Aki- Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 GGS to the people I played today and shoutouts to the scrubs that rage all day LOL (:
floatwater Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I'm probably going to sub Yu too at some point, if only to avoid mirror matches. Dat oki, 2B, Awakening Super, and DP are too tempting. I'd play Titsuru but goddamn those charge commands just really get to me; I absolutely hate them. Welcome to the reason I dropped ash crimson and went to the ancestor. I want to give aigis a shot sometime. @shin: she is corner damage is lolz. I switch to her every now n then but I can't practice because I don't have the game :/.
Wing Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 i hate the fact that this game REWARDS for mashing...
fleishwalker Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I'll join your preservero group no problem I am free-er than free coffee EDIT actually it has just occurred to me that this is not an xbox live lobby so I am not joining anything
Kaising Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 lol are you serious? I didn't know that. That's really silly if you think about it... DP motion is such a classic. dem extremely casual players can't handle DP motion. 214 and 236 is the only sane option. @Wing - only if you mash smart. my mashing never works. yosuke's/naoto's dp enforces no mashing unless my opponents were REALLY dumb.
Agni Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 i hate the fact that this game REWARDS for mashing... No it doesn't. Mashers do SLIGHTLY better in this game than in most Fighters, but anybody with even a modium of skill will be able to beat them. I should know, I get blown up constantly and I'm a masher (ableit one who doesn't mash as much as most examples).
Circuitous Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 i hate the fact that this game REWARDS for mashing... Except in both cases of being rewarded for "mashing", taking a measured approach to it works better. It's easier to press A each time you hit rather than mash it furiously (which also avoids accidentally doing the special/super if it isn't wanted), and on AoA's it's easier to hit A+B a set number of times and then launch deliberately instead of just going nuts on the buttons. Beyond that, getting ~15 meter and some burst is a fair trade for basically giving up any good damage or control over your combo. Once you get that bonus, your options are extremely limited. (Well, for most characters, anyway.) But hey, consider it a good reason to work on your defense! Knowing any idiot can mindlessly get 2k on you off a random hit sounds like pretty good incentive to think about what the fuck you're doing.
HARD_BREAD Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 GGs to anyone I've run into over the past few days. Especially the Naoto player; sorry I've been playing the match up sloppy, I haven't played any goo Naos (save omni but I don't get to play him much).
Demon Wind Bomb Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 ggs to ranked. Shoutouts to Superfurix. We ran into each other a lot today.
BatousaiJ Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 i hate the fact that this game REWARDS for mashing... That's really because the game is kind of in its infancy and people don't know how to properly punish mashing with frame traps. Learn to punish it with sexy FC combos and you'll be glad people think mashing is a good way to win.
Chris Chaos Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 i hate the fact that this game REWARDS for mashing... Why are you losing to mashers when you play Mitsuru? You should be blowing mashers up with 5A.
floatwater Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I fucking hate this game. I'm actually mad for once.
floatwater Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 (edited) When I sit down and think about it afterwards, it's usually both. I like the game mechanics n stuff but some things get me, like how people can just mash the fuck out of A to stop my oki game with Yu. I still don't even practice this game because I don't own it. Also the players. They think "fuck if this A is so fast with Aki imma mash this shit on wake up, knockdown, tech, teching grabs, in the middle end or start it oki" And with the game is that some character rely on persona while other can still get damage with or without them. It's odd to me but I'm just ranting. . Edited August 23, 2012 by Crossfire
Agni Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 And with the game is that some character rely on persona while other can still get damage with or without them. It's odd to me but I'm just ranting. How is this different than some BB characters relying on their Drives more than others?
floatwater Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 How is this different than some BB characters relying on their Drives more than others? The only people who I felt needed to rely in their drive (that wasn't part of them) were the clovers. Everyone else could function without their drives. Guess I'm just finally getting that taste since I never touched Carl but played relius.
Agni Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 That's kind of what I mean. For some BB characters, like Ragna and Jin, their drives basically just another set of attacks with some unique properties, but still just attacks. For others, like Litchi, the Clovers, and/or Rachel, their drives form a large core of their unique playstyle.
SolxBaiken Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 But in BB you can't break a character's Drive (with exceptions to Puppet/Stand characters obviously) and render them 90% useless...
Agni Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Okay, I'll agree that Persona Break was a good idea but is kinda bad in execution. I REALLY hate how you can't regenerate the cards unless you're persona-broken, so if you've got only a few left, you basically can't take out your persona at all because you'll get broken. But breaking a Yukiko's persona and then getting in her face because she was useless without it was the highlight of my day yesterday. (She still bodied me anyway)
SolxBaiken Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Oh I have 0 problem with the Persona Break system, but it's the fact that it's universal and heavily effects some characters far more than others (and on the flip side you have some characters that really couldn't give 2 craps if their Persona is broken) that kinda irks me.
Errol Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 What chars don't care so much about their personas being broken/
Agni Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 What chars don't care so much about their personas being broken/ I think Akihiko barely uses his persona at all. Anyway, I think a good idea would be for certain characters to have more cards. Like Yukiko could have way more to account for how important her Persona is to her playstyle.
toanenadiz Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 This reminds me that I need to use my persona more. I don't think I really use it outside of combos.
Agni Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 On the contrary, I keep accidently mashing my Persona out. Doesn't hell that the wierd button layout for this gameales keep hitting C instead of B
Kaising Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 On the contrary, I keep accidently mashing my Persona out. Doesn't hell that the wierd button layout for this gameales keep hitting C instead of B you'll get used to it. that happened to me for the 1st week and a half.
