Fenrir Werwolf Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Xrd will be displayed at Anime expo! https://twitter.com/aksysgames/status/481889689864273920 Someone going could ask something to the aksys at their booth? Quoting myself, those are the important point to know: Please ask the only thing that we really care about: -release date -Consoles differences (framerate, what's the most arcade perfect etc) -The game is region free? Actually quite important to know for eurofriends -ps3 stick compability (according to sony, it's up to the developers) -Online features (no lobby like +R plz) and such -Why there isn't still a temple dedicated to Daisuke Ishiwatari with a giant statue of him in the middle for everyone to revere Personal: Will we ever have GG3 as a sequel to GG2?

Quoting myself, those are the important point to know: With the online features thing, its also better to point out how netcode is really important for a FGs life outside japan, especially over large distances, and i know that ASW as made good netcode in the past but its always best to always point this out everytime And a EU release, thats pretty important, if its something like a 1 month wait i can manage, if its just gonna be 7 months to years of wait i'll just get US version
DaiAndOh Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 It was already stated the only console version differences will be 720 vs 1080 display, framerate will be the same.Online features were stated that they weren't going to use BB's Arcade lobby system since it ended up hurting other parts of the netcode, but are trying to optimize it best they can.
Layer Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 I'm going to be attending atleast two days of Anime Expo, so I'll be sure to try to ask the Aksys guys some questions. Let me know what you want me to ask, though I will be sure to ask if it's region free since I know the EU folks usually get jipped when it comes to localization.

Ask them if they're going to make the next Blazblue more "simplified" like Xrd. Also, ask them if they're working on new characters. The thought of them releasing Xrd and just leaving the roster like that is pretty depressing. It's like a middle finger to all the old Guilty Gear fans.
Henaki Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Ask them if they're going to make the next Blazblue more "simplified" like Xrd. Also, ask them if they're working on new characters. The thought of them releasing Xrd and just leaving the roster like that is pretty depressing. It's like a middle finger to all the old Guilty Gear fans. its less of a middle finger and more likely a resource issue. unless you mean they literally all lost their middle fingers, yakuza style, and are drawing and typing at 80% efficiency, in which case, sorry for misinterpreting your post.
AllyOfJustice Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Everyone knows Sin is the extra character. Still the current roster is depressing to look at. Newcomers to the series aren't going to be impressed by Xrd's cast and fans of the old games would be disappointed because their mains aren't in it. Personally I would prefer them releasing the game in 2015 it means more characters.
Appledash- Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Or they could release it now and just add more. Sent from my RM-917_nam_usa_100 using Tapatalk

I will make sure not to ask them that for I already know Aksys will likely have no comment since they don't develop the games. And we know you don't like the fact they don't have a big roster, we get it man. You don't need to bring it up every couple pages in this thread. Maybe I should've made my original post more clear: let me know what you want me to ask Aksys. So keep in mind Aksys won't likely know the full details of certain aspects and are probably gonna be more incline to answer localization questions.
StayFree( ' 3') Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I wish they mentioned this earlier than a month left....would have motivated me to come to EVO more...-_- For those of you that can't make it to either AX or EVO, Xrd will also be playable at GameStop Expo in September. ...StayFree has spoken
Jocelot Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I notice as I watch a lot of USFIV footage to counterbalance my GGXrd footage that there are a lot more trades in the former. Moves don't trade nearly as much in GG as SFIV. USFIV has a 'priority' system to moves like GG, right? Is it then because of the 'higher/lower body invincibility' a lot of the arksys games do or does Street Fighter have that to? I notice mostly during the 'killcam' (lack of a better word, sorry) shots when one player defeats another in Xrd. Most of the time one move flat out beats another. While in SFIV some of the metagame almost revolved around trades (like how a dude like Ryu could get hit out of his shoryu but still juggle the opponent into Metsu in Vanilla and all sorts of Sagat bullshittery). Not trying to bash SFIV, I just, I dunno. Got curious.
AllyOfJustice Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 SFIV is way too different to compare to Guilty Gear. Compare GG to Blazblue or Persona 4 Arena instead. "Anime airdashers"

The arcade style lobbies won't be in Xrd? That kinda stinks. ;_; That was the one of the things that made BBCP really fun in my opinion but if leaving it out means having better netcode like they said, fine by me.

Pichy Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Jocelot: It is indeed as you suspected. Antiair normals trade a whole lot less in Arc System Works games because of upper body/above knees/what have you invulnerability on a lot of the moves that you usually use for those situations. In other situations where trades would often occur, clashes happen instead. The games use the invulnerable attributes on certain moves so there can be solid antiairs while allowing for much stronger air normals. If you take your approach from the air cleverly, you can get in without fear of a Sakura cr.HP ruining your day every time, but at the same time if you're just IADing all day you're going to whacked by that 6P and hate yourself. SF4 has a lot of DP trades because of a conceptual goal from the start of the game. Capcom's logic was that if DPs have less invulnerability frames, they won't be as scary to deal with to newcomers. Due to the way juggles work in that game it has of course led to the notorious traded Tiger Uppercut -> towards Roundhouse -> Ultra that has brought much woe to people. You'll want to be careful using the word "priority". It's one that can cause people to blow their tops since it causes misunderstandings about how moves interact with each other in fighting games. It's all about hitboxes, active frames and invulnerability frames to determine what beats what when. EDIT: AllyOfJustice - 2D fighters can always have comparisons run between them, as analysing how each game handles the basic rules of the genre can greatly improve your understanding of the games you like.
shtkn Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 what a coinicidence! i made these diagrams explaining this stuff a few days ago! http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=Attack_Attributes_(GGXRD)#Invincibility
TheRealBobMan Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I really like the arcade lobbies too. It just seems like Blazblue does everything better. I want to like Xrd but it's hard. Xrd isn't even out and you're saying it's not as good as BB? What? How about waiting to find out what features it has before ragging on the netplay which isn't implemented yet? If you don't like something, you don't like it, but at least be fair about it. It seems silly to have this attitude when the game isn't complete yet and as far as I know you haven't tried it. Anyway, as far as localization questions, remember that I already asked about Europe and as Aksys doesn't handle localization operations there, they have no feedback that they can give. The only thing they were able to tell me was that it's really hard to release a product in Europe without a physical presence there.
chun_li1 Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Jocelot : SF4 moves all tend to have small active times. Also small hitboxes (compared to other SF Titles like ST). Another thing : What you see is not always what you get. e.g. People landing on Fireballs. In any other game, they would get hit b4 they land. In SF4, you land and block it. (fireball hitbox is as bis as a Pixel? lolz)
4r5 Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 SF4 hitboxes are fucked up. What the hell would of happened if SKill didn't tell them to atleast clean up their active frames. Ironicly, KI's hitboxes are crazy crisp.

It seems silly to have this attitude when the game isn't complete yet and as far as I know you haven't tried it. I said it seems BB is better. Because everything I want in Xrd is in Chronophantasma. Online arcade lobbies, big roster, flashy supers, etc. Stuff like more wakeup/oki options, overdrive. I almost want them to implement rolling wakeups but of course that would make Xrd too similar to BB. It just feels like they put more love and effort into BB. The story mode is a lot better and the characters are more fleshed out/developed. BB also has a lot more content than GG. Tyrant Rave, Ride the Lightning and many other moves just look underwhelming in Xrd. Danger Time and Blitz Shield just slows down the already slower pace of battles. No more FRCs. The music in Xrd is garbage compared to Accent Core. The thing that annoys me is I want to like Guilty Gear more. But Xrd isn't letting me.
Antaiseito Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 ^ Why don't you play BB then if it has everything you want, instead of wanting to like a game that (presumably) has nothing you enjoy? .. how do you even know about Xrd's story mode and content? Did i miss something?
Poultrygeist Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Flashy supers? I don't see how BB's supers are flashier than Xrd's at all. I haven't seen any game with flashier supers than Xrd's TBH.
