Jyosua Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 All the west coast people are either playing Marvel, P4U, or GG nowadays. Plebian's Playground is only a pipe dream for me. That's not true. I play and I'm west coast. You've played against me recently! I also know a couple others that do, but West Coast also tends to have more people who refuse to netplay at all.
YukiBlue Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 (edited) How can anyone in America complain about being stuck Online? Really? In the EU we're limited to local offline sessions. I do those about once a week. And then every year I travel a few miles for a tournament with roughly 80 people. Other than that I'm just an online player. In America, You have a lot of Tournaments both east and west coasts. You have EVO, Curleh, NWM, B2 and loads of other events on either side that are easy to travel to. I'm heading to London next week to play. Thats a 3hr ride from the top of the country. If I lived in America I'd just make the effort, because you have it amazing over there. Regardless of where you are. Heck, Even your Online is more populated than it is here. - Also. Even more off Topic. DL is elitist as hell. We all know the names but we never say them. The shit really needs to stop. I haven't seen a lot of new faces since I landed here a while ago. Half the time It's the few same people lording it over- *Leaves. Apologies for Off Top* Edited January 16, 2013 by YukiBlue
mAc Chaos Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Really. I haven't seen anything in a long time as far as being unwelcoming. All the subforums are very helpful. And then there's the beginner mode forums.
YukiBlue Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Nothing has been unwelcoming in a while because nobody new has joined haha. Also, the character subforums are largely great. But some are definitely more welcoming that others. 2 Spring to mind and the rest are just cool. I remember a while ago a guy posted in the BM section complaining about the fact he didn't know how to combo properly, he went on to talk about his mindset, problems with his hands and getting psyched out in matches and panicking. He pretty much got his ass handed to him by about 5 people repeatedly before anyone posted anything of even the slightest bit of worth. That's not the image I want DL to have. We've all been here long enough to understand that sometimes you literally just have to deal with it. Every forum has it's arseholes. But I'd just prefer it if it were kept to "x" characters general thread or something. The UK thread is a prime example. We're all assholes, but that's the correct place to do it. Okay. I'll stop. Promise.
Jyosua Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Driving to a tournament in-state here can take 3-6 hours depending on the state and locations. Not every state has a scene alive enough to even have weeklies. I used to live in one of those states. The US is massive, so even though we have more events than Europe it costs more money to travel, and scenes are likely to be more dead because everyone is so spread out. Don't just assume that the entire US has it great and people are just lazy.

You could grab the train or even fly if the Tournament / Scene was active for long enough. I'm staying in London for 3 Days, That's like £150 in total. For once a year, that isn't bad at all.
Jyosua Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Lol, I never said none of us are lazy. Trains for practical travel nearly don't exist in a lot of places. Travel can cost upwards of 500+ USD for a 3 day tournament. I'm fortunate enough to have moved to california where we have weeklies (for P4A) biweeklies (for everything else) and I can feasibly make it to 4 majors. But if you live in a place not on the coast, good fucking luck. The truth of the matter is we're all screwed for enjoying anime games but not living in Japan.
Litherain-XIII Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I use to have a scene in Atlanat GA but they moved out and closed the place a few years back so i have no particular scene close to me other than probably florida. But honestly i dont have the money to get the gas for that kind of drive due to college and schedule with working. Just driving to college alone kills most of my cash. I would love to have a scene towards my location i definietly would love that. Problem is theres barely anyone here in GA to play with and if there are, chances are they arent many at all or are totally unknown individuals.
Jyosua Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Talk to TheGreatReptar for Georgia. They still have a small scene there.
Joeby185 Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Im also in the boat in not being able to travel to casuals and what not (expense issues). I agree I would also like to get BB back up but some people are need to stop bashing their own game it doesn't look good. I am currently trying to get several people into BB at the moment. I agree with a lot with what you are saying xntrikcat, maybe people will have more patience when BBCP releases. Im down for the tourney thing I will talk to some people I know about it I want BB to be more hype lol People just need to unite instead of trashing each others character.

With my current financial situation I really can't justify spending $300'ish for the sake of playing videogames that I already play at home anyway. It would be downright irresponsible to myself as a student who's sitting on a mountain of debt that continuously increases every month. Most people would tell me I shouldn't be buying videogames at all right now (hah, like that'll happen). Especially seeing as most local scenes are like only 1-2 days long and only play the game I want for like 3 hours.... People just need to unite instead of trashing each others character. BB really does have some garbage characters, is the problem
pochp Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 I think this is a good idea overall. More content should help hype up the game, no matter what the format chosen is, as long as it's streamed and even more if it's commentated. My schedule is a bit random, but if I'm available, I'd love to participate. I don't think I'd be able to give good advice on the formats though, as I don't really have any experience with netplay events.
