You essentially just do drills and get used to performing the motions. It reminds me of the training I had to do to be able to do 360/720 in both counterclockwise and clockwise motions for that IB720.
shigoshi Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 thanks mort. Yeah, that AC into AC is a pain (except when I get it going from left to right, still make my friends cringe with it then XD...however he is still burst happy when I try and land the people's elbow -.-). Well, tager, relius....best polish off those magnets and puppets because we're about to show some people how they work and that they ain't no child's toy! (also going to set myself to 2p from now on in training).
Blade Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 (edited) As a fellow Tager player (along with several others)...I can say that 360 inputs and 720 inputs can be done the same way regardless of which way Tager is facing. So let's say your thumb is used to clockwise motion on pad, doesn't matter which way you face, so long as you buffer it off normals or Specials, it'll come out. Usually, what I like to start off with: Anything into > Atomic Collider > 2D > Atomic Reset (they neutral tech) 720C. From the left this can be done as 2D > 623C > 96321478963214789C From the right this is done as 2D > 421C > 96321478963214789C The difference being a jump from 3 to 9 from left, and 1 to 9 from right. It's not hard, but getting used to going neutral (5) also helps. Edited March 7, 2012 by Blade
A.X.I.S. Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 My fellow Tager bro this is all you need. If you have any execution questions regarding Tager then you may post here. http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?12845-Iron-Tager-Complete-Guide-BBCS-EX-Edition I can and will help. Now regarding your issue. I always found it easier to do the motion slower when facing left until I am used to it, just takes time and practice. It's not just you bro. We all had to go through this hurdle. Edit: Blade he is not asking for gimmicks, he is asking for execution advice.
mr.mortified Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 If we're going to delve into situational combos, lets not. As far as the system goes, as long as 2, 4, 6, and 8 are being hit, it counts as a 360, regardless of order. So you could actually do a litchi all green special type of input for tager and it would trigger the same effect as a 360. All I will say is practice up and develop that muscle memory for the movements in your BnB combos.
BURI Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 There's a bunch of strategies to avoid doing problematic motions on 2P side or to quickly change back into 1P, but you should really focus on getting used to those motions regardless of side, else you're going to battle both your opponent and yourself each match. If it REALLY gets into you, get a stick. It takes time getting used to, but you'll probably not differentiate left from right that much.

Strongly considering a stick since I am enjoying blazblue greatly. So far, the may issues tend to lie in performing motions on the stick going to the left that involve the wierd 623 motion (not sure if that has a name at all) which often kills me when going left however...strange I never had that issue when I dabbled with ragna (could infernal divider you both ways and not care however it did feel awkward). I think it may a mind block I have I guess...ether that or I just find going left awkward! As a note: I do main tager, however I intend to make relius another main (with ragna as good fun character. I also occassionally screw around with bang just to hear the fuh rin ka zhan tune, that tune needs to be selectable as stage music!). Back on topic of the stick that has come into the discussion: I have seen sticks however they seem to be quite expensive so what are people's opinions? I mean I am considering getting a custom one (most likely tager motif to it) so just wondering what sort of price range a decent one is or are all of them pretty expensive and thus I should just fork out the little extra for a custom one?
mr.mortified Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Oh damn, the custom route is a pretty expensive route to take if you're getting a builder to do it for you those things if dual modded go anywhere from 200+ You're probably better off getting an xbox stock stick or if you're feeling adventurous, make it yourself. Some new tech should be available soon to have easy dual mods, harnesses can come pre-done nowadays and I can suggest a guy who builds unfinished (non-painted/stained) sticks for about 40-50 USD before shipping and he does ship international Its probably a lot easier to go through the SE since its a lot cheaper and if you want to in the future, you can upgrade the parts for just a bit more

It's also usually called DP (Dragon Punch) of Street Fighter fame. And it's common to have that exact problem, specially if you don't have a history with older fighters. As a note: I do main tager, however I intend to make relius another main (with ragna as good fun character. I also occassionally screw around with bang just to hear the fuh rin ka zhan tune, that tune needs to be selectable as stage music!). I also go with Tager and Relius! And the FuRinKaZan song IS selectable as stage music! Delicious Kageyama is delicious. I understand you pain with stick prices, around where I live they are VERY expensive. I recommend getting one if you decide to get serious or if you still can't get over your issues in some days of practicing. I found BB to be quite ok on pad as opposed to, say, KOF or SF4.
Airk Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I'm not entirely sure I endorse paying a big pile of money for a custom stick as your first stick purchase - if you want custom art, I'd suggest an art mod on a TE stick or something instead. (The 360 TE also has the advantage of being super easy to dual mod.) You can get something like that for somewhere in $125 range plus a bit more for the art (unless you do it yourself.). Also, don't necessarily expect a stick to fix all your input woes.
