Scottie Yosh Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 and some jin dp combos whiffed :x Who else sees little use in air buster? Or atleast pretty character specific.
Mucky Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 At first I didn't see a use either. But if j.360 works the way I think it does, its application is in those "AWP, he's jumping while magnetized but I'm in the air so I can't do AC" situations.
Ctrlaltwtf Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Tager was too fat for Lambda's midscreen 236C > 236D link. So being big has worked in his favor at least once. He's also too fat for Hazama's 3C->Mizuchi off of Rising Fang. Although that will cease to matter in CP I suppose :p

Moy_X7 Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 I remember seeing some crap like (Magnetized) Combo > Air Combo > Air Pink Throw *throw gets teched* > j.360 and it pulled the opponent after they teched. I wonder if there's a way around that and if it will be a viable gimmick lol.
toanenadiz Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Does it have invincibility? Wouldn't mashing buttons work if it isn't? Or push comes to shove, always air dash back after teching throws. The pull shouldn't be that strong.
mAc Chaos Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Well, it's a 360 so I figure it has the same invincibility as the 360A does. Because I think it has the same damage. Oh wait maybe it's 360B damage hmmmm...

Moy_X7 Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 > viable > gimmick > mfw Hey, Jin's corner reset gimmicks are pretty damn viable lol. Ah, here I thought that it had I-frames or something. Looks like I'll just have to j.C him in the face as both Plat and Jin lol.
TagerTime Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Does it have invincibility? Wouldn't mashing buttons work if it isn't? Or push comes to shove, always air dash back after teching throws. The pull shouldn't be that strong. Every time i seen them do it is when they have the opponent in the corner and cant back dash away. Another use i see for air buster is for regular air tech traps. Just time it so you jump and the grab them immediately after the last frame of their invincibility from their air tech is over, unless its possible for them to cancel their air tech into an air reversal.
Osuna Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 especially if it grabs you even if youre groundedIt doesn't I remember seeing some crap like (Magnetized) Combo > Air Combo > Air Pink Throw *throw gets teched* > j.360 and it pulled the opponent after they teched. I wonder if there's a way around that and if it will be a viable gimmick lol.If you do anything except air dash or wait 120 frames you should beat that tech trap. Well, it's a 360 so I figure it has the same invincibility as the 360A does. Because I think it has the same damage. Oh wait maybe it's 360B damage hmmmm... Very slightly more damage than 360A, like 100 more. The not quite the best of either world. All in all 360C ain't no APB because of the clear mechanical differences and the system differences, but I'm sure there is a very very limited application for it.
TagerTime Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Air buster can also be used to bait Tick throw jump outs! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2AbKQRFtLE&list=PLmvZt7egaTbJws9VbO5yfnMNJGbUUvofs&index=9#t=1m56s
Osuna Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 I'm Hoping Collider combos shape up enough to make that obsolete. I Do however want to do tick throws in the air.
Fujiwara Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 How does a 13ton metalman super double jump for air 360, but has no air dash. whut.
toanenadiz Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 I'm Hoping Collider combos shape up enough to make that obsolete. I Do however want to do tick throws in the air. What does Tager currently get off of Collider in CP?
DeadliestxXx Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 mid screen you can do 2D, gadget finger or iirc you can do 6C>stuff>GP. Otherwise the corner is where he gets his cool stuff
Osuna Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 What does Tager currently get off of Collider in CP? The last thing I saw a Tager do was AC, 2D/endcombo. I'm hoping we can combo to and from Bsledge into mag comfortably eventually
Mucky Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 There's something that seems counter-intuitive about giving corner-specific combos to a character with virtually no corner carry. Not that I'm complaining.
A.X.I.S. Posted December 6, 2012 Author Posted December 6, 2012 What does Tager currently get off of Collider in CP? Midscreen: AC > 2D AC > GF AC > Spark > MTW Corner: AC > 6C > J.D > 5C > 4D > stuff The last thing I saw a Tager do was AC, 2D/endcombo. I'm hoping we can combo to and from Bsledge into mag comfortably eventually The untech time of AC is the same but the bounce is so high that they tech before hitting the ground. I remember in a loctest vid they tried to use AC > j.D whiff > 5B and it blue beat, he just missed doing elbow. Probably does not work now since the game has a time based combo system like CT.
mAc Chaos Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Do you guys think Gadget Fling still works. Is it even worth it if it did. Nobody ever uses it anymore even in Extend.

It is more than that the bounce is higher, otherwise we could pull them to the ground and do otg combos right? Untechable time in the air and on the ground are different (unless they changed it). I'm still not 100% sold on the time based tech system being confirmed, I think he was maybe over simplifying things for the layperson and it got lost in translation. Might be just me hoping but I feel like I have reason to doubt. It was really stupid and did things in CT like makes some combos not work on CH. Do you guys think Gadget Fling still works. Is it even worth it if it did. Nobody ever uses it anymore even in Extend. It got way less useful when they buffed 5A because GF no longer sucked and necessitated the use of meter to be an actually meaningful mix up. I heard it still works, but haven't seen it.

I think you may be right, the way the explained was similar to CT but it wasn't. Landing a hit and based on the attack gives you a certain amount of time to do your combo was what was said but even then it bugs me. AC probably has shortened untech time along with the bounce and I honestly still want to see more things from Tager.
Osuna Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 I only just now looked at the proration changes and they are weird. I'm not sure it means in the long run, but there were a lot of p2 nerfs and p1 buffs, so how that might average out is hard for me to grasp at the moment.
