BlazBlue gave me a strong competitive hobby

Guilty Gear made me laugh at old people.

P4A reaffirmed my feelings for BlazBlue.

Well, there's quite a bit, but the main points are:

I learned I am terrible at fighting games.

Despite this, I still love the genre more than most others.

They've led me to Dustloop and all you wonderful motherfuckers.

Through Dustloop I've learned a wealth of fighting game terminology and strategies I'll never be able to use due to my aforementioned lack of skill.

Blazblue specifically has taught me that even if you try your best to learn everything there is to know about a story, does not mean you will have any idea what the fuck is going on.

These games have also led me to glorious piles of totally rocking music.

They've also been a wonderful source of inspiration for mounds and mounds of fanart.

BB: Helped me get into fighters a little bit more than just mashing single player modes. On the flipside it brought to my attention that I have a comdeically short fuse. This game also made me learn that I will despise any character that wields a sword more than half their size. Another lesson was that I'm not any good at fighters and that it's rare when I ever find a gameplay archetype that works for me.

Still fun though.

Persona on the other hand. :vbang:

Guilty Gear and BlazBlue let me express a comedic side with comics with their ridiculous stories and well designed sprites.

Through my comics I made lots of interesting friends but abruptly lost most of them, making me cold and callous towards internet friendships.

Guilty Gear taught me that Arc System Works are terrible people for compressing the images in Guilty Gear and making my life hard. Give me the damn gallery images V:

On a more serious (and less Arcsys related) note, FGs brought me to my current major, thanks to people needing arcade stick mods. Probably the biggest change I've made in my life.

Blazblue made playing with friends boring enough that it made me go out and find the (at the time, seemingly mystical) competitive scene for games. That alone has impacted my life in more ways than I can imagine.

Guilty Gear helped me to learn stick and realize what a good game is.

Arcsys games taught me that i'm not good at the only thing I thought I was good at in my whole life which was video games

But I guess since I met a bunch of really cool people who put up with my badness its all good

GG gave my thumb blisters, but saved me from playing smash

All 3 have created a gigantic backlog of non-fighting games for me to play :v:

I used to play BB just for shits since no one knew what it was. When I got to college I met some people my second year through Smash Bros. that were playing fighters like P4A, which is when I first played on a fight stick. Only game I ever played competitively was Smash, so I wanted to change the pace and learn a different game. I bought and modded my own stick and got into P4A, but rediscovered my love for BB through picking up Extend. There's now a group of people through school that I can practice with. A little late to the Extend game, but I'm really excited for CP and trying to get competent enough in Extend that I could find some local tournaments to compete in. GG is cool but there's a dude that we all pretty much hate who exclusively plays that and hates basically every other fighter ever, especially BB and P4A, so that kinda ruined it for me. I still think GG is cool for what it is but that kinda killed the motivation to want to play.

Seein' a lot of hate for Smash in this thread, haha. Oh well, that's to be expected I guess.

I learned that there were people better than me. After playing fighting games for years without any real opponent, I got schooled by gg pros.

GG introduce me to anime games, plus my love for combos (and dropping them)

BB+ Netcode gave me means to troll people without leaving my house, and even more so when I do.

P4A gave me cancer (and my habit of picking top tiers so I guess it made the scumbag I am today. lol)

Met my waifu through P4, besides that the best thing that FGs have done is gotten me a drinking problem thanks to other people w/ drinking problems. Fuck fighting games. :eng101:
