xlolxlolx Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 dont forget just a plain delayed sweep can catch some people and also ends a blockstring relatively safe from near max range
sanada321 Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 how does Yu beat button mashers? does he just block then sword dive in when he sees an opponening? or does he keep his neutral game and hit em with 5B when theres a opening? also when doing his Oki do you always have to do 5D after a sweep ?cant it be after a slide?
Chris Chaos Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 how does Yu beat button mashers? does he just block then sword dive in when he sees an opponening? or does he keep his neutral game and hit em with 5B when theres a opening? Yu's tools can catch mashers and punish them pretty hard. You have the tools in neutral to assist in forcing an opponent to respect you. Mid Range Tools: 5B, 2B, j.B, 5C, 2C Close Range Tools: 5A/2A Stagger Pressure Using these tools wisely will help to force an opponent to respect you if they're mashing. also when doing his Oki do you always have to do 5D after a sweep ?cant it be after a slide? Sweep is the go-to tool especially if you're mid-screen. The only time you would use Swift Strike (Slide) is when you're close to the corner, and even then, it's the C version. If using this option, you will follow up with a 5A > 5C j.BB > j.2A > j.D The bold is your oki option at the end of this corner combo. When you opt out in the corner for j.2A knock down, your oki option becomes j.D. In the end, sweep is the safest way into Oki and j.D is your other option in the corner.
MetsuGadoken Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Just wondering, who are the top yu players to look out for? I'm trying to look up some high level yu play, but I honestly have no idea who the top yu players are

MetsuGadoken Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 All regions? So Japan, Europe, USA Just trying to find some (recent) matches to look up on youtube. Honestly don't care where they're from, as long as they're good.
Fistmaster049 Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 https://www.youtube.com/user/BanchouJP?feature=watch try this channel, it has a good few videos featuring some of the best Narukamis from Japan
MetsuGadoken Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Ah nice, I actually subscribed to channel yesterday. I guess I'll just watch all those videos then. thanks.
sanada321 Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 how long does it take to get used to Yu? im not used to playing a character like him with neutral game and Oki. im really used to playing a rush down type of character or a projectice character so i tried akihiko but now i started playing as Yu, he is my best character so far so how long on average would it take getting used to his Oki and neutral game

MetsuGadoken Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 How exactly do his safe jumps work? I read somewhere can't remember where, that you can do a safe jump after 214 C and cross slash if you do dash jump B , but whenever I try it I always get Dp'd and never land fast enough to block in time.
Fistmaster049 Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 How exactly do his safe jumps work? I read somewhere can't remember where, that you can do a safe jump after 214 C and cross slash if you do dash jump B , but whenever I try it I always get Dp'd and never land fast enough to block in time. You can get safe jumps off of: A mid screen combo ending in 214C, Cross slash (I'm pretty sure you could even set up 5D oki safely on CH CS) or after a throw Unless you do it fast enough (like jumping at the first frame you are able) you will probably have to predict if they will reversal or not Also side note, Don't really bother trying to safe jump against Yosuke,Teddie or Kanji, Their reversals pretty much make them immune to safe jumps unless you get clever Yu's and Akihiko's you are going to have to careful as well due to the first hit of their reversals being air unblockable
MetsuGadoken Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Ah that makes sense I tried it out in training mode against yu then later tried it on an akihiko online.
VR-Raiden Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Ah that makes sense I tried it out in training mode against yu then later tried it on an akihiko online. As long as you get the dash jump out soon enough, and do the j.B low enough, you'll be safe against anyone except Yosuke, Teddie, Kanji like Fistmaster said. Akihiko's is slightly faster than Yu's so maybe that's what caused you to wonder about it. Also against Naoto and Yukiko you have to do j.B lower so that only 1 hit would connect to be able to safejump their DPs, or you can just do a low j.A. You can safejump off most knockdowns, the main ones you can't are after an air hit j.2A or 214D.
grove03 Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Also side note, Don't really bother trying to safe jump against Yosuke,Teddie or Kanji, Their reversals pretty much make them immune to safe jumps unless you get clever Yu's and Akihiko's you are going to have to careful as well due to the first hit of their reversals being air unblockable You can still choose to safe jump yosuke, teddie, and kanji. if you choose to bait the reversal, its free damage. You are losing your pressure by opting NOT to safe-jump them. The risk/reward is still in your favor because if they are right, both players usually just go back to playing the neutral game. If they guess wrong, depending on where you are, you get massive damage because those are free 5C CHs, free 2C FCs, or a free knockdown
PK Gaming Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Is 5A > 5AA > 5B > 2B > 5C >2C a true blockstring I love using it, but i'm afraid it might have a gap.
VR-Raiden Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Is 5A > 5AA > 5B > 2B > 5C >2C a true blockstring I love using it, but i'm afraid it might have a gap.If I recall that is all airtight if done as fast as possible until the 2C. 5C > 2C is a small gap. But it's usually pretty safe to use anyway from a distance since most invulnerable moves can't reach it.
