Moy_X7 Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I can usually get away most of the time cause of that. Hitting a DP feels good, but getting away w/o having to use it feels amazing. That right there, is the power of the DP. Use it and abuse it, young warrior.
Starlight777 Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I still can't get over the fact I came in your room and saw that fight between your rachel and that xLionHartx's Ragna Lionhart was so laggy that I decided to play in the least serious manner. Even though I lost that one I got quite a few laughs out of him running straight into my 6Bs. The real cherry on top is when I beat him and kicked him. I got some hatemail. Sweet, sweet hatemail.
Dont_Explain Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 what does having a good dp feel like ._. I feel good until I know I need to block.....then I die cause my blocking sucks.
Moy_X7 Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I feel good until I know I need to block.....then I die cause my blocking sucks. Fuck blocking, you got IB > DP lol. Then they start baiting it and either give up their pressure or create a huge gap which you can use to escape. Feels good to have a good DP even though it costs 25 Heat. I need to start learning how to bait CAs with simple jab strings like TD and SKD. That shit's legit lol.
TD Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I feel good until I know I need to block.....then I die cause my blocking sucks. l see. XD and people love spamming CA/burst until the first time they get baited. and once they get baited they get hella nervous and conservative. regaining wind is ez when people are too scared to even move forward lmao.
Dont_Explain Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I should put more practice in with IB>DP, but I get too lazy and plus I always forget to save replays and take their blockstrings to practice with.

I was dumbfounded when you and SKD baited my CA like that. I was like, "don't you have to jump to bait that shit?". I learned something! *claps hands* Should be specially useful with Plat as her pressure is 5A/2A x N with the occasional TK Swallow.
TD Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 that is an invaluable skill. part of learning ib'ing is, a lot of confidence, a LOT of patience, some technical skill, and some character knowledge. you have to take that first step into the ib'ing world. you have to next, be fluent with ib'ing nuances (being pretty exact with timing, pressing 4 8f before an attack), expect for ib to be something else (backdash, no block at all, this can be frustrating), and of course knowing how each character works. practicing ib on netplay for a week improved my defense tenfold.
TD Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 and moy, yeah 2a bait is pretty universal, just beware of those players who actually have yomi layers and can predict your bait because then you'll get mashed out.
Jyosua Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Good few games I had in Jyosua's stream last night. Went back and watched some matches. Did alrite I guess. Jyo I was hurt when you said that me DP'ing you was fraudulent, but one them was a gutsy read, another was just cause lolRagna, and the last one I messed up the combo and had meter so I was like "Just do it." You know I don't DP THAT much. Then again it's Ragna so what did you expect lol. Oh the DP wasn't what I called fraudulent. I needed only to hit you once to kill you, but once you got me in a combo it was over because lolragnadamage. :P You played relatively well. I on the other hand... I keep fucking up my play online. I swear I'm getting better and I'm much better offline. I was dumbfounded when you and SKD baited my CA like that. I was like, "don't you have to jump to bait that shit?". I learned something! *claps hands* Should be specially useful with Plat as her pressure is 5A/2A x N with the occasional TK Swallow. You can bait CA by just blocking? Also, sorry Moy, I didn't get your message until I was in my room streaming. By the time there was an open slot you were gone. We should play some games today or something.
Moy_X7 Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 At first, IB'ing puts a bit more strain on your brain as you're focusing on IB'ing and you sometimes neglect actually looking for the OH/tick throw. So after some practice you should be able to IB and react to mix-up like nothing. Like TD said though, just don't get salty when you get hit by a low or get a random back dash lol. @Jyo - It's cool, I was pretty burned out by then too.
Dont_Explain Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 (edited) Oh the DP wasn't what I called fraudulent. I just heard "fraudulent" and sadfaced. @Moy: Yeah I get hit low way too many times trying to IB. plus focusing on overheads which I still get hit by doesn't help. Edited May 16, 2012 by Dont_Explain
advancedNoob Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 IB is tricky. If I see someone do it I immediately go for overheads, and it works 99% of the time.

Really? all this? I just took my yomi skills from 3s parrying and applied it to IB'ing after a while when i thought about it EDIT: i really hate those random backdashes sometimes though.

Dr.Patient Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Sorry for the double post, but are you in WC, Jyosua? If so, we should play when I get my net back on.
Starlight777 Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 It's that time of day again. It's time for shitty netplay. Who's got rooms available?
Jyosua Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 @Jyo - It's cool, I was pretty burned out by then too. You able to play today? I gotta write an article, but I'm pretty free the rest of the day. Sorry for the double post, but are you in WC, Jyosua? If so, we should play when I get my net back on. WC?
Moy_X7 Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I'll play whoever is available in about 10 minutes. Gotta finish updating this one section of the Plat combo thread or else my OCD will kick in.

Lol I'll be on. Also I find it funny the Jin mod is updating the Plat combo thread. West Coast Oh, not yet. Will be in about a month and a half.
toanenadiz Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Moy, how easy is it for you to go through projectiles with the pogo stick?
Moy_X7 Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Moy, how easy is it for you to go through projectiles with the pogo stick? It depends on which projectiles they are and in what section of the screen they're used. I can pogo through Spike Chaser, Ice Blades, and B/C Lobelias (without wind boost) like nothing. I can't pogo Lambda's Ds, Spark Bolt on reaction, I can react to it but the projectile invul doesn't kick in until after frame 8. I need to train myself to pogo Death Spike, that's pretty much the only move that allows me to land an FC with it. I also need to train myself to pogo Jin's 2D and 6D, as well as Ignis yo-yo. Then there are moves which are not worth pogo'ing through because you'll get hit during recovery like Bang's nails, Pumpkin, wind boosted Lobelias, Sword Iris, chains (retractable), Litchi's Ds, Volante, Stein lasers, etc. I need to try it against Plat's missiles and bombs and see how that works out lol.
Dont_Explain Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 GGs to DWB and TD. Sorry for stopping that one game TD, but I just kept messing up simple inputs and I kept stopping mid pressure cause of it.
