I love it.

Anybody have any idea who that witch flying around in near the beginning of Chipp vs. Axl might be? (2nd vid)

Also, I love how they brought back Axl's win pose where he laughs like the biggest dork.

i don't think it's an important character just a witch flying to get to the witch-ceremony or something Halloween-holiday in the guilty gear world.

it looks like a witch town.. because after the train reach the town there looks like more witches are flying around the town in the night.. is not only one. there's lots of those witches flying around the Halloween town. but you can barely tell them from the small screen. hope to see a real witch with a broom later as a character besides i-no which i don't consider a witch at all.

yes indeed! and if you pay enough attention to the stage there's lots of flying witches around the town, they just look like bright dots flying around because they are far away from the train... cool even the stages look awesome in this game.

I saw the Paris influence too, but I wonder if it is kind of a homage to the Isuka England stage. Axl has that London vibe, and the England stage in Isuka had witches also.

You guys can clearly see what whiffed blitz shield looks like in the vids. Faust also gets countered by it in one vid so you can see how long he is in vulnerable state. It happens vs Chipp at 40 second mark. Chipp slashes him out of it. The effect lasts just slightly longer.

As for VCL it did look slightly shorter but not that bad

What really got shorter is pile bunker range

Faust's animations are looking nice. Now, we just need to see Eddie at some point. Hopefully he'll be in the next test.

I noticed in Chipp vs Axl movie that beat counter went dark on combo 2H, D from Axl. Chipp was not mashing and combo happened, but beat went black.

Also noticed that all Dust attacks have a medium sized red flash around frame 1 of start-up. To make blocking them less dependent on animation i guess? Because first frames of some dust attacks are pretty indistinguishable in current GG.

Kenji: I'm so fucking hype!! I think this game might actually be better than reload!!! I told my gf we aren't together for a month when this comes out.

Going forward, a major concern we should have is whether the PS3 version will be viable for tournament play, due to the potential for added bugs and differences in framerate/input lag. I think it's a given that the PS4 version will be the only truly arcade-perfect one.

Any future revisions of Xrd will likely be exclusive to the PS4. Arc is probably just releasing a gimped version of the first one on PS3 to ease the transition.

Or maybe both versions are going to be arcade-perfect, you know, since UE3 is geared towards PS3 and its generation? It's not like the PS4 version needs any reason to be bought over the PS3 one besides being on a different platform with different online options.

PS3 version will have worse graphics than PS4, that alone makes it not arcade perfect. UE3 being made for current gen only goes so far, if the graphics you're pushing are beyond PS3 capabilities and you have to cut corners to shove it onto the system. We won't know for sure how it plays until people get their hands on the PS3 version.

While this is not necessarily true, it's something we will only be able to verify once it actually happens, so we shouldn't worry about it until release.

The fact that they decided to do a PS4 -and PS3- release shows they believe enough of their customer base aren't getting a PS4 early enough for them to make it PS4 exclusive.

But as SoWL points out, they could focus on development for the PS3, and then port that over to the PS4.

EDIT: What evidence is there about Xrd graphics being beyond what PS3 can handle?

AFAIK, there are no official Ringedge 2 specs for now, but the unofficial ones seem to be about on par with PS3. In any case, the main reason behind Xrd's good looks is the style, not processing power, polygons or anything like that, so there's no reason to suspect that PS3 won't be able to handle it.

Considering that current gen sucks monkey balls when it comes about the unreal engine i still have some doubts that the ps3 version will run smoothly, i know that ASW will try to make it arcade perfect but is UE on current gen :gonk:

Oh my, Slayer's pile-bunker is just painful to watch :gonk: Hope it gets changed for next loketest.

Also looks like you have to purely rely on RCs to get decent combos.

Anyway, thanks a lot Aristoblue, you're a true hero.
