BatousaiJ Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 You seemed to have no problem doing whatever the hell you wanted and still won a lot. That's probably because I do a mixture of playing properly and not giving shits. It tends to get in people's heads and then basically at that point I can get away with realllllly stupid stuff. Also on a side note, I just recently added quick getup stuff to my repertoire(I never used this before) and I'm impressed at how effective it is. Very cool~
toanenadiz Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 You seemed to have no problem doing whatever the hell you wanted and still won a lot. Batou only wins like that because he draws you in to play like him and he has more practice doing it so he would win more. You can always just avoid getting caught at his pace. Or do like me and just follow it because it leads to awesome and stupid moments. I won't forget that Blood Kain through my gold burst and then punishing with DbD Batou.
Dont_Explain Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 D_E: It might seem that way but in reality he's making a lot of good reads (or he gets lucky as fuck) lol Like when I fought his Tsubaki I'm like "Ok he started using his meter right away after he gets it; no problem just j.C.......shield rush traded." Obviously I can't 5B and 5C is like I need to do it preemptively. What is this I don't even.

toanenadiz Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I meant to ask you this. I remembered I 360'd one of Tsubaki's shield rushes. Does it matter if it is the D version of the shield rush? I don't know if Tsubaki would switch sides through a 360 or not with the D version. I figured you have to know by now because Mucky has to have tried doing it.
Dont_Explain Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 If you let Tsubaki get a lot of charges. You're gonna have a bad time. Let me guess...."Don't just charge in on Tsubaki. Just get close enough so she thinks about her buttons more and then if she seems scared go in."

I don't know if Tsubaki would switch sides through a 360 or not with the D version. I figured you have to know by now because Mucky has to have tried doing it. It'll trade or you'll grab her out of it, the switching sides only triggers after hit/block with 236D, there's no invincibility to 236x series at all. Using 236x outside of combos or obvious punish against Tager is really, realllllllly stupid and rule #1 in the match up list of things not to do. Let me guess...."Don't just charge in on Tsubaki. Just get close enough so she thinks about her buttons more and then if she seems scared go in." Not really, the wiser thing to do with Rags is to get in on Tsu and never, ever let her out. However, obviously there's a balance to everything. If I knocked you away and I see you just dash in everytime then I'll stop charging and 5B/236x/22x/3c you in the face(the shin for 3c) before you get in. But if you don't keep me pressured to the point where I think charging for longer than 1 second is going to be incredibly risky, then I'll get my charges and then the stuff I can do to make your life annoying increases quite a bit. I've also noticed that you almost never use GH in your block strings. Given I was looking for it but still, you have to throw it out so I respect that option and give me a reason to just not block low during most of your block string. I think your hit confirming has improved and you're starting to use more frame traps with throws/2c and etc which is very good to do but there are a few more things you need to add to your offense. mAc Chaos Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I don't think playing the AI is very helpful. It just does random stuff and you can't "read" it like a normal person. It's better to just play the game against normal folks. Anyway, when you're first starting out beating the AI on 100 is no easy task. From what Agni says, he sounds like he's at the level where he's still learning stuff like B > C > Hell's Fang and remembering which button does what. No matter what you read here, it's not going to stick until you've played enough to get a good feel for things. You'll just forget about it and panic during the match until then.
Agni Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I'm somewhat past that point, Mac, my real problem is no knowing what to DO with each move. It's like...I know the moves individually, but I don't know how they all work together.

It's better to just play the game against normal folks. Playing the AI really only helps with two things. One: hit-confirming on a moving/blocking target. Two: reacting to jump-ins, cross-ups, overheads, Bursts, throws, and super flash to buffer stuff. That's all you're getting out of the AI; hit-confirms and sharpened reactions. At this point, most people that still play this game have years of experience so they'll have to sandbag the guy pretty damn hard. Then they get down on themselves because they can't win (obviously) lol.

I neglect GH only because everytime I do the damn move people upback it. Bad luck I suppose. I rather do it with heat so it's safer and I get more damage anyways. I probably had many chances to do it and RC, but I really didn't look at my heat much. In fact I did a crossup DID and thought I had enough meter, but couldn't RC. Edited July 3, 2012 by Dont_Explain
toanenadiz Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 How do you play the AI and not just abuse exploits in their AI? It is hard to practice anything when I can just D them out of everything and it always hits.
TD Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 actually mac i'll have to disagree, l think learning how to beat the ai is the first step to success. besides learning to block and do combos against a moving foe, a new player learns how to adapt. its great because its alot slower-paced than a real match and there's no severe 'penalty' for guessing wrong as the ai arent combo oriented - no 4k into oki, no super hard to block resets etc. another great thing to playing the ai is, after figuring out what the ai does repeatedly in multiple situations, learning how to poke, anti-air, and poke using air to ground/air attacks. its great for beginners looking to get familiar with the game just as any other fg. maybe not lv 100 though, i'd say lv 60 is a good challenge to start with.
Kriegdrache Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I seemed to have played nothing but Lambda and Jin tonight. Guys, I think I've been playing CT by mistake.
Moy_X7 Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 How do you play the AI and not just abuse exploits in their AI? It is hard to practice anything when I can just D them out of everything and it always hits. I only abuse the AI on their wake-up or after frame advantage with 2Bs because they won't use reversals most of the time if you use lows on them. I only fight Lambda and Hazama because they have limited reversal options and they're not as derp as AI Ragna who wants to Hell's Fang me at every chance he gets. Of course I could just Mami them to death and it will work but I know better than that. Oh yeah, they're good for IB practice too.
toanenadiz Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 (edited) They are derp when you have near full screen coverage and they enjoy pressing buttons nowhere near you. I guess it would work better with characters that need to fight close to do anything. I should try it with Tao and see how it goes. I gave up after using Lambda and then Tager against it a long time ago. Edit: It is just really hard for me to see a jump and not 6D it and the AI gets hit 99% of the time and they don't really ever approach on the ground. Edited July 3, 2012 by toanenadiz
Moy_X7 Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Yeah, they somehow always manage to get hit by random Bombs and Missiles from full-screen. The only time when they actually respect the Missiles is when I use them during the 3C > 214D combo finisher in the corner. They will always block it in the corner.
Lord Knight Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 you dont play the ai in tourneys so personally i think its a waste of time if youre trying to be good
mAc Chaos Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I seemed to have played nothing but Lambda and Jin tonight. Guys, I think I've been playing CT by mistake. I was playing that with my brother last night. I forgot how many inputs they changed for Hakumen. It's so disorienting. Every combo was like 4 hits and 4.5k. And bursting is so ridiculously fast, it's awesome. Haku has no way of having oki though; I forgot I used to have all these little tricks to try and keep people from just running away, but it's all lost in the past now. But JIN. Jin is amazing. Those blue beat make-your-own ice combos, I love it.
Kriegdrache Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Yeah I remember playing CT after playing CS, I couldn't get used to J2C as JC. Those were the good old days, but I would miss 4C so much if we went back to CT Haku for some reason. Also, the only reason why I realised I was playing CS tonight was cause Ive been playing Valk recently
Moy_X7 Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I play the AI when the people at home are hogging the net and I'm bored. I'm not worried about hit-confirms at this point but my reactions and execution need as much sharpening as needed. Besides, I probably won't be going to any tournaments until next year when I save up for a car that's guaranteed to not break down on the freeway like my current one most likely would lol.
