Oh man, please don't pull a Star on us. We already have our hands full with him lol. Go to practice mode, set the AI to Level 100 and practice your hit-confirms and reactions against it. The AI is a cheating bastard and will always use a reversal move on wake-up the moment it reads an offensive input, so to get around that just use lows and the AI will very rarely use a wake-up reversal. I don't know how that works but it works.

It looks like your main is Platinum and her offense is pretty straightforward. 5A > 2A x N, with the occasional grab, command grab, 6B, and TK Swallow j.B. I could play a few matches with you and you can try and learn from what I'm doing. Her corner combos are pretty damn tricky though, even the Japanese still drop them from time to time so you'll need to practice those a LOT.

Lol wow.

I just checked and I'm literally at the bottom of the Lambda rankings. There isn't anyone below me.

Even the game itself thinks I suck.

If it makes you feel better, every single Lambda who hasn't played ranked is technically below you.

Ranked. Also I'm the second from the bottom on the overall ranking boards.

It's not really that I got beat so badly that makes me feel like shit, it's the fact that I basicaly didn't know what to do at all. Even the three--I counted--times I was able to make an offense I just sat there, unsure of WTF to do and took another hit.

I practice all these combos in training mode...and then I suck in a real match because I don't know spacing/zoning/etc.

This is the same as any other fg. You won't be having fun until you put the work in. The best thing you can do when starting out is run through arcade mode ad nauseum and set goals. Like doing 1 combo every round. Arcade mode will let you practice with match momentum. I have to do this every fg. If you jump right into matches you won't accomplish anything until you get a feel for the game.

It's your first match. Giving it any super importance is like trying to ride a bike, falling off once and then saying "Wow I'll never learn what's the point."

You won't even be really remotely competent 'til you have like 1000.

And if that fails just dp every wakeup and do lots of purple grabs. Oh and burst in the air 2/3rds into eating a combo.

If lag was a factor, don't be hard on yourself. Lag tends to screw everyone over once in a while, including me.

Shoutouts to Sasukii for hatemail and bitching over a laggy match he could have AVOIDED if he disconnected from me. Then called my Mu shitty when I managed to pull through despite that lag. Then started bitching over me running into him again in ranked even though I didn't mean to.

In the words of Gordon Ramsay..."F*CKING DONKEY."

I smashed him in the mirror last night.

lol

oh lamdba

pres d

Listen to Master Asia here, he has the best advice.

Also don't give a fuck about rankings, play at your own pace and you'll start to get the hang of it.

And mac never learned how to ride a bike.

It's so sad.

Tried this.

Got about 4 hits in literally 5 minutes. The other 4:30 minutes was me getting obliterated by the AI.

Turned the game off in shame. I can't even beat the AI FFS

I could train with you and give some advice tonight (some things I -do- know). Would you like that? Don't ever let any game defeat you. You dust yourself off and try again.

What the... man, don't do that shit. It's a game, you're not supposed to feel shame from playing a damn game. If you're doing that poorly against the AI, then you probably don't even know how your moveset works. Set the AI back to "Training Dummy" and get familiar with all of your moves: their range, their start-up, their recovery, their properties. From then, move on to mastering combos. Then fight the Level 100 AI again.

how to learn a new character (the super easy way):

1 - learn their normals and specials (ex - know what their 5b is. is it a jesus kick? a pistol whip? a blast of wind to the face?)

2 - find out who the top player(s) are for said character, and watch alot of their videos. get accustomed to how they are playing, and practice playing like the one you like best.

this is how l learned rachel, all 10 of my subs (lol), and every other character in other fg's. and it didnt take long at all to get good with them, as long as you dont mind losing the first few days.

but l know learning times are rather subjective...

I'd like to but my mom tends to monopolize the TV until way late at night. The times I usually can be on are any time before about 5:00 PM (summer vacation means my I tend to be home when my parents aren't).

Did Star just find a new training partner?

There really is someone for everyone in the universe!

GGs to DontExplain and Kaz for some games.

I like how much DontExplain's strategy shifts from trying to block to don't give shits press buttons over the course of the games but then again I can't blame him since I kept getting hit by a bunch of DPs I should be baiting more of.

I know why I do bad now. When I see dumb shit I follow tout suite.

While I fully encourage people to do whatever the hell they want and have fun, it's really not going to help you win very much.

Pretty much this

I always see people tell other people "Just play without giving a fuck". Playing without giving any fucks is like a gimmick; it might work for a match or two but you're usually more vulnerable to baits and traps.

D_E: It might seem that way but in reality he's making a lot of good reads (or he gets lucky as fuck) lol

Shoot me an invitation when you're ready.

I will. Stupid pizza epic wait time. Might be a bit longer. I'm on a Dante kick and I only eat pizza cause that's about where I am today.
