This chica is gonna improve. Anyone without a DP/reversal, the AI reads your inputs and they'll DP you anytime they're not on block-stun. Lambda and Haz are good since you can practice reacting and IB'ing swords and chains.
Lich Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Relius isn't a bad character, it's just that other characters can do what he does more efficiently and with better rewards. Relius just needs a few tweaks and he could easily be a strong character. Compared to Rachel from CS1, Relius is pretty good. I'm not quite sure I would say he's on the level of Tsubaki/Makoto, but if he's better than them, it's only marginally so. When I win with Relius it's either because the other player didn't know what was going on, or because I was the better player that match, that's how I feel at least. Well thats what makes him bad. He has literally nothing ground-breaking or that just makes you wanna say "Fuck this character" He's just worse at doing things than other characters, so why play him? I mean he's really fun but.... @Toan: Sure man whenever. My net is kind of free, though.

He has literally nothing ground-breaking or that just makes you wanna say "Fuck this character" He's just worse at doing things than other characters, so why play him? I mean he's really fun but.... I play him because I love his and Plat's playing styles. Some fast normals, decent pokes, projectiles, DPs... balance. I don't really care that he sucks, except for the j.B nerf which was just totally uncalled for lol. That and if I just dropped characters because they suck then I would be a horrible person.
Errol Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 I don't know if it's just me, I feel like he stole my 5b from cs2 and they gave tsubaki a run of the mill 5b in place of it. Never really tried to figure out how his pressure works in training mode, I guess that's the problem for me. Beats me when to mash out, just seems like endless resets, heh.. I guess his damage feels pretty good to me too. Throw in corner for 5k+ with 1 DD?

He was talking about Relius in that instance, the point with Jin was that he isn't a bad character lol.

I disagree with that. In my eyes a "bad" character is either flawed on a fundamental level or someone who just isn't playable at any kind of competitive level. You can win with Relius, just like I feel you can win with Makoto, it's just that your odds of winning with them at the highest levels are lower compared to a stronger character. This isn't really the case with say, Sean from 3rd Strike, you can't really win with him at the highest levels unless you're just so much better than everyone else that it didn't matter who you used. In my eyes, you're referring to an underpowered character, which I agree that Relius is. That's just my opinion.

She don't need it,her damages are insane even without charge. Only Ragna need charges for more dmgs in this game.(Real Talk)

Her design in terms of the game is just too good for her to be inherently bad. She would need some serious nerfs in terms of damage or something for me to ever consider her a bad character. And I don't see that in Extend. Best example, watch how Litchi fights then watch how Relius fights and pay close attention to it. The function of Litchi's staff serves almost the exact same purposes as Igniz, and yet Relius has negative aspects about it and by comparison is fundamentally flawed. This can be seen in multiple character's designs.

Maybe a year ago when CS2 came out? I don't think I've heard him say anything good about litchi since EX except that corner shes a good character. lol
Rhiya Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 The short version of why Litchi isn't great in EX is that it's hard as fuck to get people to the corner in EX, and Litchi is only really good in the corner. Her neutral isn't bad by any means, but Litchi is about corner game, and she doesn't get to play corner game nearly enough in this version.
