MisoSowee Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 HOLY SHIT YOU ARE ALIVE!?!?!?!?! MISOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :o I've returned for Persona hehe. You've got yourself a fancy star there though :D Is there any benefit to picking up an airborne target with 2a as opposed to using 5a into 5b-5cc-etc?
TD Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 l agree. l've resorted to j.a j.b dj.a j.b, j.c/c garu. its pretty reliable and with decent damage. garu ender gives good damage, and elizabeth can choose to position herself in various ranges depending on what the player is planning to do next. it doesn't knock down, the foe airtechs really close to the ground, theres probably some reset potential in this.
Kiba Posted August 8, 2012 Author Posted August 8, 2012 (edited) noob question im extremely new to this kind of game im trying to do this combo 5AAA > D.Garu[3] > 5A > 5B > 5C(2) > 2C > B.Bufu > SB.Zio but after the D garu i cant get the 5A to hit at all, heres a vid can someone tell me what im doing wrong? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4h9VvFox8s You're moving upwards and most of the time you're even moving past the opponent. It's here.Try doing a 2 input. I can't get this down myself and a lot of people seem to be having trouble with this combo so instead, go for the easier combo which would be to do 5AA > Sweep > SB.Garu stuff. Alternatively you could do 5AAA > A.Bufu > A.Bufu > JC Edited August 8, 2012 by Kiba
Eladrien Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 The biggest problem with mid-combo use of D.Garu is that the "correct" motions to continue the combo afterwards is pretty character specific. I haven't tried getting it down with everyone, but I know that for Narukami and Mitsuru, you need to do D.Garu[9] briefly then [2] or [3] in order to pop them up high enough so you recover with enough time to land 5A before they can tech.
Kaialynn Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 (edited) You're moving upwards and most of the time you're even moving past the opponent. It's here.Try doing a 2 input. I can't get this down myself and a lot of people seem to be having trouble with this combo so instead, go for the easier combo which would be to do 5AA > Sweep > SB.Garu stuff. Alternatively you could do 5AAA > A.Bufu > A.Bufu > JC I ground out this combo a bit earlier and what I found was to do 5AAA > D.Garu[3]~222 > 5A > 5B > etc. Basically, you hold 3 long enough to get them going, then right before you go under them or would put them too far away, tap 2 until you land. I've also gotten [9]~[3] to work but it's really tricky and not very reliable. It's definitely one of the more finnicky timings I've run into. Also, what I personally struggled with when I was trying to get the combo is that after you get the last hit of D.Garu[3] (which is what should pop them up into the air allowing you to continue the combo) was that I was pressing 5A too early after landing. You have to delay it quite a bit to get things right. Finally, you can cross them up and still continue the combo if people were curious. EDIT: Some people are asking if it's character specific, I just tried this on everyone. It's possible on everyone with varying degrees of difficulty, here's a chart and afterwards I'll give some advice on the people that are Hard - Very Hard. Easy: Kanji, Labrys, S.Labrys Medium: Mitsuru, Naoto, Yukiko, Akihiko Hard: Yousuke, Aigis Very Hard: Kuma, Liz, Yu, Chie For Yousuke - He seems to fall a bit faster than the others so you have to be really spot on with your 5A. For Aigis - She always ended up falling weird. I haven't actually looked at the character weights in the game but I think she's really light. I had to delay the 5C after the 5A > 5B or she would tech. For Kuma, Liz, and Yu - You have to wait for them to pop out of the 5AAA for them to get high enough during D.Garu and get enough untech time. It's easiest on Kuma, hardest on Yu. Chie - Borderline Impossible. She's so small that delaying the 5AAA makes the D.Garu almost not hit and then she falls so fast it's so difficult. The best way I've found is to do 5AAA [Delay] D.Garu[9]~[6]~[3] really fast and adjusting from there. She is by far the hardest character to hit with this combo. EDIT 2+3: Revised Everything to be easy to read. Hopefully this helps you guys! Edited August 8, 2012 by Kaialynn
xlolxlolx Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 tbh guys.....that meterless combo is only good at like the very 1st few like 5 seconds of the match lol
SansProtocol Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Holy crap Kaia, glad to see ya back and thanks for all that info! So much to test out now.
Kiba Posted August 8, 2012 Author Posted August 8, 2012 Useful information. Thanks. But xlol is right on that though. I should consider removing it. I just considered it because it seems like a good combo to do without spending meter while gaining some (by using A/B.Zio at the end), but it's just too specific unfortunately.
xlolxlolx Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 naw its good to have it but only for the chars where its much more stable on
Kiba Posted August 8, 2012 Author Posted August 8, 2012 Yea you're right. Alright then. Thanks again everyone for helping me with the combo thread. I really appreciate it.
Kaialynn Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Yeah of course, no problem! I wouldn't reccomend that combo on anyone aside from Labrys, S.Labrys, and Kanji anyways. I was trying some stuff with a friend earlier and it's just not a very useful combo, way too specific. Looks quite stylish, though.
xlolxlolx Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 its really easy on sanada too, easy enough to connect 5b after wards
mMarikom Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 HNNNG THIS CHARACTER Trying to secondary her from a Chie main is a learning experience...especially day 2...
Juunee Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I'm gonna be sure to get on the Big two persona footage from today once the archive is up, apparently Chris G is playing elizabeth :D levelup and xanadu are also streaming persona tonight
Judgemastar Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I don't know if this question has been answered already but what do you guys think about this OMC mixup: 2B, OMC, j.5A. I'm still learning Elizabeth's combo potential so I haven't yet found big damage off of it considering you don't build any meter for this combo.
Judgemastar Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 you get like 4k off it with 25 more meter What's the combo? is it in the combo thread?
MisoSowee Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 What do you guys do after a blocked sb maragidyne from full screen? especially against rushdown chars like akihiko, i'm never sure what to do when they're right next to me. I usually do a 2a or aoa overhead, but i've been hoping there would be some aerial options.
Jocelot Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I dunno if it's just day 2 jitters or something, but I can't get Thanatos to work with me. I've seen combos of Thanatos doing like 5C, 2C, Mabufudyne, or 5C, Maziodyne but no matter how I try to time it (or mash it when I'm desperate) nothing seems to connect.
xlolxlolx Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 j.a>dash 5aa>5b>3c>ex garu[9~2]>d garu[2]>2a>5b>5c(2)>2c>b bufu x2>j.c you can do air turn j.b or d garu gimmicks but theyre not as safe

Against someone likely to mash dp I'd look for a way to get 2c out safely, the hitbox tends to envelop liz so the armor will eat a double upper from akihiko and blow him up.
Judgemastar Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 j.B does not hit high so I don't think it's a good mixup. Also, I'm pretty sure you don't have enough time to dash after the j.A. Maybe in a fear combo it'll work, but not outside one

That's actually her staple combo. Keep in mind that: 1. the combo will only work on an airborne target 2. the inputs should be put in exactly when the dmg of the last input is done. so for 5c when the second sword hits you should input 2c immediately, and when 2c hits you should input your bufu, and when the ice portion of bufu hits, you do you next bufu. it took me a good hour to get it in the beginning, but once it clicks it's immediately much easier to get. Good luck!
TD Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 j.B does not hit high so I don't think it's a good mixup. Also, I'm pretty sure you don't have enough time to dash after the j.A. Maybe in a fear combo it'll work, but not outside one j.b crossover doesn't need to hit high as it is a left/right mixup. and, you can dash after the j.a, you just have to be on point. as for ex maragidyne, it's barely plus on block. really, after it you have another rps game. will the foe respect you? if so, start with a mixup, 2a into pressure, or command grab. will they dp? block and punish, or go for shuffle time vs ground dp's. 2c may work but the risk/reward here is pretty skewed. will they jump? yomi j.5d or bufu. there are multiple character specific answers that cannot be answered right now, but will definitely prove useful as we gain knowledge. for now, it's best to stick to the basics. never give up your advantage for the sake of baiting a dp or w/e, stand your ground and make as many educated guesses as possible
