Pichy Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 So the Rion on your team was the UNIEL player, right? Is Xrd his first time playing a GG?
Clousephinat Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 TheRealBobMan: If you can, ask if they are planning to add the old soundtrack to the game since it's seems they are not planning to include any DLC for the time being, and if you must... Tell him he can expect a young boy (although I'm not that young anymore) to pay at least 20$ or probably even more if only he could get the old soundtrack to the new GG, and I'm sure any good fan of the GG series would be happy to do the same. Ask also about the story mode, basically, we can expect this new GG to be like #R, in which you had to play in one way or another in order to achieve different endings, or just like AC/BB, in which you must select one answer or another in order to achieve different endings? And if you must... Add the fact that The Midnight Carnival storyline was way much better than AC because of this (among many other things, of course), it would be great if we can expect something similar to that, at the very least.
Coffeeling Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 I really love what they've done with Zato-1 #R -> Xrd. Still a broken, hyperversatile monster that makes you "feel a fear", but "sidegraded" into less unblockable setups and a stronger, more oppressive neutral game with mini Eddie break the law and summon from drill puddles, which is both nice in a being a scary evil mofo sense but gives more room for personality on Zato's part and lets the opponent do unexpected stunts to gain the upper hand. I want to get my hands on the game already (and know whether ps3 will perform well so I can grab it and have a proper training mode for VSav and 3S) ;_; Also wtf @ KOF13 being too lenient let alone comparable to SF4 leniency. And please let the "Smash is not a fighting game" meme die already. It's just desperate, elitist justification for personal tastes. In other words, it's really damn sad. It's also bigtime self sabotage. You know why? Smash is a fast, high execution, high freedom of movement movement game with a strong air game. You know what that sounds like to me? It sounds like KOF(13) and GG. I play KOF and GG because Smash made me love the freedom of movement. I suspect the Smash community would be far more fruitful a recruitment ground than the SF4 one. It's a far more similar game, after all.
D.R.F. Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 This is correct. We lost to FAB team and got sent to losers. I OCVed a 4 man team in losers finals and then we lost to the sick 16 dan Ramlethal on FAB team in final match I swear man FAB makes pot look like a top 5 character lol. The way people use rammys sword pressure is some pretty real stuff too
r0b0t Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Most of the small nitpicks that you mentioned and things that Mike Z mentioned were things I also found a bit jarring during loketests and right after release, but as time went on I got used to all that stuff and it doesn’t bother me at all anymore. The bottme line is that you said you had fun and think of how much more fun you will have once there is a large, competative scene to fight and you actually know what you are doing in the game! Good luck with Ishiwatari-san tomorrow. I cannot wait, however I am rather jealous of you man, if Evo 2015 host GG Xrd and you were to come over you would probably crush Americans with your Japanese EXP. You have the ultimate GG scene!
AllyOfJustice Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Man, if Daigo started playing Xrd, that would be the biggest push the game will get. I think he was a Sol player at some point
king of heart Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 http://youtu.be/NGNpf5aDeoI Burst grab on 13:13 by K Sol I was there BTW that's why i remember this moment. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

youcanwonder Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Real Bob man ask him about an animal and tell them they need to put one out lol. As for the super cinematic cut scenes...no one birches about iv's cut scenes..so I'm sure the rest of u will get over it. My only concern would be if it interferes w buttons by the other player pike iv does. Super comes on just as u push the button..but bc of the cut scene animation it doesn't register..that kinda shit passes me off...oh and auto corrects man I hope they are not in the game... Do an upper one way but comes out the other way bc they were crossed up..gtfoh lol
Clousephinat Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 The most scary thing about Zato=ONE in Xrd is that you can perform combos with 236K in the corner to your heart's content, and of course, since there's the new D6 stuff, that leads to even more damage without the need of RC, and only a few exceptions already present in previous games like 5HS (CH)>D with Ky can match this.

Coffeeling Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 SPACE OPERA SYMPHONY! GOODBYE! ;__; Xrd supers seem mercifully short most of the time.
D.R.F. Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 SPACE OPERA SYMPHONY! GOODBYE! ;__; Xrd supers seem mercifully short most of the time. they really are, unless you have some irrational problem with how long millions winger or i-nos ground super is. then Idk lol
youcanwonder Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 It wasn't suppose to say animals but anime stupid auto correct
BlackYakuzu94 Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 SPACE OPERA SYMPHONY! GOODBYE! ;__; Xrd supers seem mercifully short most of the time. Short and to the point is nice.
TheSlyMoogle Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 So I am going to rant about smash, but I get to the popularity/marketing bit in a second. So I get where your coming from, it pisses me off that so many kids are enamored by a game like smash, which I do not consider a fighting game. My girlfriend gets mad when I talk shit about it. But at the same time I know why people like it, you can just pick up a controller and hit buttons and for the most part the game seems easy that way. Sure it has its strategies and high level play. But in all seriousness the game is simple when it comes down to it. But its popularity dwarfs our favorite game, Guilty Gear. Now simplicity is not the only reason, there is decades of Nintendo characters/lore/nostalgia built into smash and that also makes it appealing to people across several generations. But you wanna know why we could of never hoped for any hype for Xrd at E3? Arcsys is not trying hard enough, and I am not even going to begin on why you should not blame aksys. But you should know that this is Arcsys fault, they are not marketing the game here. For whatever reason they are happy just getting whatever sales they can from it and being done with it. When Vanillia Marvel Vs Capcom 3 cameout I remember seeing commercials during NBA games for MvC3. And I am not placing marvels popularity soley on commercials, but capcom at least was putting in work to market their game for North America. Things Arcsys could have done to help GG #1 Not go on gamespot, no one gives a flying fuck about gamespot. Hasbeen website. #2 Get some mainstage time for the game, LIKE NINtendo DID for smash. #3 Get on the twitch.tv Schedule for E3. #4 Market the game in the US, maybe some Twitch.tv Commercials? #5 Give a fuck about the US. In the end I still believe XRD will have a vibrant scene here regardless of the lack of marketing from Arcsys, but without support from companies like Arcsys in NA we cannot expect a whole lot of growth for XRD popularity imo. The GG scene will be a bunch of OGs like myself and some BB/P4A players, and I doubt there will be many if any tournaments that break 200+ entrants for the game EVO standing the only chance of that. Correct me if I am wrong. Those are all good points, but I doubt Arcsys has the money to throw at stuff like other companies. Honestly a nice gesture would have been to invite the guilty gear community to come to an event and have tournaments and stream it. Blow it up on streams, get websites to post up about it, get that hype out there. It doesn't have to be on such a large scale. I honestly got into this game because I saw a small add for it on a website back in 2004 and went "Oh wow, this looks like an anime, I want to play it" I already had a love for fighting games, and that one anime looking add did it. If I could have seen good footage of the game back then it wouldn't have taken me so long to actually get seriously into it. If that is true I am really happy with that, I hope Guilty Gear will have the same success if not better. I just remember how Guilty in the past has always been treated like a second class citizen, especially by EVO. I want the game to be popular so it can join the ranks of main games at events like EVO that return year after year. I am just afraid it wont cause Arc wont push the game here. However at one point it was one of, if not the biggest fighting game in the scene for a couple of years. Around the days of slash and AC releasing. We had a final round after AC dropped with over 150 entrants to GG and this was when we still had to import that damn game and use some sort of PS2 hacks to play it. The game hit a street fighter style lull in new versions. I think there are enough people who loved GG who will play Xrd. I mean 6 years without a new version got boring. My character isn't even in Xrd and I'm excited enough about it that I will probably take the time to travel to tournaments for it again. I'm OG and I'm all hyped up for it.

I actually may have been at that tournament, if I remember correctly it was 156 exactly. My point isn that we wont have a decent scene for XRD, but I want that Capcom level hype for our game. And I just feel like there are two things standing in the way. #1 An american presense by Arcsys(not Aksys) #2 Decent online play. (which I want to believe we will get "playable" online play with XRD.) So in short I am super excited to play XRD. I am going to take a week off for it whenever I find out the launch date, I am hosting a Launch party at my house for all of houston to go to. (Probably Launch weekend not day of.) And I will be streaming from my main setup in my living room. So all of you can see what the week 1 Houston talent is doing! So I am doing everything I can to help bring hype and popularity to XRD. I just wish Arcsys cared about NA or the rest of the world as much as we do! Some would say I should be happy were even getting a port, However I am charging Arcsys with neglect anyway. And I want them to change that. What makes me feel neglected you might ask. Arc's poor attempt at trying to get their game the exposure it deserves! A gamespot interview with a know nothing interviewer? Comon! Its E3 for god sakes, Go Bigger! Lastly after watching some sol vids I cannot wait to play. I sometimes wish I lived in Japan, you guys wont believe me, but I am pretty sure I would be as good if not better than machaboo. Instead the world would be saying, man did you see those R0b0t vids? He beat Ogawa! Wut! I am serious.
Fenrir Werwolf Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Those are all good points, but I doubt Arcsys has the money to throw at stuff like other companies. Not only for xrd (the release stream, torunament after a wile, etc) but also for GG2, if I rememeber well! there was also ufficial matches with commentary in the xbox store (not sure if they still exist) Things in the west is handled by Aksys. I dunno, still, how much easy is to setup some event at E3, or if it even possible. But yeah, having tournaments streamed on pre-release would be cool to gather some hype
FinalDoomGuy Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Ishiwatari explains that although the previous Guilty Gear games would not accept buffered inputs in a number of situations, Xrd will now allow it, as the development team heard that newer players would find it difficult to execute those commands without buffered inputs. That doesn't sound dumbed down to me at all. That seems like an objective improvement as long as it isn't so loose that you get the wrong commands like what happens sometimes in SF and KOF13. It just baffles me how anyone could think "smoother inputs" = "dumbed down". I mean, other than people that use casual as a slur. Your dick doesn't get bigger everytime you screw up a DP input, so nothing of value is lost when you make the input system a little less clunky.
TheRealBobMan Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 I'm really sorry, but I couldn't talk to him about anything. They really wanted to get people in and out in an hour, and any chance I had to say/ask anything wound up going to him liking my shirt (the Jellyfish Pirate shirt from brokentier) and asking me where I got it before Aksys nudged me out. They weren't even going to let me ask to have my soundtrack signed and instead were going to make me get a signed poster, but when he saw me holding the Best Sound Collection he offered to sign that for me. So uh... looks like tension pulse doesn't exist anymore. I tested it a little more thoroughly today and there's no difference that I could tell between meter gain when staying in the other player's face and meter gain during negative warning. That said, you still get meter for "acting aggressive", and you get a lot of it. I suppose doing it this way still rewards moving toward the opponent without punishing zoning too much? Negative Penalty is still a thing and you lose all your meter along with having an extended period of time (probably still 10 seconds) where you can't build meter, but you don't get reduced meter gain when your pulse is low. I managed to beat Crosswise Heel clean with I-No's IK, among other moves. Also tried Slayer's IK out when I got one lapse in the line and played against a CPU, and it also seems pretty invul. IK's might universally be DPs, but again, I couldn't test too thoroughly in that environment. I don't expect people to be winning tournaments with this, but if you're not prepared you could get screwed pretty bad by IKs this time around. Before there was the issue that it was unsafe to go into IK mode, but it's quite a bit safer even without the screen freeze because of time slow RC. You can use a move with untechable knockdown or plummet or something, then RC > IK mode and be safe. It'd be high commitment to make it worthwhile (would probably want 100% so you wouldn't bleed to death), but you could win a round off of a gamble this way. Also, because Mortal Counters have so much stun it might lead to IK setups, which might help you make a comeback when you're otherwise screwed I guess we should expect some great Kusoru vids. On that note, I think out of all 3 days I saw Danger Time 4 times, and never had it happen myself despite multiple clashes during my games. When Axl beats Sol, he outright calls him Freddie. When Axl does his introduction vs I-No, he says he's been looking for her chest. She tells him to get out of her timeline. While I don't think you get meter for it, it looks like the game is doing that thing from BB where if you IB the first hit of a multi-hit move, you'll IB all the hits. I IB'd Rensen and got the "Just" icon 4 times and flashed 4 times.
D.R.F. Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Its all good dude, great to know you got something signed. Ima miss tension pulse(kinda ahha) but everything else sounds cool

ElvenShadow Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 well you guys did work[emoji106]and whats making you come back to america?:0[/quote It's my own choice. I want to get a better job. My current job has no opportunity for advancement and my wife and I plan to have a kid in the near future. I miss things back home too. I'm gonna do all I can to build and support the GG scene in the US. I'll still visit Japan every year for the rest of my life most likely. Might even move back again some day. Who knows.
