Raph_Stryker Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Scalpel Pull FB ends with some hefty good damage. Just don't use it if the have a burst, cuz there goes 25 percent meter, and they usually land before the FB animation finishes. Pogo drop (236D in the air) is a great move entirely, but i say its best used if you feel caught in the air. If you know they are trying to position themselves under you, just drop down and do some surgery on their face. now, for the handslap..i say its a solid mixup, and it is useful to get out of pressure strings, but them ib-ing it tends to leave you in a bad position. seriously, not using them doesnt do much to his gameplay, since faust can do whatever he wants with his meter (doesnt even have to use it even), its all up to you.
uremog Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 i'm not so experienced, but if they're a ground rushdown character, it's a bad idea to use it to break pressure strings, since they'll likely run past your hit boxes. a HOS just ate mine once with gunblaze today and ran past it on another occasion when i used it during a pressure string (don't remember if i was FDing). good mixup though. good to kill sweeps too. i've accidentally used it in combos a few times, but that's just my bad execution (frick, i dropped so many combos today). i haven't even looked at its use in combos. pogo FB is great as advertized. it would have saved me once today, but like i said, i dropped the combo when i missed my P attack, and died, lol. about bursting the FB pull. i think a burst is more valuable than 25% tension, but have never had it happen to me, so maybe there's more to this? otherwise, i've seen people end matches with the pull FB when they have enough life. i think you can SB it too? lol, or dust it.
Raph_Stryker Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 well, in the corner, it can mess up strings. They really cant run past you if your in the corner pinned lol. Id say some vs HoS stuff, but this isnt really the right thread :0 with the scalpel pull fb, you can usually combo after they bounce back from just the bat half, but if you do the explosion part, yeah you can SB the explosion, and combo them. Doing the explosion part makes you not get hit by the burst though, cept the explosion still usually misses them.
uremog Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 is there a dust gatling chart? or you could just save the effort with one good normal dust combo and ID combo. i saw someone else post S,K,S(j)K,S,H for normal dust. just wondering since i've been getting some dusts lately. the ID i used in #R was ID H, land, K (j) K (j) K,S,H. i think. any upgrades? or which one's more effective?
Zinac Posted August 29, 2007 Author Posted August 29, 2007 is there a dust gatling chart? or you could just save the effort with one good normal dust combo and ID combo. i saw someone else post S,K,S(j)K,S,H for normal dust. just wondering since i've been getting some dusts lately. the ID i used in #R was ID H, land, K (j) K (j) K,S,H. i think. any upgrades? or which one's more effective? 5D > j.HS > (JC) > j.HS > (JC) > j.K > j.P > j.K > (JC) > j.K > j.P > j.HS Is the most basic, high damage, most easily excuted dust combo which 99% of the time. Two variations, that require a bit more control of distance are. 5D > j.HS > (JC) > j.HS > (JC) > j.K > j.K > j.K > (JC) > j.K > j.S > j.HS 5D > j.HS > (JC) > j.HS > (JC) > j.K > j.S > j.K > (JC) > j.K > j.S > j.HS The Impossible Dust combos for this game that actually do more damage are too impractical to use. Just do the normal AC dust homing combo.
Senkei Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 dont forget 5d hs-hs-k-p-k-jc-k-p-hs ohhh haha i was wondering were that combo came from
Zinac Posted August 29, 2007 Author Posted August 29, 2007 Sorry I posted an invalid combo, and somereason I can't edit my post 5D > j.HS > (JC) > j.HS > (JC) > j.K > j.K > j.K > (JC) > j.K > j.S > j.HS should be 5D > j.HS > (JC) > j.HS > (JC) > j.K > j.P > j.K > (JC) > j.K > j.S > j.HS
Calleidoscope Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 that's dust combo can't be used againts chipp and anji mito.can anyone post dust combo or impossible dust for anji and chipp
J00!!! Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Are there practical impossible dusts for Faust or is his standard dust combo better? From what I know there's no way to get a knockdown from his impossible dust (I could very well but wrong though). P.S. Anyone know the range on Faust's air throw or how it ranks against other character's air throws? From what I know it's not that great, but I'd be open to hearing any input.
uremog Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 zinac said on another thread there are no useful and practical IDs for faust. from my limited exp., faust's air throw has nothing great about it. i used to get a lot of air throws with dizzy in #R, but i've just been getting beat out with faust. maybe i just played scrubs then?
J00!!! Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 uremong: Yeah, I sorta figured it wasn't too great. I know the range sucks compared to Dizzy's for example. Only times I really got off an air throw was when it was very obvious. On another note, I was wondering if 5Hs would go over certain low attacks like some character's low dust. I'm sure it'll be situational, but has anyone used it consistently in certain situations or against certain character's low attack?
Darkshine Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 Okay, Okay. I guess I'm going to have to resort to asking this question... FDC Drill Kick: How do you do it? No matter how hard I bloody try, I can never pull it off.
Senkei Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 new dust combo works on bigger to mid size characters ..... HS hS S-k-S-k-jump k-S-HS(or Kick PUnch hard slash Darkshine....first of all if you want to even try to master this you need a stick secondly you need to practice more...my pointer finger was sore for a week when i was trying to learn it...i basically just immate what i do for FDC HS just i add kick in there but...it's wayy harder when you try to link it with combos....so really just practice get FDC HS down and then move of to fdc kick....
Zinac Posted September 15, 2007 Author Posted September 15, 2007 Okay, Okay. I guess I'm going to have to resort to asking this question... FDC Drill Kick: How do you do it? No matter how hard I bloody try, I can never pull it off. Just hold (down back), 1 on the numb pad, in the air, press kick and hold it, then immediently press slash, highslash or punch. You must press the second button as quickly as possible after pressing and holding kick. Now you have FDCed j.2k.
Aemaeth Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 Darkshine, this is how to do it on stick: Step 1: See if you can air brake (air dash with Faust and then FD) Step 2: jump up, airdash for a little while, and then FD Step 3: Jump up, roll your stick back 2->1 (well, DB at least), and then DRUM your FD buttons. For example, if you use P and K for FD, hit P then K in succession. LISTEN to the sound: if you can hear a gap between the buttons hit, then you're hitting them too slow. If you're just jumping up and FD'ing, you're doing it too fast. It'll take practice, but eventually you'll get it to work. Step 4: Add spices, rinse and repeat. you should "practice" using it with HS, since you're less likely to be punished than with K if you mess it up. I got a question: what can I do after a cancelled punch? After 2HS/5S -> P/2P/(item throw), are there many options? All I usually do is either 2HS ->P ->5s->236S --> air combo or 5S -> 2P/(item throw if too far away) -> (if I'm close) 2D -> 2S -> K -> air combo. I've also done stupid things like 2HS->P->5S->2P, etc. but I'm wondering if there are any other options.
Wirya Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 I just edited the encyclopedia thread. If there's anymore errors, tell me. I'll add more infos in it soon (combos, strats, etc).
Diirty_Kiickz Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 need help w/ sj.install combos......any suggestions?
Calleidoscope Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 SJ.Install combos: work on Sol,Slayer 6P(CH),2S,|8|,5K,SJ,K,S,K,J,K,S,H for JI you must press |8| after frame 2S finished and frame 5K still active.if you press 8 at right moment, faust will not jump.
Wirya Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 Okay I've edited the encyclopedia again. After reading the frame data, I figured out that there're many things that I had to add and to remove.
Zinac Posted September 24, 2007 Author Posted September 24, 2007 Ok so I'm considering making a Faust tutorial video. First I would like to assess the need. I'm confident that anything I would show already exists in the numerous match videos with Faust already, but some people might not be able see it right off the bat. I would like to include: - special counters to character specific attacks - strategies and general game play goals for Faust. - some B&B combos for good measure. - basic Faust "techniques" which mainly use Drill Canceling. - Okizeme Followups Now I'm pretty busy as it is, and not an expert video editor, nor do I have very advanced equipment to efficiently produce such a video. I have some free software which often crashes/incompatible with certain formats. I would however like to insert freeze frames, and highlight things on the screen to which I would like to add descriptions. If anyone is interested, and would really like to see a tutorial vid, please let me know, and I would gladly take suggestions.
Calleidoscope Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 i'm interested about you making faust tutorial video that's must be cool and useful for newbie to learn faust
DarthTrey Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I would definitely love to see something like that Zinac, It's true that you can get a lot from the match videos, but it would be cool to see something where you freeze frame and maybe popup some text explaining say why player X did action Y at that specific time(spacing, slashback, ect.) just to highlight stuff that n00bs such as my self may have missed
Zanken Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Would love to see some good combos off the handslap, at the moment I'm struggling to get more than 5S to item anywhere but the corner. Also ways of escaping pressure might be helpful too. I know he doesn't have many options, but anything would help really.
FallingEdge Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Posted in the wrong place before, sorry again Zinac. -------- I'm not new to GG but I just started playing AC seriously and I am prolly gonna pick up Faust as my main. He's damn fun and I love his mixup/zone game but for me, the biggest problem I have is when I am getting rushed down. I really don't know what to do and then just get overwhelmed and start to mash ish out which then causes me to lose. Also, I think I may have just missed it but what's a good follow up to Faust's hand slap dust break? Thanks in advance for the help guys!
Zinac Posted September 28, 2007 Author Posted September 28, 2007 Unfortunently Faust doesn't have that many options when enemies poke from a close distance. He basically has 3 things, standing punch, crouching punch, and close Slash. My suggestion is that you just block for now. Why I tell you this is because you can then pay attention to your enemy's pressure. You can watch for patterns and ways out. You can learn to make use of Perfect guard, and instant blocking to improve your defense too.
